Championship Results - Week 4
Accrington Stanley v Ebbsfleet United
No harm in Olly going for the simple approach however i feel with the set up of Ebbsfleet it will be difficult for Accrington Stanley to contain that for 90 minutes. I don't think Olly should be soaking up pressure while having to handle the running in behind constantly from the pacey forwards of Ebbsfleet. The counter attacking idea is a good one from Olly if you are to go down that route of soaking up pressure but you are constantly penned in and you aren't going to be able to get out much if at all.
Result: Accrington Stanley 0-2 Ebbsfleet United
Ighalo, Aubameyang

Vancouver Whitecaps v Real Madrid
In my opinion, Azzy is usually tactically brilliant in these games and it showed in his approach using only 100 words. With what could be considered a back 5 from Azzy this managed to contain the pacey wingers of Real Madrid and with the defence of Real Madrid playing high up this allowed space in behind for Tevez, Kane and Defoe to do some work in the final third. The key for me with Aguero out was the tracking of the wingers by Azzy as Nadz wanted them to push on and pressure the full backs. Real Madrid put up a decent fight and it wasn't a walkover by any means but Azzy's tactical approach gave them a deserved win in my book.
Result: Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 Real Madrid
Defoe, Kane

ST - Divock Origi
ST - Benik Afobe
Subs
Gomes
Jores Okore

Tactics: Simple today - we are going 4-4-2, sitting back with two banks of four, compact defence make them go outside us and get blocks in. When we get the ball we counter attack at lightening pace, with Arny, Bolasie, Origi and Afobe. Capoue to always sit deeper, with Dembele box to box, Cresswell with free range to go forward, Simpson stay.
- Ebbsfleet United:
- -----------------------------Adrian---------------------
Ginter ----------Reid ---------------Rugani-----------Ake
-----------------------------Elneny-------------------------
----------Pjanic-----------------------------Tielemans---------
---------------------------- Mahrez------------------------
-----------------Ighalo---------------Aubameyang------------
Bench - Speroni, Flanagan, Dann, Demichelis, Lingard
Attacking hard to target a team with 2 1st choice defenders missing.
Full backs mark one on one, get forward, supply crosses/width all game long
Reid to mark the main striker, Rugani to use his pace to cover.
Elneny - sit deep, protect the CBs, pick up midfield runners, get the ball to CMs/forwards asap
CMs run with ball if on, but primarily look to move it forward
Ighalo the hold up man if need to go long, but play through Mahrez primarily with Aubameyang running in behind their slow defence. Mahrez/Aubameyang get wide, use overlaps with FBs
Subs
Winning 70 mins - Flanagan for Ighalo, Flanners goes to RWB, Ginter as 3rd CB, 5-4-1 diamond with Mahrez at tip, Aubameyang's pace on counter
Losing 70 mins - Lingard for Ake, 3-3-2-2 formation, Ginter as 3rd CB, Lingard/Mahrez behind strikers, CMs pushing forward

We may have our main striker injured, but azzy does also have his best defender Alderweireld injured so i'm sure we can get summat from this game. Azzy does not have a lot of pacey players but they have good technical ability so I want them to be closed down ASAP whenever they are in my half of the pitch so they don't have time to pick out a pass.
Defending
Experienced defence. Play high up to pressure oppo. Full backs to overlap and help wingers. Kouyate and Kovacic to protect back four. Kovacic to be given more freedom, I want him to play quick 1 touch passes and make attacking runs forward.
Attack
Front four are full of pace. Wingers to take on oppo full backs. Mix it up by getting crosses into the box or by playing quick one touch passes to penetrate the defence. Pereyra to use b2b ability to close the oppo down. Dribble or shoot if you can. Augustin to use pace to get in behind defence.
Subs if LOSING BY 65MINS
Baio and Passlack ON
Pereyra and Kouyate OFF
Change formation to 4 1 2 1 2.
Subs if WINNING BY 65MINS
Passlack for Albrighton
Change formation to 5atb ultra defensive with Kouyate moving to CB and play park the bus football.
Subs if DRAWING BY 65MINS
Passlack for Albrighton
Fresh legs
