First topic message reminder :
Actually Davie, they didn't fit yours (apologies; 'idiocy' is a bit strong). Your earlier comments were all about how he'd actually done something terrible/illegal i.e. told them how to get around 3rd party ownership (he didn't) with the possible implication that he'd been knowingly involved in it (no evidence of this), took £400k for dodgy seminars (he didn't and he said he'd have to clear it with the FA) etc. You wanted him to be a crook from the off.
You also claimed Ben and I said he was 'innocent' - we said no such thing.
You never took S_R's approach re. his position being untenable because he was England manager, the one thing he probably falls foul of. His comments re. Hodgson/Nevile were unfortunate, but this was a private conversation and, actually, big deal. Seriously, the next poor schmuck who takes this on should treat the media as they deserve.
There may well be more to this - we'll see. Until then, the only thing he's 'guilty' of is putting himself in a stupid position cf. the FA's comments re. FIFA etc and forcing the FA to ask him to fall on his sword. S_R's right with this; the FA had little choice really.

It could undo all the work that's gone into it. I know it doesn't make the ball better, I know it's a cheap ball, but it doesn't perform like one, so why does it have to look like one? Very poor indeed. The name is also abysmal. "Kirkland Signature" That's just dreadful.

Apparently that's the name of the Costco top line of goods. A bit like Tesco's Finest!
Their best cutlery is called Kirkland Signature, best loo rolls and now best golf balls.....

That is an incredibly naïve oversight from them. Sheer poor business practice.
Even if the name was good instead of the dreary Kirkland Signature, the lettering still looks unbelievably cheap, however, on my trips to America, I have noticed that the fonts and lettering they use on most things look very old fashioned.

When replacing the ball on the green or teeing it up I usually put the logo out of sight anyway. If they come to the Uk I will definitely buy a pack to give them a go.

Funny that Mac, I usually tee the ball up with the logo at the back of the ball and use it as a focus point.

For me it's not so much the name (I think Titleist is pretty lame), but rather the typeface and colour. Signature just looks rubbish

It does look absolutely terrible.
Can't imagine the shame in identifying your ball on the first tee.
Right lads, I'm playing a Kirkland Signature number 1 with the logo sharpied out.

I don't understand why people declare their ball on the 1st tee. I guess it's habit for some.
Tell me when we're walking into the trees to look for it, otherwise I couldn't care less and I'm not going to remember.

Yeah, it's one of these stupid "rules" which people still think are in effect. It's a bit like the one where people think if someone else marks your ball, then that same person has to put it back. Not the case, just like you don't have to tell people what ball you are using.
Sometimes it is handy to know what people are using though, just in case of an "oddjob" or a suspiciously found ball.

I don't know much about this sordid election that's been going on here for almost two years.
But one thing I do know is that we'll be the first State to have declared Clinton their winner.
All of 3 electoral votes which isn't much but someone's got to get the ball rolling.

Jeesus! What a load of carp. Are people really so shallow as to let the font used for the name 'force' them to play ProV1s over the Kirkland offering? Sad. As if 'Titleist' makes any sense at all!
How about referring to it as a 'KSig' ball on the first tee? Actually, I kind of like the idea that someone would assume I'm scheiss due to the fact I'm playing the KSig. Happy to take their money .

No, I'm not saying that Navy, I'm asking if you think the Kirkland Signature gives you the impression it's a quality ball based on the lettering. Nothing to do with Titleist.

I wouldn't let the lettering influence whether I think it's a quality ball or not. Not sure why anyone would.

I'm not saying that Navy, I'm asking if you think this looks like a quality product due to the Pinnacle style logo?
I wouldn't drive a Vauxhall because of how it looks, even if it was a good car, hence I doubt I'd use this ball because it looks so terrible, and I like to like the look of something I use.

 I don't think it looks that terrible. I'd happily use it if it performs well at the price point quoted for it.
'Kirkland' in the font used is worse than, say, 'Titleist', 'Srixon' etc how exactly? As for the 'Signature' bit, what about TM's 'Lethal' or Srixon's 'Z-Star'? Sorry, stuff and nonsense.

Yeah, I suppose you could say that, it's more that it's just an angle that a lot of people can understand. People know the makes of cars, people understand what are the desirable makes and which are not. It's easy to make an analogy out of it.
Navy, My point about the Kirkland Signature ball is that it just sounds such a dreadful name and even worse when you realise it's like "Tesco Finest", and the print on the ball just makes it look so cheap, very similar to Pinnacle, and who wants to be associated with that. If you've gone to the bother of buying an expensive patent, why would you spoil it by putting a crap logo on? It's like taking a dump on a soufflé.

That's cool. Let everyone else continue to splurge their money on other, more expensive balls. Let's face it, golfers are nothing if not good at that sort of thing; look at the rise of TM.

Navy, I'm simply asking if you think it's a product that looks as good as it performs?
It seems crazy this company could produce (or buy) a ball that appears to be this good, but doesn't care that on appearance it seems indistinguishable from a crappy 2 piece Pinnacle.
Why wouldn't you want a Premium ball (which this allegedly is) to look like one? What sort of chump is in charge of this ball?

Taylormade are generally pretty good with the marketing, and their product is just about the best on the market.

The point is golfers buying gear simply due a perceived image i.e. the next TM driver, released 3 months after the last one, is sooo much better, you simply have to have it. After all, a mars a day helps you work rest & play.

Toblerone is embarrassing... Brexit bites. I didn't realise it was part of Mondelez (owner of Cadbury) - now there is a stupid made up name.
Often take a Snickers on to the golf course. The nuts provide a slow release of energy - it's almost a health food haha. Preferred the name Marathon though.
Super I am shocked to hear you would have a conflict of interest selling Mars bars. They only make you fat if you eat 10 a day or do no exercise.
Flake always used to be my favourite, years since I've had one though. Snowflake was poor however, I loved it when they made Anthea Turner look like a money grabbing lady of loose morals.

Hmmn. If their products and branding are so poor, why is it the number 1 driver? Why are arguably the best drivers of a ball in world golf, currently ranked 1, 2 and 3 in the OWGR using TM drivers? Why did McIlroy, still sponsored by Nike, switch to TM driver as soon as he could, when he could have picked any other driver?
Possibly you don't like TM because you're not their target market. Maybe if they brought out beige cardigans and corduroys, and sponsored Nicklaus, Alliss, and Jacklin it would appeal to you more?
I'm not biased here: I currently don't have any TM products in my bag at all, but if I was after a new driver M1 / M2 would be top of my list to test, because evidence suggests they are very good.

Sounds familiar: Last time I purchased a driver (2012?) the one that went furthest was the RBZ - but that was all over the place too. I went with Titleist in the end, 15 yards less distance but much tighter dispersion.

If you say so. All new cars seem pretty much the same to me. As long as you don't buy a brand new very low range car then you get a comfy car that will get you from A to B. What do you get in an expensive car that you don't get in a well made cheap car?

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I'm sure all buses look the same to me Mac, but I'm sure you can tell me why a top of the range National Express is better than the number 17 to Pilton to travel on.
Why not have a nice car? I do a lot of miles, and I prefer to travel in as much comfort as possible. A good car is smooth, quiet and comfortable and a long journey is less tiresome if you are in something nice, rather than a whining Micra or Corsa or something rotten like that, but as a non driver like you , I don't suppose it matters.
It's not just about getting from A to B, why do you wear clothes you like the look of? After all, you could just wear a bin bag couldn't you, after all, it serves the same purpose and is cheap.
Why do you eat a variety of food when you could get all the nutrition you need from a packet of fish fingers and a tub of vitamins?
Why do you go to the hairdressers, when you could just cut it yourself?
Why live in a building when you could just live in a tent, it will keep you warm and dry after all?
Why do you listen to music you like, when you could listen to One Dimension, it's just music isn't it?
See the point? Sometimes it's nice to have nice things because they are nice, not because you can make do with something else. Why deny yourself just because something cheaper "will do just as well". Wouldn't life be boring if all you did was just get goods and services which met minimum requirements?
You are so anti aspiration, it's almost as if you consider it immoral or wrong for one to do well for oneself and that somehow you are betraying the rest of mankind.
Why live your life just going from A to B? Why not make it a little more interesting?

You are so anti aspiration, it's almost as if you consider it immoral or wrong for one to do well for oneself and that somehow you are betraying the rest of mankind.
Why live your life just going from A to B? Why not make it a little more interesting?

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I remember taking my driving lessons in a corsa.
Wasn't to comfortable in in it.
Certainly wasn't terrible.
I've started taking the bus the odd place when I could drive for the first time in about 10 years.
Makes a nice change at times.
