Week 6 Tactics
Hull v Middlesbrough
WBA v Sunderland
- Hull:
- Hull v Middlesbro

Team Talk
Solid back line, look to push wingers to the outside & block crosses. If Negredo plays then keep high line, if Rashford then go deeper and man mark. When in possession look to play the ball out from the back and down the flanks, initiate counters, don’t be afraid though to hit long balls if the opposition have overstretched as we can destroy them for speed.
Midfield trio to use intelligence & awareness rather than brawn, 1 touch pass & move, spread the ball, especially look to target their LB. Kimmich to protect back four. Wingers to alternate sides, run at the defence and exploit gaps drawn by Jesus, other winger to get in the box to double up.
Jesus to be constantly on the move, drag markers with you to create space.
Subs: Maguire, Tymon, Winks, Mor, Dembele, Davies, Dawson
70m - Mor & Winks for Sabitzer & Keita.
- Middlesboro:
- ----------------------Valdes
Valencia----Van Dijk------Chiellini------Friend
--------------Rabiot---------Clayton
Dembele-----------------------------------Ribery
----------------Negredo----Rashford
Subs - Guzan, Barragan, Nsue, Clayton, Forshaw, Traore, Negredo
Midfield pair to sit deep and focus on getting the ball out to the front 4 quickly. Use the long ball to hit Negredo if passing lanes are cut off by their midfield, he can hold it up against their CBs.
Rashford/Ribery/Dembele run off Negredo, swap around positions to give the defenders more problems
Rashford drop onto deepest midfielder (Kimmich?) and don't give him time on the ball
Chiellini to man mark the main striker and marshall our defence, Van Dijk cover
DMs to support the FBs, we're confident our CB pairing can handle any main striker they have
Subs
Winning at 70 - Traore for Ribery - extra pace on counter, sit deeper
Losing at 70 - Negredo for Locatelli - 2 up top and get crosses in
WBA v Sunderland
- WBA:
- ---------------------------------------Myhill-------------------------------
Aina-------------------Tah----------------------Sule---------------Dawson
-----------------------------------------Pepe-------------------------------------------
Vazquez--------------------------Asensio---------------------------Coman
------------------------Aduriz----------------------Phillips-------------------
Subs - Evans, Mcauley
GAMEPLAN
Play crosses into box for Aduriz to finish. Pass to wingers and cross ball in. Keep doing it as Aduriz will only need 1 chance.
DEFENCE
Reliable keeper in goal. Defence to play high up as Sunderland don't have any pacy forwards. Fullbacks to make overlapping runs and get crosses into the box.
DefenceMidfield
Pepe main role defend and cut passing lanes and close down attackers. He has played this role excellently against Barcelona befire.
Wingers
Vazquez and Coman bring pace to team. Get to byline and whip in crosses for striker to finish.
AttackMid
Asensio to play quick passes with teammates and make runs into box.
Strikers
Aduriz is a classic old school striker. Very good at heading and real goal poacher. Want him use his attacking prowess to get on end of crosses and power headers in. Phillips to use pace to get in behind the defence.
- Sunderland:
Injuries
Mika
Adnan Januzaj
Jermain Defoe
Lamine Kone
--------------------------Pickford--------------------------
---Montoya---------Bartra----------Keane-----------Alonso---
------------------Gueye--------------Romeu------------------
------Lingard-----------------------------------Khazri------
---------------------------Redmond--------------------------
----------------------------Dzeko---------------------------
BENCH
Mannone
McNair
Van Aanholt
Cyprien
Arter
Abraham
Anichebe
TACTICS (150 words)
We're looking for our first win of the season. Attack from the first minute, looking to stretch their defence and have a go, especially out wide. Khazri and Lingard should stretch the game by receiving the ball wide and coming in, while Redmond has a free role behind the striker. Drift across the final third looking for space. Put balls in for Dzeko to win and get the second ball. Defensively I want us to press quickly and not let them settle on the ball, Aduriz will be upfront and he isn't the quickest so we can defend with a higher line, to compress the midfield and not give them any space to create anything. I want all five of my midfielders pressing.
SUBSTITUTIONS
If winning – Arter for Khazri, extra midfielder in a 4-3-3.
If losing – Abraham and Anichebe for Khazri and Lingard, go 4-2-4 with Abraham and Redmond wingers.

Re: Week 6 Tactics
I included everything, the subs bench as well because I'm pretty sure we agreed on everything being included bar the formation and Injuries.

Re: Week 6 Tactics
He doesn't have any subs it's just how little players he has left
I still get 150 on wordcounter.net
Wouldn't the subs bench be apart of the team no? I think it's just the subs instructions that count fella.

Re: Week 6 Tactics
Didn't we say we included subs though? I realise this is pretty petty by the way, probably should have not even brought it up tbh.

Pretty sure when they say Subs they mean instructions for ones brought on

Re: Week 6 Tactics
Yeah it's subs instructions but not the subs bench itself.
However, if it means I get a default win then take a hard line with Nadz is my view

Re: Week 6 Tactics
It's rare anyone gets a punishment anyway because there's always an argument and our rules are wrong or not good enough. So everyone may as well write 200 words next week.

You tell me Bam?
If your opponent went over by 10 words and didn't receive a punishment would you complain?

Re: Week 6 Tactics
I've tried to punish people before and it's been argued it's not worth it then I get backlash from the rest of the league because it doesn't happen..that's the point I'm making here.

I honestly wouldnt care. If it was 50 words over I'd have a problem, but not for 3 words

Re: Week 6 Tactics
I don't get what the problem is tbh. This is what is stated in the official rules:
"150 word tactics including team talk, and subs instructions" I have not added any instructions for my subs so my tactics should be fine

Re: Week 6 Tactics
Yep and I realise I made a mistake on it Nadz.
Thats why I backed off because I knew I was wrong, just cant wait til someone actually does break the rules and my point is proven.

Re: Week 6 Tactics
Why are we talking about this?
The word limit is to stop people taking the piss. Clearly no one is.
It's a none issue for me.
Miky - forget about it and send me your votes instead

Re: Week 6 Tactics
It's pretty much why Azzy left the league and potentially Viva because we discussed slight rule changes and the majority agreed and they didn't like it.

Re: Week 6 Tactics
- Hull vs Middlesbrough:
Voter One
Boro win
I expect this to be a very tight game but i feel the defence of Boro' is more like to hold out then Hull's against their respective attacks. I like Rashford & Negredo as partnership reminds me of when he was at City up top with Aguero. I expect Hull to have more possession over 90 mins but i see Jesus being kept out comfortably by Virgil & Co.
Voter Two
A really close game to call, that would normally have gone down as a draw. But I give it to Boro, just, as I feel their forward line would have more of an impact on the Hull backline than vice versa.
Boro win
Voter Three
Hull Win
Can see this being a good match but i can see Friend struggling to deal with the targetting from Hull. Rabiot and Clayton having to move over to protect the FB's will allow space for Pulisic to roam. I think in a 4-4-2 that Bam is playing it would be better getting the wingers to help the FB's out. Even if he did that though, i don't think Ribery would be defensive minded enough to be able to give Friend the protection.
Result =
Boro Win by 2 votes to 1
- WBA vs Sunderland:
Voter One
WBA Win
Both gone for high lines defensively so goals are high id expect, Nadeem has put a pacey player up top which is very smart considering the form Phillip's has been in for WBA in RL need a better RB though can see WBA leaking goals just not as many as Sunderland today. I think Trebs has fluffed up as Redmond not that creative yet Khazri is so in future id swap them around plus whilst Dzeko is in serious form aswell over 90 mins can see Tah & Sule holding up better then Sunderland's back 4.
Voter Two
With both teams playing high lines, it will be crowded in the pitch, so for me it comes down to which team has the most flair and creativity in the middle and pace up top. In both cases, its WBA, so they’re the winners for me
WBA Win
Voter Three
Sunderland Win
Even with essentially 3 central defenders, i can see them losing out to the energy in Sunderland's midfield. I can also see Dawson struggling at left back, i can't see him making overlapping runs in attack whilst managing to get back and defend.
Result =
WBA win by 2 votes to 1
