LLANDUDNO will be out to go one better than last year when they compete at the 19th annual Llangoed Sevens rugby tournament on Anglesey this Saturday

Tudno made it all the way to the final of the 2010 event only to be beaten by a superior North Wales Exiles side.

Illustrious winners and colourful entrants from all over the world have graced the island venue with their presence in past sevens showpieces.

This year the accent is very much on the tried and tested, with the North Wales Exiles returning to try to retain their superiority at this event.

Out to test their specialist sevens technique will be six-times winners Llangefni and past finalists Ruthin.

The Exiles have had a meteoric rise to fame in their short history, winning two major international tournaments and coming runners-up in two.

At Llangoed they will not have the unknown quantities of sides assembled from a variety of teams.

In their group Bro Ffestiniog, Bala, Llandudno and Denbigh will test their resolve.

All these matches take place on the village rugby field at Penmon crossroads. The senior competitions are scheduled for a 1.20pm start

In the parallel senior group on the converted village soccer pitch, Llangefni are joined by Ruthin, Shotton, Bethesda and Edwardians from Liverpool.

The two top teams from each group will meet in semi-finals, whilst the morning groups of junior clubs will have already received their group trophies.

On the rugby field in the morning starting at 10am, hosts Llangoed entertain Bangor, Benllech and Ellesmere Port 2.
