My apprentice came in wearing a ridiculously low cut top today. So much so that one of the more senior colleagues has asked me as her line manager to raise it as inappropriate wear. So that's a conversation I don't wanna do (the 21 year old in me is enjoying her attire)
Other than that I'm fair to middling. England losing the cricket badly isn't great fun

I hate managing! For reasons like that.
Very disappointing series hey? Kohli is Magic though. Do you think Cook's going to call it a day on the captaincy. I think he should - not because of results, but because he is exuding no confidence in his own abilities with his "I'm thinking about quitting - maybe/maybe not" stuff. Then again I wouldn't want Root to concentrate on anything other than batting. So it's a toughie

Too many factions, I genuinely cannot remember what it was being called by the end. I remember there being a shift in name, but to what or if it was official I cannot remember.

Think it would be harsh on Cook. That's a very good India team in conditions that don't suit. Middling ability spinners, almost 90s level, does not help

I think he'll give it up. As I've said cook the batsman is far more important than Cook the captain and I fear if he carries on being captain it'll cause him to retire early. Root could do it and I think he'd thrive like Kohli (who is just a ridiculous batsman). Disappointing in that we've got ourselves into good positions and let them slip.

Don't get me wrong. Im not saying remove him from the captaincy. I don't think he would deserve that at all and I was right behind him last time he was pondering giving it up. All I'm saying is, this is the second time he has pondered it out aloud - so he probably should just give it up, because it doesn't portray the image of a strong captain.
If he genuinely wants to continue then grand - like I said, I don't want to see Root as captain if we can help it.

I just went to make a joke on the "What place would you most like to go back to" thread - saying "the womb". Thought I would check if anyone else had already made that joke first, and found that they had - me, in 2012
I have no idea what that says about me, but I don't think its complimentary

Whilst Coldplay may not be at the cutting edge of music, they've been consistently banging out stadium anthems for 15 years now. They're just a band that people think it's easy to mock to make themselves look cool.

Re: 6CW Chat v16
Funny, but thats a really dumb comment. Coldplay have had the most success with varied style I can think of in modern British music. All their albums sound different, its hugely impressive.
I can understand not liking them, but mundane non-criticisms are worse

Coldplay being beige isn't a non-criticism, it's calling them boring and middle of the road...I guess we hear different things but I don't hear too much variety when it comes to their music...when I think of variety in British music I think of bands like Bring Me The Horizon or Muse.

Muse went from one thing to another but didn't change wildly once they went for stadium rock. Coldplay don't sound like the band that started out at all, and most of their albums have wildly different focuses

Re: 6CW Chat v16
Isn't that a common theme for most bands and artists though? Changing as they go along? I'd hardly say they changed genres or changed wildly...that being said, I haven't listened to everything they've written but the stuff I've heard just hasn't resonated with me.

You mean 'guyliner'?!
Just the criticism of Coldplay followed by praise for BMTH. Have to agree with Dolph and ED about Coldplay, they constantly change their sound, easily one of the best bands in the world, and I'm not even a huge fan'

Re: 6CW Chat v16
I'm not sure about the rules of guyliner, never my sort of thing.
I didn't praise BMTH, I just said they've changed their sound and have a varied back catalogue. They started out playing pub venues playing metal/deathcore (for the genre snobs out there) and now play melodic metal with synth and no screaming at all...their last big performance in the UK was at the Royal Albert Hall and included the backing of an orchestra....if that's not varied I'm not sure what is.

Re: 6CW Chat v16
Coldplay definitely have more variety than Bring Me the Horizon. I'd say they have more variety than Muse as well.
I imagine if you're somebody who listens to other bands in BMTH's genre can tell the differences between subtle shifts in the style of music but to somebody who doesn't, it all sounds really similar.
If you listen to Coldplay's first album and their last album without knowing, it'd be hard to say they were the same band. Their first few breakout albums are pretty similar but starting from Viva la Vida they explored different styles and have collaborated with artists they never would have done in their early days.
I agree that it's usually just lazy criticism when it comes to Coldplay as it's "cool".
