Season 2, Week 8, Championship Results
- Macc Town Tactics:
- -------------Donnarumma-------------
Hysaj---Kimmich---Howedes---Luis
-------Krychowiak---Weigl-----------
------------ ---Sanches------------------
Bale-----------------------------Martial
-----------------Dybala--------------
Subs: Jesus, Ounas, Sule, Janssen, Kapustka, Fabinho
Real’s strength lies in their defense but with Ramos injured it’s a shadow of its former self so we’re imposing high pressure on the back line which restricts Marcelo going forward and exposes the weaker element of his game. Our forward 4 all have fantastic speed and stamina so hound their defense & capitalize upon these errors. Weigl is brought into our midfield but with a >90% passrate then he should be upto the task. Defensively we’re comfortable on the ball so pass out of trouble. Wingers go wide to stretch defense with support from our FBs.
Subs: if winning at 75m - Sule for Weigl, Kimmich sit with Krychowiak and protect the back then hit counter
If losing at 70m - Janssen for Krychowiak, go 4-4-2
If losing at 80m - Jesus for Dybala, straight swap.
- Real Madrid Tactics:
- ---------------------------------------Buffon---------------------------------------------------
Srna-----Kouyate-------Varane--------Ramos--------Marcelo
------------------Florenzi-------------------------Isco-------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vasquez-----------------------------------------------------------------Nani
-------------------------------------Chicharito------------------------------------------------
Subs - Ake, Giaccherini, Bakayoko, Vadillo, Akinfenwa, Queresma
Captain - Buffon
Free Kicks - Florenzi
Corner Kicks - Florenzi
Penalties - Chicharito
Tactics
Defending
Ultra park the bus football to stop the Maccy D express. Defend for your lives and stay so deep the oppo won't be able to use their "pace".
Attacking
Florenzi to play b2b. Isco to be the deep lying playmaker. Play quick passes to wingers and use worldclass dribbling ability to create space and bamboozle oppo. Nani and Vasquez use rapid pace to cause havoc against oppo fullbacks. Wingers to get balls into the box for Chicha to use goal poaching ability to score. If anyone has sight of goal, then shoot! Defenders to play long passes from deep for Chicha to use pace and play off the the oppo defenders.
Subs if WINNING
Amrabat ON Chicha OFF - Amrabat to use pace to get in behind tired oppo defence.
Ake ON Nani OFF - Ake to help out more defensively.
Subs if LOSING BY 65MINS
Amrabat and Vadillo ON
Kouyate and Nani OFF
Change formation to 4 1 2 1 2 with Amrabat partnering Chicha up front and Mertens moving to LW.
Subs if DRAWING BY 65MINS
Amrabat and Queresma and Bakayoko ON
Chicha and Nani and Kouyate OFF
Like for like changes, just fresh legs.
Macclesfield Town 5-0 Real Madrid
Martial
Dybala x2
Bale
Howedes
Madrid camping in their own half, Macc playing a high and Nadeem playing an injured Ramos this was only going to end in a one way brutal massacre. A stroll in the park for Macc as the Madrid midfield was unable to offer the protection needed to the defence, Florenzi and Isco were out muscled and out played against the three man midfield. The attack of Macc put immense pressure on Madrid who could not cope with the closing down, they lacked an out let who could withdraw some of the pressure and the very rare times they did attack it led to long rangers which didn't trouble the Macc keeper, Hernandez lacked service and was certainly not going to get the better of Kimmich and Howedes, aimless long balls from his side. It could have been worse but Macc took their foot of the gas.
- MK Dons Tactics:
- Injuries:Andres Iniesta, Michy Batshuayi, Marquinhos
------------------Zoet------------------
Vrsaljko--Sokratis--Rekik--Rodriguez
----------Hamsik----Wanyama--------
Sane------------Silva----------Draxler
----------------Lacazette---------------
No manager for Vancouver so unsure of set up, we will focus on our game. Hamsik to start play off going forward, working the ball into the 3 attacking players in front. Push on into the final third and put pressure on them. Silva to pull the strings in behind Lacazette looking to play him in. Draxler and Sane look to push onto the fullbacks and work them hard all game. Rekik and Sokratis to marshall the striker/s out of the game, work together with Rodriguez and Vrsaljko putting in a shift both attacking and defending. Possession is key.
Subs: Diallo, Nelom, Piszczek, Palmer, Ziyech, Elia, Aduriz.
Ziyech on for Draxler - 85th minute to keep applying pressure out wide, look to cut inside and strike the ball.
- Vancouver Tactics:
- ---------------------------Horn----------------------
Ginter --------Williams --------Vertonghen --- Azpilicueta
---------------------------Dier------------------------
--------------Alli--------------------Rabiot
------------------------- Mahrez------------------------
--------------------Kane------Mandzukic
Bench - Weidenfeller, Dante, Barzagli, Pirlo, Holtby, Huntelaar
Injuries - Bellarabi, Di Sciglio, Loftus Cheeks
Win the midfield battle, Wanyama is the only physical player they have, scrap our way to a win
Attacking:
- Dominate possession; full backs offer width/support, play through balls to strikers
- Rabiot/Alli get forward to support strikers, Mahrez can drift out wide to put crosses in
Defending:
- Pressing game: midfield hustles, wins tackles, gets ball back quickly to launch attacks
- Full-backs track wingers, turn them inside for CMs to deal with
- Dier covers for FBs
Subs
Winning at 70 - Pirlo for Rabiot, keep possession and close out the game
Losing at 70 - Huntelaar for Rabiot, 3 up top and go long ball
MK Dons 2-1 Vancouver Whitecaps
Lacazette-----Kane
Rodriguez
Managerless Vancouver took the lead applying pressure on early and getting physical with the Dons midfield. Mahrez drifting out wide led to a 2v1 and a delicious ball for Kane to head in. Vancouver continued the pressure and scrappy style not allowing Dons to get in to a rhythm. As the second half wore on Dons started to click and got a passing flow going allowing Silva to dictate the final third which slipping in Lacazette. Dons used the width advantage, Rodriguez getting in to an attacking position let rip. Vancover went direct after going behind but Dons managed to hold on.

Cheers Nadeem and sorry for the battering, not sure if a replacement of Jagielka would have helped
