Lazy Lazy journalism. Very much like the predictable headlines when Scotland lose despite trying hard. "Braveheart".

But they really disappointed last week by not using "Turkish Delight" in their headline. Some intern must have been on duty.super_realist wrote:pedro wrote:And so it was...pedro wrote:ET website headline prediction: Amazing Grace.

Why do they never use "famine" in a headline when Ireland has been playing?

You could have a lot more fun with the headlines for sure. Famine would be a good one.
Speaking of the bog trotters, I sincerely hope they don't go through, they are so bad they make England look interesting to watch.

So basically he says we'll have the Moulin Rouge dancers accompanied by Jean-Michel Jarre at the RC opening ceremony. And I bet he'll be wearing Dame Edna glasses himself.

"Smoke tunnels". Possibly the most pointless effect in sport. Adds nothing at all to the excitement or spectacle.
A dramatic entrance can add a bit of excitement to sport - I thought this worked well at the World Athletics Championships in London this summer - but smoke just looks stupid, even more so on the first tee of a golf course.

Also pretty cool how they’ve beefed up the world cup of darts.

Talking of which....
Did anyone see the Hero Challenge last night? 8 golfers trying to hit a target with a wedge. I saw a bit of it and I thought it was ok as a bit of fun. The production was a bit weak, as the target was floating out to sea and nobody could see where the balls had finished in the darkness. But Poulter had the right idea, playing in his flip flops. And Noren's wedge game is definitely on point.

All our yesterdays @ ET Q-School, with Gonzo, Hansen & Foster all up among the leaders.
But great to see the young'uns there as well, Horsfield, Syme, Jazz.
Good starts for Peter Baker, James Kingston & M-A Martin at Champions Tour Q-School first stage.

Fast finish at ET Q-School for Sam Horsfield - won by 8 strokes. As we mentioned here a few years ago, he grew up in Florida, a protege of Poults. Bright future ahead for him, and runner up Anders Hansen! Glad to see Gonzo made it - very popular in 606 days-gone-by; think Goldwolf voted him the best dressed man on Tour. Didn't do him much good in the US, not sure why

Good to see my golf coach's son Connor Syme get his card.
What a year, Walker Cup, 3 made cuts in his first 3 pro starts and walking Q School. Keep your eye out for him.

Poulter probably needs at least a top 5 to get comfortably inside the Top 50 at year end.
That would project him to #46, leaping ahead of Henley, Stanley, Woodland, Haas, Moore and Kodaira. But Sneds and Zach have a chance to remain ahead of him. Especially Sneds with his position after 36 holes.
Not sure of the remaining schedules of any of the bubble players. Poulter is not playing Hong Kong for sure.

Tommy Fleetwood wins the Race to Dubai. I notice that wiining the R2D elevates him to Category 1 on the ET exemption list. Does it get him anything else? Any particular invites? I note that Major winners get Life Membership of the ET, along with those who get to No 1 in the OWGR.

Re: European Tour 2017 DP World Tour Championship
Anything else? Don't think so, other than what he's already earned.
princedrac has Sneds at 49 or 50, Poults at 53.
CORRECTION: pd has Snedeker & Woodland (already qualified for Augusta) tied at #49.
Looking forward to his year end extrapolation, but surely Sneds's low divisor must assist him, though obviously no (significant) points recently. And, whatever happens in the next few weeks, he still has his happy hunting grounds in San Diego and Pebble Beach to prosper at.
