Like the pictures. Could easily also work for Edinburgh Nightclub vs Glasgow Nightclub.....
I'd back Glasgow to bounce back and win this.

Glasgow have fought 2 tough matches in a row close but ultimately deserved to lose. Looking at form, this one should be a 5 pointer for Glasgow (assuming we have a back 5 that is remotely healthy and not all academy players). Not sure I can predict a line-up with so many back row and 2nd row players gone.

Courage, Luckless. Gregor Townsend has recently been seen stopping people in Partick and asking them if they could play loose forward at the weekend.Luckless Pedestrian wrote:Do we have to have a match thread for this?
My haircut was older than half of our bench last week.

7 changes made before our last game, so that'll likely mean anywhere between 5 and 10 changes for this game. I don't think we'll be able to deal with Glasgow's intensity and speed in attack, unless we get a nudge on up front but I can't see that happening - a good group of forwards and they're this poor at the scrum.

Can't see anything other than a home win here. Maybe even with a bonus point. Our all out attack is bound to click soon. In Kingsley l trust!!

Anyway, that was then, this is now. This time it'll be 660 - 3 to the Dragons. That's right, 660.

Are you talking about the NGD pack there? In which case the word you're looking for certainly isn't 'good'. 'Absolute flaming sh1te' would be a lot closer to the mark.

Any chance of Hugh Blake's loan to Bay of Plenty being cut short to help with the injury crisis or do we think he won't be coming back to Scotland?

I remember the lovely days when Glasgow were fellow whipping boys
I'm looking forward to the beer, even the bus replacement service will be a breeze compared to the actual game.

Re: Newport Gwent Dragons v Glasgow Warriors, 30 September
Worth remembering that the Dragons do lead the current head-to-head 13 wins to 11.
And Glasgow also have a habit of getting on the wrong end of home officials in Newport so at least a couple of touch-judge recommended yellows, or maybe even a red should be a guarantee.
Will be interesting to see if Toonie rests Hogg and Seymour for this one or the Zebre game next week.
Can't seem them going into Leicester game without a rest but also can't see them going in not having played for 3 weeks, so it surely can only be one of the next two games?

Yep, in fairness only one Welsh touch judge for this game and a neutral TMO, so much better than it used to be.

Kingsley almost got it right there, but there's a glaring error at No.2 - he's picked a guy that can't throw. Anyway I put up a prediction elsewhere and I got laughed at, I can't see why mind, but i'll post it here too.
Prediction: Dragons 60-3 Glasgow.

Re: Newport Gwent Dragons v Glasgow Warriors, 30 September
Despite their injury woes, Glasgow still putting out a decent enough team.
Hoggy gets his rest this week but Johnny Gray soldiers on with Rob Harley beside him, I suspect he may be spending a bit of time in the second row for the foreseeable. Rob McAlpine is on the bench!
Strauus is also back and plays with Wynne and Fraser Brown in the back row and Matt Fargerson getting another run off the bench.
The backline looks very solid, with only really Hogg and Sarto missing (and he is on the bench), Rory Hughes, after a decent cameo last weekend gets a start.

Promising for us that there's no Hogg (for most of the game at least) and Sarto. Can you rest Seymour too?

Our first chance to see DJD in a Glasgow shirt for a proper game as well, it will be interesting to see what he can do.

There's a danger here that Toonie is taking this game a bit lightly. That's a remarkable effort from the tombola, particularly Harley at lock and Brown at 7. "Makeshift" doesn't do it justice.
The backline is good though, and I'm pleased to see Rory Hughes get a start. I've always rated him.

Makeshift maybe, but with the current injury list, especially in the second and back row, I am just glad we can get any half decent looking team out. The question really is who will he play next week when JG surely needs a rest.
Brown actually had an absolute stormer in the back row last week, looked like he had been playing there all his life. It was not the first time and won't be the last that he fills in there.

You're right about Rozzer Hughes. For Scotland, a lot of our outside back options can be a bit showpony-ish, all glitz and flair, but no dog. (Hoggy, Tommy, Visser and Dougie, I'm looking at you.) I like a wing with a bit of the b***ard about him.funnyExiledScot wrote:The backline is good though, and I'm pleased to see Rory Hughes get a start. I've always rated him.

Re: Newport Gwent Dragons v Glasgow Warriors, 30 September
Good side for Glasgow. Need to develop wings and Hughes offers something different. Would have like Sarto to start and give Seymour a rest also.
Problem with both Harley and Gray needing time off next week so must be hoping that Swinson and/or Uanivi are healthy. Brown is arguably the best openside Glasgow have and happy to see Rae coming back into the fold. There is a lot of firepower in that backline. If the rain holds off til after the match Glasgow have enough to put Newport to the sword.
Newport 16 - 31 Glasgow if the rain holds off is my prediction. About a 15 point Glasgow win. The return game will be close based on recent matches.

I can understand them wanting to ease him and Tom Prydie back in, but the bottom line is we're an unsuccessful team. We can't afford to fanny around with rotation for the sake of it. (Where's Ollie Griffiths these days?)
Ceri Jones said the other day that 'we're in a good place' and that the competition for places has never been more fierce. Well forgive me, but I'd take a little disgruntlement in the squad if it meant we'd won more than one of our first four matches.
Of course, it's quite possible that Kingsley has no idea what our best XV is.

I've a funny feeling about this one. Definitely a potential banana skin and RP is a really difficult place to go, regardless of the team the Dragons put out. I reckon it'll be closer than most think.
