The great Deloitte's joke !!
Yep these Accountants are the guys who advise the government on tax law and policy...Advising the Government on things like how to get Corporations paying more tax........and then going back to their offices and advising their Corporate clients how to avoid paying it.....
Paid both sides.... By the Government and their Clients for a job well done.....It's good work if you can get it !!.....
Of course it's unfair to pick on these guys alone....Pricewater, Ernst + Young....KPMG....
Apparently some Labour mp is trying to get a bill put through to prosecute financial advisors who assist in aggressive tax avoidance...
Sorry to tell you mate.....You're wasting your time......

Old and fallacious news.
Usual pony BS touted around for headlines.
Also, KPMG were one of the main providers of tax advice to UKG, last time this story did the rounds...

We have a treasury run by a chancellor whose family business engaged on tax avoidance on an industrial scale, advised by the same accountancy firms.
But what alternative firms are there? The big four pay insane amounts to the nation's top tax experts so that's where they all are.

Still not just a Tory thing...Labour were just as complicit..
Think we'll start our own party...I'll bring the beer you bring the chicks..

This is the point.
The best and brightest, save those with the occassional vocation, don't want to work in the turgid unambitious average paying world of public sector.
Therefore UKG has to bring in this expertise to advise them. That temporary expertise then returns to its day job, which is not to break the law but to legally best advise its clients. It's a messy circle basically.
Reality is the UKG DOES get best in class advice, which will increase tax receipts and capture huge revenue it would otherwise fall short of, however the Googles etc of the world will then also get best in class advice of how best to mitigate this. Those that can't afford this advice get captured by the advice provided to UKG.
What's the alternative? Pay six of seven figure salaries in the hope of attracting B&Bs to bat for UKG? Whingey tax-payers won't have that. Or don't take the advice that can be afforded when writing tax policy - imagine the field day those advised by Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PWC etc would have in THAT instance.
