Euro 2016 Discussion
First topic message reminder :
Rooney woeful? I'm not his biggest fan but he's been pretty good so far, working well alongside Dier allowing Alli to push on further
Duty281 wrote:Sterling and Rooney have been woeful thus far and need to be dropped (but 1 of them certainly won't be), but I would favour giving Kane one final chance. He's had an excellent couple of seasons, and England shouldn't jettison him at the first sign of difficulty.

I like Spain's football, but their gamesmanship makes them hateful to watch.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Spain are so poor! Fans must be in their horrors. They look so clueless and the lack of urgency from the front players is odd to say the least. Look like a team who think they are 3-0 in front. Del Bosque will be gone after this tournament...especially after the half time substitution...what was that about?
Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Well the guy tipped to replace Del Bosque was linked with us for a while so I wouldn't be too hopeful.

This is as classic an Italian performance as I can think of. I can see Germany dealing with them, but I'd say they'd beat us and France will certainly be worried about them.

They don't offer anything different to who's playing, Koke doesn't suit the team while Tiago is just a Fabregas clone.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
You mean apart from maybe just playing better than those on the pitch?! Koke is physical and will at least get stuck in and since Fabregas has done naff all why not take him off?
What do Vazquez or Aduriz offer exactly?

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Aduriz offers little, he's brought on to appease the fans.
Tiago I don't think is better than those on the pitch, too like for like anyway. Koke's physicality does wonders for Atletico but for Spain I don't think it's what they need. Pedro I would agree with, he offers a bit of pace they're lacking.

Italy just keep on rolling! Fantastic stuff from them; story of two managers for me...Conte got it absolutely spot on...Del Bosque got it horribly wrong.
Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
I got that one a bit wrong, next prediction; Iceland 1-0.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Yeh I went 3-1 Spain. So I'm in the shocking prediction club too Hammer. As great as Italy were; I can't stress enough how badly wrong I think Spain got that. Not just Del Bosque but the players in general have to be questioned...they didn't look up for the fight at all!
Germany next for the Azzuri..they have a great record against them but surely Germany have too much even for these underdogs...

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
I've had a nibble at 9/1 that Iceland will win in 90 minutes.
9/1 are stupid odds. Iceland are full of confidence and will play with a mentality and style that England will loathe.
All the pressure is on England, very little on Iceland.
If the English go one down at any stage, they will struggle to row back - they must be the least clinical side in the tournament.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
As I said, Del Bosque's team has never looked anything like previous Spanish sides, so not surprised with an Italian victory, especially given their defensive skills. Spain are at that point where they're clinging onto the old guard, whereas it's time to embrace the new & also get rid of Del Bosque. Fabregas has to go, Conte must realise he's a spent force too. Nolito doesn't frighten anybody & Silva is ageing. Not really sure Busqueta even offers anything nowadays.
In a quite defensive tournament, whereby defensive units are bossing games, I can see a Portugal v Italy/Germany final.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Think that Spain have fallen back into their usual level now, perennial underachievers. They were probably the best international side of all time, so it's hardly a massive disappointment, but the players there to replace their top players just aren't up to the same standard.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Losing Villa was a big blow. They have also got a certain arrogance to them, but a new coach will be under pressure to win more than Del Bosque so it might just see them move away from their plan a gameplan that they do not touch regardless of how it goes.

1-0 Rooney.
That could be crucial. Iceland have to come out a bit now.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion
Well done Sterling. Silly silly keeper. Rooney sticks it away (just put 10 quid on him to score first too) not great odds but some cash none the less. Didn't expect it so early mind. Hopefully flood gates open and we bang a few in!!

Bit of a familiar pattern. Iceland have no real outball.
