Season 2 Week 1 Results
Liaoning Whowin 1 v 1 Ebbsfleet United
(Aguero) (Aubameyang)
Tough game to call. I sat for like 20-30 minutes combined and tried to decide the result but couldn't choose a winner. I can imagine with lesser injuries, Bam would have put Di Maria out wide however i'm not sure about Lingard on the wing, seems to me like he should really play centrally. For Trebs i would say that his midfield is one of the best in these leagues barring Milner who i would look to replace when you can, i think he is okay as cover but not as a starter with the squad you have. Both teams manage to get some joy out of one another with Ebbsfleet pushing onto Whowin who chose to sit deep defensively, however Aguero was able to latch onto the ball getting forward quickly to get some joy against the defence of Ebbsfleet using his pace and losing his marker. Good game this for sure.
Manchester United 1 v 2 Crawley Town
(Vardy) (Neymar, Diego Costa)
With Viva opting to allow the full backs to show the wingers inside this puts a hell of a lot of pressure on Alonso/Kante and even Terry/Zouma in the centre and with Marky looking to take advantage of this i can see Neymar especially managing to cut inside and attack the goal. Terry and Zouma will also be handling Costa centrally so this is another thing that will pile the pressure onto the Manchester United defence. This again wasn't easy to call and i think Viva has a great base squad there and there's no reason why he can't defend his title this season despite the loss here. I can see Vardy managing to get in behind after Brandt has some joy up against Fosu-Mensah.
- Liaoning Whowin:
- ----------------------------------Hart----------------------------------
----Lichtsteiner----------Pepe---------------Silva-------------Blind----
-------------------------Casemiro----------Verratti---------------------
-----------Payet-------------------Pogba-------------------Milner-------
----------------------------------Aguero--------------------------------
BENCH
Pickford
Telles
Browning
Ojo
Brekalo
El Ghazi
Iheanacho
Gamechangers
If losing - El Ghazi + Iheanacho on for Milner + Casemiro, going to a 4-4-2 if losing.
If winning - Telles on for a midfielder, going to a 5-4-1 (Blind CB) if winning.
TACTICS (100 words)
First game of the season at home - give Ebbsfleet a harsh lesson in being in the top division. Their main weapon going forward is pace, so play slightly deeper so there is no room in behind for Coman and Aubemayang. All five midfielders will work hard for the team and put pressure on them as soon as they get into our half. Going forward get Payet and Pogba on the ball as much as possible as both can create something out of nothing, Aguero constantly looking to get in space running across the defense – be patient in finding opportunities.
- Ebbsfleet United:
- Injuries - Elneny, Di Maria, Thiago
---------------------Adrian
Clyne---Alderweireld---Chiellini---Sandro
------------Pjanic---------Niguez
Lingard------------------------------Coman
---------- Rashford--Aubameyang
Subs: Speroni, Morgan, Reid, Van Der Wiel, Smith
Tactics
Low on attacking numbers this week, looking to get an early goal or two, shut up shop late on.
Defensive tactics
Chiellini get tight to Aguero, rough him up, Alderweireld use pace, cover
Clyne/Sandro always aware of passes between them and CBs, stay compact
Lingard tuck inside when we lose ball
Rashford drop onto Casemiro without ball
Attacking
Play for counter, CMs sit deep, get ball quickly forwards, dictate play with passing and movement
Coman/Rashford/Aubameyang stay forward, defence lacks pace, push them back, prevent them overloading our midfield
Front 2 constantly make runs in behind, both capable of dropping deep, running with the ball
FBs to constantly get forward
Coman to switch to RW if Blind starts at LB and target for pace
Subs
Winning at 70, Reid for Coman/Rashford depending on fatigue, 5-3-2 with Clyne/Sandro wingbacks, Lingard right sided CM - contain Neymar, front two stay forward for counter
Liaoning Whowin 1 v 1 Ebbsfleet United

Alonso Kante

Subs
Casillas
Hernanes
Varela
Motta
Injuries
Laporte

Defenders to mark zonally, fullbacks show the wingers the inside where they'll be met by our CM to block of the crossing/shooting options. Kante & Alonso block and intercept passes cutting down the passing angles, both of you keep the ball ticking looking for our wide men or Vardy runs in behind. Attacking trio play to run with the ball committing players which will open space for us and get shots in.
SUB 70 MIN IF WINNING
Alonso off Motta on (Fresh legs more defensive)

Re: Week 1 Results
Cheers for the result mate, any chance of posting up the tactics? I'd be interested to see if my predicted line up was correct.
