Pro12 (Round 7): Leinster vs Connacht (Saturday @ 17:15 on SkySports)
Looking forward to this game.
Both sides had solid performances in the first 2 rounds of Europe.
Connacht have the edge on Leinster from the end of last year.
Irish Test squad might be limited in training this week but gives a chance for some of the youth so show what they can do.

LeinsterRugby wrote:Leinster Rugby Senior Coach Stuart Lancaster was in front of media in UCD on Tuesday and gave an injury update ahead of the Guinness PRO12 game against Connacht on Saturday in the RDS Arena (Kick Off: 5.15pm - live on SKY Sports).
Lancaster confirmed that both Johnny Sexton and Sean O'Brien had come through the Montpellier game with no issues and were both fit.
He also confirmed that Mick Kearney had passed his Head Injury Assessment during the second half of Sunday's game but did not return to the field with Ian Nagle staying on in his place.
Having been named to start at the weekend, Mike McCarthy has recovered from the illness that prevented him from travelling and kept him out of the Montpellier game, while Richardt Strauss came through the Leinster 'A' game with no issues in what was his first game of the season after knee surgery.
Both Tadhg Furlong and Rhys Ruddock will be assessed further as the week progresses from hamstring and calf injuries.
However both Dave Kearney and Cathal Marsh have been ruled out of the Connacht game.
Kearney has been slower to recover from the ankle injury suffered in the Cardiff Blues game earlier this month. Marsh suffered a torn tendon in his hand in the Leinster 'A' game and will require an operation this week.

Re: Pro12 (Round 7): Leinster vs Connacht (Saturday @ 17:15 on SkySports)
This has probably become the 'Munster v Leinster' game for a few seasons anyway. I never looked forward to the Munster/Leinster games in the past - really fierce games, good - but the passion often led to a high risk of serious injury to players on both ends - a thing Ireland International can ill afford going into an Autumn campaign.
So yes, they are enjoyable bloodthirsty battles but I dread the injuries to central players.

Connacht are just hitting their straps after a poor preseason.
Leinsters defenders will be like blind men trying to catch a fly using chop sticks with boxing gloves on.

I'm also expected a big game from Kelleher. He should have plenty of incentive for this match.
Pity about the 4th Test eating into this fixture though I guess that is an acceptable hit to take when the additional funds go towards the provinces in the end anyway (whether used for Thomond repayments, or Aki's contract... each province has a valid need for funds).

Thomond repayments = Aki's contract
Lam was told you can have Aki or a new stadium, but you can't have both...

I'm looking forward to this game,I've been really impressed with the work Lancaster has done on our defense and this will be the biggest test of that so far this year.Hopefully we see two pretty strong teams.

Excellent news that Leinster have come through on Big Weekend 2 with over 17,000 tickets sold already. Could be a full house yet. That'll be up on last season's attendance by about 3,000 or more.
Ulster have sold out their match vs Munster - 18,000.
Not bad going for the week before the first test with teams slightly depleted.

Re: Pro12 (Round 7): Leinster vs Connacht (Saturday @ 17:15 on SkySports)
Leinster:
15. Isa Nacewa (C)
14. Adam Byrne
13. Rory O’Loughlin
12. Noel Reid
11. Barry Daly
10. Joey Carbery
9. Jamison Gibson-Park
1. Cian Healy
2. Sean Cronin
3. Mike Ross
4. Mick Kearney
5. Ian Nagle
6. Dan Leavy
7. Sean O’Brien
8. Jack Conan
Replacements:
16. James Tracy
17. Peter Dooley
18. Michael Bent
19. Mike McCarthy
20. Josh van der Flier
21. Luke McGrath
22. Ross Byrne
23. Rob Kearney
That's a strong pack but a pretty callow backline,if our pack controls the game we could be alright but if Connacht come anywhere close to break even in the forwards then I think our backs could be in for a rough night.

Can someone just give the Irish job to Lam. Connacht play light years better than any of the other provinces and Ireland

The Connacht centre (not Aki) is a good player, but I'm unfamiliar with him. I'm actually unfamiliar with a few a lot of Connacht's team but they're pretty good players. Thank god Connacht found form in time for Europe.

The basketball frenetic style of this Irish derby is a complete contrast to the other style played in the derby last night. Great fun here at the RDS.

I presume you mean Peter Robb at OC. Craig Ronaldson at 12 was replaced by Ali due to injury.

Re: Pro12 (Round 7): Leinster vs Connacht (Saturday @ 17:15 on SkySports)
Really happy with that result and performance, our academy players keep stepping up and some of the hits and defensive reads from our young backs were excellent.Lancaster has done a great job on our defense since he came in and our attack still has a lot of room for improvement so there's plenty to look forward to over the next few years as a Leinster fan.
Fair play to Connacht they played their usual brand of rugby and really asked us a lot of questions although they made some errors that they'd be disappointed with,it's hard to say whether our defensive pressure forced the errors or they just had a day when they were a little bit off their usual level.

Re: Pro12 (Round 7): Leinster vs Connacht (Saturday @ 17:15 on SkySports)
Thought the academy guys did great, we need to be rotating them through the senior starting squads a little bit more.
Brilliant to see out and out pace in the Leinster backline. They stood up to a very competent Connacht backline very well.
Leinster pack won the game. They have 2 and a half packs worth of players that are comfortable at pro12 level and it shows.
