I wonder if Pelley will give Rory a pass if it doesn't play the 4 (or 5) required Euro Events.
Duh, GPB, of course he will.

It looks as if Rory is confirming his Mexico date.

Cool way to play #'s 16, 17, 18 by Chris Paisley. Birdie, eagle (hole in one), birdie, made the cut by two strokes.
McDowell back to last year's form after Thursday's excellent cameo.

No sign of nerves from the last group, both birdie the first 2 holes. Guess it's between them 2 then. Another encouraging performance from Smith. After his rise through the Pro ranks I thought he'd do ok and probably keep his card, didn't expect him to step up and regularly compete so well so early.

Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
Wang's win could get him as high as OWGR #39, depending on results on PGATour later today. And unless Ben An has a great final round to get into the Top 4 today at Torrey, Jeungwun Wang will be the highest ranked Korean tomorrow.
Today's win should be enough to get him into the Masters and definitely the WGC-Match Play. He is already qualified for the Mexico-WGC.
Incidentally, Asian Tour had a tournament this week in Myammar. Aussie Todd Sinnott won. Goes from about 700 to well inside the Top 300. Spain's Carlos Pigem finishes 2nd.

Smith looks quite the player JAS,
He is Kwini, I know guys thatve played with him and know he's good, as in very good. What amazes me is how unfazed he is each time he takes a step up. Nobody has ever gone (as far as I'm aware) Minor tour oom winner, Challenge Tour Oom winner, RTD winner. He's 2 down, one to go. You'd have say no chance as the step up from the challenge tour is huge but based on performances so far would you bet the house against it, especially if he wins a biggie like next week for example?

To qualify... my regular doubles partner played foursomes with him for County at regional level and isn't surprised at all at what he's doing currently.

JAS,
That's a pretty sporty Walker Cup Team he played on, Fitzpatrick, Kimsey, Phelan, Orrin, Shinkwin.
Not as much hoo hah as Justin Thomas, Patrick Rodgers, Michael Kim etc.
Too bad GB&I didn't show their current form back then.

Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
I like how you guys have noticed Jordan Smith's rise to the top. I'm a keen follower of the emerging talents that come through. Smith looks like the real deal and will hit the highs that the likes of Lewis, Pepperel, Parry etc have been tipped for.
Great to see Rahm winning too. Hopefully those 2 will come through and challenge their respective tours and be a big force in for European golf on both sides of the pond.
On a sidenote.... I know we all follow Martin Laird's progress here but without "Google" who can guess how much his career earnings are so far?

To be fair Mr smith didn't have a great WC in 2013, was better when Wiltshire won the County Championship in 2011 & 2012, I thought more from that squad would make the WC squad in '13, they didn't and GB & I got humped. There's quite a conveyor belt coming behind Smith, watch out for Ben Stow (won the Brab after Smith). Then there's the Loughries (Josh & Ben), Ben Amor. They've all got a decent chance of making it. Right little hotbed Wiltshire is.
Meanwhile my mate Steve, who's daughter is one of top juniors at our club is taking shedloads of flak on the twittersphere again because a whitehouse aide never checked for the right twitter account before posting :-/

Woods in a threesome (no, not with waitresses from Perkins) with Fitzpatrick & Willett.
After TW, DJ & JD missing the cut last week, what are the chances of an early bath for these three?

I had a look at the scorecard for this course and it's very short indeed. I don't know the course very well, but I'm presuming it's very tight and penal to make up for its lack of length.

Wouldn't say 7300 is excessively short Super although as a Par 72 you wouldn't say its long by tour standards these days either. It's not tight although I'm not sure if they let the rough grow in more at this time of year. There is fair sprinkling of water hazards mostly on the front 9 (2,4,5,7,9) and 18. Greens are big and quick, not excessively slopey but there are no doubt a few "nasty pin" and "sucker pin" options. There's quite a bit of risk reward in terms of the lines you could/should take on a dogleg. Depending on the breeze 17 is driveable with a big fade, 18 (Par 5) of course is takeable in 2 if you can pick the right line off the tee and the breeze isn't hurting. All depends on the conditions obviously but in normal weather you would expect the winner to be about 20 under.

I must have been mistaken JAS, I was looking on the official card of the course on the website. They must have got it wrong or put the members tees in.

Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
No worries, looks like it was long enough and tough enough to crack Woods ;-)
It's Helsingborg rather than Malmo I'm in. The jobs fine, the town itself is ok too, bit dreary at this time of year but where in Northern Europe wouldnt be at this time of year. Plenty of decent restaurants but expensive. Only had the one round so far at Rya, just South of Helsingborg, haven't quite worked out the logistics of hiring a car at the weekend, parking in town etc so cabbed it down to Rya...ouch!!! Won't be doing that again. Cost me more to get there & back than to play. Gonna do a Mac and look to get the bus to Vasatorps on a regular basis as they have a decent driving range and 3 courses.

Is this a Scandinavian thing? I looked into getting a taxi ride on my recent trip to Norway. A 35 mile round trip (for an hour or so's photography) was about double what a car hire for the day was. Are there any hidden insurance costs? I got a result as I managed to get on a coach trip to get where I wanted to go for a lot less.JAS wrote: haven't quite worked out the logistics of hiring a car at the weekend, parking in town etc so cabbed it down to Rya...ouch!!! Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
I do wonder how spasmy his back would have been if he'd been 5 under rather than 5 over. I'm no medic but with the amount of poking around that been done on his back it's inevitable that he's going to have the odd spasm. If he's gonna withdraw every time he feels one then he might as well hang up the clubs. A dash of voltarol with his muesli in the mornings should keep the spasms at bay.

According to what I read, he was OK after the round (although he didn't look comfortable to me) and at dinner but suffered the back spasm afterwards when he was in his room. Wonder what he was doing (and with whom) to cause that

Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
If you looked at Tiger's round he actually wasn't moving well from his first hole. So I don't see how the back spasms only started after his round.
Maybe it's PR to make it seem less impact-full? All I know is he looked hurt to me from the first hole on.
