Welcome to Season 8 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (SJE) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 23 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1993.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page. Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.
Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues. Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will receive two additional bids to be used exclusively on academy age players. These players must be bid for on the National League Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by the RFU on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by the RFU against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.
    Player Draft
Worcester Warriors & London Wasps will participate in a player draft beginning the week of June 22nd. Both sides will be allowed to draft two players each. The draft picks will go as follows; 1. Worcester 2. Wasps 3. Wasps 4. Worcester.

    Round Bidding
There will be two rounds of bidding. The first window will run the week starting June 29th and the second the week starting July 3rd. All sides will be allowed to sign one player each during the window. These bids are not protected if you do not have the funds in place to bid during the window you will lose the bid.

    Open Bidding
From July 13th the foreign market will be open to all bids similar to previous seasons. Due to the world cup the window will remain open till the end of September.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the National League Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be European Rugby Champions Cup, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday. Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday. Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday. Failure to meet these deadlines is punishable by the addition of three match points to the oppositions final score, unless both sides fail to do so. Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday. Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Sunday. Managers will pm the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

For domestic competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

For European competition at least 8 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 6 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
Bonuses will be awarded on a scaled basis i.e. 2m for 5 games, 1.6m for 4 games and so on
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc upto a maximum of £5m per fine.

Kicks win matches and he has let
Australia down every game.

It's like having cooper playing.
He is great ball in hand but should be dropped for a ten who can kick.

Would give him a 4/10 as he failed at the key components of his game.

Toomua helped him out with his game management which has been shocking in first
2 games. Ball
In hand he was fantastic but no getting away from fact he lost Australia the match.

I've seen him play better but his general play was very good, at least a 7/10 imo.

Joseph had Kurindrani in his pocket again, great to see him defend so well.

Harrison wasn't given much of a chance.

Not really sure how you can say JJ had Kurindrani in his pocket again, assume you mean that the Aussie 13 had no attacking threat, as JJ certainly didnt look like making any ground against him in offence...

Was a brilliant performance from us today, to concede 40 points in Australia and win is amazing. Our bench made such a big difference, especially with Daly packing down as no8.

Farrell was exceptional again today, he just keeps getting better and better. Some great performances from the pack with Mako looking very good and Lawes had a huge impact. Youngs had a good game, was surprised he went off so early.

Of course defensivley. Kurindrani made zero impact in any game really, especially today. Fantastic defensive showing from JJ. Joseph was quite on the attack side but was better today, good showing.

Great showing from Mako in the loose. Hit and miss in the set piece as normal but to be expected.

Hit and miss in the loose? Did he get penalised today at all in the scrum, or go backwards at all (pretty sure Cole was the guy that got pinged there). Telegraph saying he was one of the best performers on tour and wouldn't disagree with that at all and mentioned how good his scrummaging has improved/been.

Mako, Hartley, Cole, Itoje, Kruis, Lawes, Robshaw, Haskell, BV all been great in the pack this series, really good to see such a strong team emerging there, Cifford and Launchbury been very good off the bench as well. Paul Hill has impressed me as well.

His scrummaging is still an issue imo. We've certainly got some good options at prop though although I'd expect Marler to come back in as starter.

1st test Kurindrani better than JJ
2nd test JJ better than Kurindrani
3rd test both nullified each other

Honours even in my view.
If a hooker threw 50% he would be perceived as
Having a mare.
Pooly cited cipiranis mid 60% as not good enough

foley kicking 53% is shocking especially as many were routine.

Great example of kickes win matches. In every test if Aussies taken there kicks and in second test not kicked touch due to no confidence in foley they possibly would have won.

Harrison looked lost today. Good player and one for future but lacked that intensity and speed off
The line that Haskell had been doing.

A few looked tired on both sides which maybe explains the amount of points ?

Both vunipolas in running for man of match today. Who was
Official one ??

Best game by mako in An int shirt.

Lawes carried far too high. Real technical issue there. Launch went well.

Nowell had a stinker defensively and his lack of pace in attack was so apparent. May or another proper wing will be in soon.

Foley kicked at 67% today. Not great but his general play was very good. They should start Leilo who could kick.

Similar for us with Ford dreadful from the tee but open play good.

Beast needed a big game, he's been getting hammered in the scrum.

Farrell got motm today Mat, he's been brilliant this series and so good to have someone you know will always kick in the 90%.

Both Vunipolas have been excellent, offer so much around the park and Jones seems to have got a little extra from both, would put Billy in the WC bracket now after his 6Ns and thus series.

Sorry Pooly, didnt mean the loose meant the set piece. Last two games Mako has got one up on his opposite number, so don't know whether that is because the opposition wasn't the best but personally think his scrummaging has come on leaps and bounds.

Look at how good Sarries and England's set piece is and if he was that bad in the set piece like you make out sometimes I don't think he'd have an AP, European Cup, 6Ns and now a white wash of Australia.

Mat, agree with you about Harrison, he was a little out of his depth today but that was to be expected as first time he's had to play at that intensity and pace, and Hooper and McMahon both had excellent games. He'll come back as has a lot of potential and will get better.

Hartley is the big difference to our set piece. Marler and Cole got decimated in World Cup with youngs.

Hartley best all round set piece hooker in world with Strauss. Both do basics so well.

Best scrummager would be BDP

Might be me being a bit dumb with the set piece, but from what I saw in the game (and from comments in newspapers and from professionals I've seen they all said) Mako went well at set piece today and is a big improvement.

Thought Cole gave away a few more penalties and free kicks at scrum time, does a loosehead impact that at all? Have no idea if they do or not.

Strauss not been looking so good for SA this series.

Cole has put on 10KG since the World Cup, explains his resurgence to best TH in world.

Mako's best game for England today but I prefer Marler tbh, he's just a better technician in the scrum. Top options to call on though.

Cole been immense this series.

He is an awful carrier so when his scrummaging is shot like World Cup he offers nowt.

Agree the weight makes a difference but the biggest difference is Hartley.

Youngs exposes
His props so being lighter with 2 people attacking him explains Cole getting screwed.

Hartley had Moore in pieces and allowed his props to attack

Hartley has massively stepped up under Jones, was a little sceptical when Jones cam in but he must be such a good man manager to get the improvements out of all of the players like he has.

Anyone watching the u20 final, Mallinder tearing the Irish to shreds! Amazing how they've gone from 6Nations to this.

Agree with commentator re WLR needing to be dropped.

He has been awful and his form is so bad he can't catch a ball.

He is like Dagg in that when he is on form
He is sublime but out of form

Dagg back to back exceptional
Games.

2 weeks he has ran over 100m.

Week before he was sensational and had 19
Carries. He is a play maker and has
Superb distribution so they give him ball as much as they can.

It's why I say he is when
On form as he is now that he is best fb by a mile. Much better
Than folau who is also excellent.

Dagg is very good, one of the best strike runners I have seen.

Thought the final was going to be a close game. Quite a few of these English players not in the game, like the Irish no8 though he looks a very good prospect.

You do like the ott big up Matthew.

Not seen this weeks game but Dagg was far from "exceptional" and "sensational" last week. He was steady and showed some nice touches but is not in the same league as Ben Smith at FB currently.

Nobody last week was "sensational". Barrett and B Smith showed some world class moments but it was a pretty average performance for me.

He was in every team of week and commentators crowed over him.

Most commentators and media have played the game so understand how well
He played.

Barret sensational in last 2 games as was both smiths

If Dagg wasn't in same league as Ben Smith at fb then NZ would play Smith at fb and not play Dagg, especially with the wingers they have to pick from?

Barrett looked so good today, must surely have got himself the starting fly half spot ahead of Cruden now. NZ going to take some catching, look a class apart still at the moment.

Really revised my opinion on Jack Mcgrath he has developed out of sight in to a fine loosehead.

Never going to be a dominant scrummager but has made himself a tidy scrummager and the rest of his work speaks for itself.
Extraordinary work rate. He was top tackler in 2 out of 3 tests and is everywhere.

South African lineout superb all series and beast dominated his opposite number in each game.

Olding impressed at 12 as did Jackson and Murray who is back to his best.

Ireland's lack of pace and threat in back 3 kills them. Trimble never the answer and earls just has never kicked on.

Henderson and Toner look great and Heaslip been immense.

Matt....I watched the game last week, Dagg was not sensational no matter how much you suggest "commentators said so". He was steady and put in a good shift, there's really no need to go hugely over the top when constantly bigging up your players, we get it Wink

Beast has not "dominated his opposite number in ever game" also.....what are you watching?!?!

Ireland scrum has been very much on top in the last 2 tests, I've not seen today. They even stated their scrum was in crisis hence the call ups of props.

I know you love a massive over the top big up but come on....it's the off season Wink

Chris.....Smith is equally good on the wing, that's why Dagg is playing. If Smith was just a FB, he'd be starting there ahead of Dagg. Smith is the best FB in the world by a fair distance imo, he has everything.

Not to keep going on about it but a few reviews from last week. Happy to agree Dagg had a decent game, cannot agree with "sensational" as the media outlets suggest.

Good to see him back firing anyway, top 5 FB on his day, possibly top 3. You've got some insane options there.
