Sandy Carmichael, reflections of a Barbarian
Lovely piece in the Scotsman on Sandy Carmichael, undoubtedly one of the gentlemen of the game - I remember reading once Mighty Mouse singing his praises cos no matter how much he was provoked, Carmichael never responded to dirty play/tricks

Had pleasure of being a young guy at West when he was skipper. For a such a big guy (he'd still be big enough even by today's standards) he had a surprising turn of speed. Was always a fair player.

Before my time, but he sounds like a character - a sort of older school version of Tom Smith.
