Stranger Things
New series that's on Netflix, only 8 parts but quite possibly the greatest series I've ever seen ( > Breaking Bad/Sopranos/The Wire)

Stayed up and watched the last two episodes after I posted the above.
Please let there be another series, it's just amazing.

Sounds pretty good. Will add it to my list. My long, long list that I can't keep up with! Too many good shows and not enough time!

What is this 'Netflix' of which you speak? Some kind of sorcery?

I think its something you pay for when you cba to ask your teenage son how to access the show by 'alternate methods'

Re: Stranger Things
Watched this over the weekend and thought it was brilliant. I know it was based in 1983 but they really got the 80's theme spot on, especially the opening titles (felt like the original 'V' opening theme) and music.
A lot of it seemed based on 80's films and TV series which I'm sure I read it was to be.

- Ending:
- I think that was what we was meant to believe, 11 is still alive. Interesting theories on Will potentially being part Demogorgon now

Re: Stranger Things
Finished it last week, worth a watch but couldn't really give a toss whether there's another series or not. Reminded me of a Stephen King novel in that it built up well but the ending was all over the place. Main reason I watched was because it starred Winona Ryder, don't think she really cuts it as a mother of two (or of one for most of the series), thought she would be a ghost or something which appealed to me.

Re: Stranger Things
Read about the hype so thought I'd give it a try so downloaded it. Probably one the best series I've ever watched. Loved the 80s goonies, ET, stand by me mixed with Stephen King style thriller theme. Superb viewing..

Re: Stranger Things
Got around to watching this as recently resubscribed to Netflix
Loved the 80s music and the 80s movies references and of course loved Winona Ryder which I have done for nearly 25 years
I thought the acting from the younger members of the cast was very good especially Eleven and Mike
Some parts of the plot were a bit over the shop in parts but that does happen quite a lot with Sci-Fi
My favourite American TV show is 'Twin Peaks' so there were elements that reminded me of it
I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5 and certainly looking forward to Season 2

Re: Stranger Things
So who's binge watched the second series?
- Don't read if you've not seen Season 2 yet:
- Loved it, it didn't quite reach the heights of the first series but that was understandable as it was all a new experience then. Liked several of the new characters especially Bob though wasn't a fan of Billy & Max. Interesting to see going forward if 8 is the only sister to be seen and if they bring in other numbers will they too have different powers?

Re: Stranger Things
I watched the first eight episodes over the weekend. Will watch the last one tonight. So far just as good as the first series if not a little bit better.

Re: Stranger Things
Yeah, I binged watched it this weekend. Another excellent 9 hours of TV!
The majority of the actors and characters are so good/likeable that any plot holes are easily overlooked. And the attention to detail and call backs to the 80s are brilliant again.

- Spoiler:
- There seemed to be some set ups for S3. The obvious one, as Hero mentioned, is that we have been introduced to Eight and Eleven - so where are the others? That and the suggestion that Papa from S1 is still alive.
I really didn’t like Billy. I am not sure what his purpose was in the story. Just a device for Steve and Max to have some nice pay offs I guess.
On that note, the Steve/Dustin combo is my favourite duo yet! More please. And Steve in general was the star of S2 for me. Quite the development.

Re: Stranger Things
I have only two problems with this show:
1) each series is very short ( you can binge watch it in one or two days
2) a long wait for the next series.

Re: Stranger Things
(No Spoilers)
Just got around to finishing season 2
It started off slow and I was beginning to think that maybe I wasn't going to enjoy it as much as the first season. But once it did pick up I found it more compelling than season 1
It looks like the door is open for a third season. I am always sceptical about shows that go on for more than two seasons as they usually seem to drop in quality after the first two. And to be honest the way Stranger Things 2 ended was a perfect for a wrap up.
I will give this this a chance though if they bring out a new season. Either way...Stranger Things 1 and 2 have been a very enjoyable watch

And possibly a fifth...westisbest wrote:I did see they are doing a third season and looking at a fourth even.
"We don't actually know," Ross told us at the season two premiere. "I think, you know, four to five seasons is likely where we'll end up, but who knows? I mean, none of this official, and we know where we want to go. We're trying to figure out still how long it'll take to get there, so we'll see."
"It's hard, like four seems short, five seems long," Matt added. "So I don't know what to do."

Re: Stranger Things
do you think it will still link with upside world or is that finished? the obvious go to place will be the kids like eleven, but cant say i particularly enjoyed that bit of this season. seemed pointless and purely set up for other seasons

Re: Stranger Things
I thought the ending of season 2 implied that it is not finished. The upside down is a pivotal part of the plot so I would assume it is. I could be wrong thoughcompelling and rich wrote:do you think it will still link with upside world or is that finished?
I only acknowledge 'Twin Peaks' up until episode 16 so the Black Lodge does not exist for me
