What a roller coaster final round and that was just for Adam Scott.  The lead started in the sole possession of Rory McIlroy, was then shared by as many as four players, and then ended in the hands of Adam Scott despite some misfires and close shaves.

Eight Fantasy Leaguers, 1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, BlueCoverman, BobtheJob, BlueCoverman, I'm Never Wrong, MustPuttBetter, Raycastleunited, and Sand, picked Adam Scott and three of them doubled up with Bubba Watson.  1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, and BlueCoverman were the Fantasy Leaguers to do so.  Beninho and BlueCoverman were out of scoring picks after that but 1GrumpyGolfer had one more scoring pick.  SetupDetermines and TheCleaver both had four picks score points score points but they never had enough quality to hold onto or make a significant move on the leaderboard.

BobtheJob, like many other Fantasy Leaguers, had three picks score and his other two were enough to hold off 1GrumpyGolfer and SetupDetermines.  Davie, Eyetoldyouso, GolferMartin, Hibbz, I'm Never Wrong, LadyPutt, McLaren, MustPuttBetter, Owen10ozzy, Raycastleunited, Sand, and Super_Realist were the others to have three scoring picks.  EmmDee57, Kwinigolfer, and Pedro each had two picks score.  AlciG and SirBenson both had one pick score points.

Jimmy Walker shot 66 for the low round of the day and TheCleaver earned points from that.

Trump National Doral plays host to the first WGC of 2016 whether it will host it in 2017 is under speculation but who cares?  It's the first weighted two event of the season and the second event in the Florida swing.  WGC's tend to have the best and the brightest of lights playing and this year it's no exception.  The 2016 field is smaller than that of 2015 with 47 of the top 50 are playing, Jim Furyk, Thongchai Jaidee, and Jaco Van Zyl, are the missing three.  Almost all of the field is from within the top 100 and you'll notice that one is not like the others in Category C; Jordan Zunic qualified due to his position on the Australasian Tour Order of Merit.

Dustin Johnson is the defending champion and former winners in the field include: Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, and Phil Mickelson.  Nick Watney, Ernie Els, Geoff Ogilvy, Mike Weir, and Tiger Woods are the other players to have won.  Woods and Els are the only multiple winners although Woods have seven to Els's two.

Due to the limited field size the number of picks is scaled back to two from each category plus reserve.  This is also a no cut event so the usual cut bonuses are not in effect but additional points are available in round two.

________________________________________________________________________

Everyone please notify others of changes in field before tournament starts and invalid or incomplete picks from participants.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 6 players as follows:

Pick 2 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 6 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

All, just a reminder this event is down to six picks in total due to the smaller field.

Mac,
How come you get more choices than everyone else?
Is that some sort of compensation for your performance so far?

Erm, I've already said it.

With that in mind, if there is no update I will have to make the assumption, subject to LadyPutt's approval/ruling, that the first two names in the list are your picks and the third will be the reserve. The bracketed names will be discarded.

So a totally random selection.

Cat A - Scott, Rose (R) McIlroy. See if Adam can go 2 4 2.
Cat B - Koepka, Thomas (R) Kisner
Cat C - Berger, English (R) Kjeldsen

As always, cheers Grumps.

I may not be around to make picks next week (busy with the house-hunting) so please give me 1, 3 and 7 in each category with 10 as reserve if I don't pick by the deadline. Ta muchly thumbsup

PS: I agree with you about people's picks if they don't read your reminder about only picking six this week! You take their first two with the third as reserve and discard their reserve.

Sorry don't get this? Care to explain?

I've always thought Scott looks like Matthew McConnaughay. I'm sure his OWGR is no 1 with the ladies.

sorry Ray.. it's a (seemingly particular to NI) expression meaning press on, or keep on doing what you're doing....mostly applied to motor sports where it means full throttle Smile

My gaydar must be off because I'd always thought Adam might be, but he's recently married and become a Dad.

First tee times at 11:10 in Trumptown, 4:10pm in Sunny England so there's still plenty of time to make picks.

Welcome back MPB!

Setup, I take it that's for next week's event? Do you want to add a reserve as we should be back to 3 picks, I think.

McIlroy in....Rose out to reserve! Shocked

I must be a glutton for punishment! Stubborness has got the better of me; that and seeing just how well Rory has played in the company of Spieth (more so) and Day.

It was a mixed bag of scoring for the Fantasy League picks; sixteen players beat par, eight matched it, and nineteen couldn't beat or match it and in some cases came nowhere near it. Rounds of 68 were needed to crack the Top Five and four picks managed that. One of them managed a 66 which tied for the Low Round of the day. Scott Piercy and Marcus Fraser both shot 66 and Piercy was selected by Eyetoldyouso. The points haul from that almost matches Eye's performance in his last two events so he'll be pleased to get off to a good start. The popular Adam Scott was one of those shooting 68 and that earned points for 1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, BlueCoverman, BobtheJob, I'm Never Wrong, MustPuttBetter, Raycastleunited, and Sand. Danny Willett also shot 68 and he was Super_Realist's pick. Phil Mickelson went one better shooting 67 and that earned points for GolferMartin.

As there's no cut in the WGC events there's the chance for more points through the Top Five Low Round scores in round two.

Scott Piercy -6
1. Eyetoldyouso

With Top Five Low Round points on offer in round two five players, all picks, made the top five. Dustin Johnson had the round of the day with 64, he was closely followed by Rory McIlroy whose new putting style must be working for him. Adam Scott and Justin Thomas both had 66s and Charl Schwartzel shot 67.

Johnson was selected by Hibbz, Kwinigolfer, McLaren, and Pedro. Both Hibbz and McLaren added another pick to put them into a tie for the lead with BobtheJob, I'm Never Wrong, and MustPuttBetter who each had two picks score points. 1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, BlueCoverman, Raycastleunited, and Sand all had one pick add to their points tally from round one while Owen10ozzy and SetupDetermines registered their first points in round two.

Brandt Snedeker's advantage from being involved in tweaking the course design is over as sore ribs caused him to withdraw; AlciG, Hibbz, LadyPutt, Owen10ozzy, and Sand are all disadvantaged by this. With more points on offer in round three there's a good chance they and the others still to score will get off the mark.

Round 2 Low Round (20 points)
Dustin Johnson -8
1. Hibbz
2. Kwinigolfer
3. McLaren
4. Pedro

Round 2 Low Scores (20 points)
-5 or lower

Holy Moly, the SetupDetermines show rolled into Trumpton and cast all asunder.  Five of his six picks were in the Top Ten Low Round scores and two of them shared the low round of the day honours.  Both Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera Bello shot 67, Setup was the only one to have picked Garcia while Cabrera Bello was also picked by GolferMartin, Owen10ozzy, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver.

Eyetoldyouso continued to bounceback with three of his picks in amongst the top ten scorers.  GolferMartin, Owen10ozzy, and Super_Realist also added another scoring pick and all are in the top five of the leaderboard.  BobtheJob, EmmDee57, and MustPuttBetter each had two picks score points while 1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, Hibbz,  I'm Never Wrong, LadyPutt, McLaren, Raycastleunited, and Sand all had one pick score points.

Huh? Kaufman and Fowler look like they will score in the top 15 and definitely 20. Spieth may also make the top 20 if he holds on.

There used to be Eye. Points for worst round and last place but we stopped rewarding failure and awarding participation trophies.
