Jacques Burger will retire from rugby on Sunday

Jacques Burger will retire from rugby on Sunday, strange time to retire before the end of the season.

Ernst Joubert did the same earlier in the season.

Burger would not have been included in the last few games of the season. This way he will get to bow out at home and Sarries save a bit against the Salary Cap.

Didn't Joubert just cover the RWC?

I suppose this allows Burger to have his moment in front of the home fans and then enjoy the playoffs. As LT says it'll save a month or two on the playing wages though Sarries probably already have a job lined up for him, head of overseas recruitment or club ambassador in Africa etc.
