Who's your favourite to win the 2017 Royal Rumble
First topic message reminder :
With 3 weeks to go until the show at the Alamo-dome there doesn't appear to be an obvious favourite to win the Rumble this year. Over previous years it's been more often then not revealed a few weeks before hand that someone is booked in to win yet a few weeks away nothing seems to be set in stone apart from Brock vs Goldberg.
So who's your favourite for the Rumble?
Any surprises Returns or Debuts?

- Who HBK wants if unretired:
- "I look at Samoa Joe and I've told him a number of times that I see his stuff at NXT and think to myself, 'Man, I could have a great deal of fun with you.' He's a guy I have sort of enjoyed, and one of those sleeper guys that no one talks about.
"We have contrasting styles. I get that everybody wants to see me and AJ or Seth or Dolph [Ziggler]. From my standpoint, I think really telling a great story out there [is most important]. I could do it with a guy like Samoa Joe. His stuff looks really good, and sometimes he just looks like he's beating the tar out of somebody."

- Spoiler:
- I'm glad that Michaels recognises that putting him up against somebody similar isn't going to produce the best match. I always feel like the best matches generally involve two contrasting styles, when two people get in the ring who are too similar and play basically the same role in their matches it ends up a little flat.

There'll be the Andre the Giant Battle Royal too. I'd probably give Big Cass that.
And we are getting Shaq vs Big Show whether we like it or not.
I'd really hope that match makes the main show, Usos and American Alpha have the potential to have one of those long term fueds so having a match on the WrestleMania card would not only be good for the show short term but I also think it'd be good for their riviarly long term, plus I think they'll need to put one of the tag title matches on the show.
I was thinking SD Tag Titles & RAW's Women's Title would make the cut while the RAW Tags & SD womans Title matches would be on the pre-show.
Pretty sure the Andre Memorial will be pre show again this year.

Re: Who's your favourite to win the 2017 Royal Rumble
I'd bring back the Money In The Bank Match for WrestleMania and make it the winner of the Mania MitB can go after either World Title, that means they can still keep their brand specific MitB match ups where the SD winner can only go after the SD Title and vice versa.
The caveat for a WrestleMania MitB being the 6 men involved (3 RAW - 3 SD) would not be a past World Champion in WWE - This would exclude guys who are forever booked in these type of matches like Ziggler, Miz, Jericho, Kane, Henry, Shaemus, Big Show (I know he'll be busy with Shaq) etc...
I'd also have a bi-yearly rule where anyone competing in the WrestleMania MitB match would automatically be ineligible for the following years Mania MitB match, no-one is allowed to compete two years running

I would rather just have one MitB match a year and if a SmackDown guy wins it he can challenge for the SmackDown title and same with RAW. I dont want a return to 3 MitB matches a year as it takes all the shine and shock off a cash in.

I'd be having one MiTB match a year and the guy can choose whatever brand's title he wants. Every few weeks have him turn up at the brand he isn't signed to, have the powerplay of GMs trying to keep their man on their show or tempt them away.

Are there two MitBs set for this year?
I know the PPV is booked for June but that could easily change its name and premise

Knowing WWE they'll have four MITB Ladder matches at the MITB PPV, 1 for each brands men and women division

Just for a bit of fun, try and predict the final 4, and this years marathon man. It's always a big moment when the last 4 guys stand in each corner having a stare down. I'll go for....
Strowman
Taker
Samoa Joe
Finn Balor
Marathon man - Seth Rollins. I think he'll enter first 3 and end up being eliminated by HHH towards the end.
Go....

Re: Who's your favourite to win the 2017 Royal Rumble
Can we see a Goldberg win and then Brock goading him into a winner gets Mania spot match at fastlane?! It would free up both to take on current talent at Mania-- there have been rumours swirling that they may pull trigger on rematch before Mania....
Latest rumours also have Reigns taking on Strowman...abnd Taker vs Finn Balor....its interesting being this close to Mania and their being so many options and directions to go in...just hope they pull thr trigger on the right guys and reward those who havr carried the company for past 12 months. With Triple H, Undertaker, Goldberg, Brock and a Dwayne Johnson appearance to squeeze in plus the now seemingly increased likelihood of Shane having a match I fear the likes of Charlotte, AJ, Miz etc will all take a back seat in the grand scheme.
That being said, this could well be the most intriguing road to wrestlemania they have had in a very long time

I hope to god they don't give the win to Goldberg! Please please! I want to see one of the full time members win it truth be told because I feel like Mania already puts the most of its spotlight on past performers and part timers these days.

I'd put a wager on Kenny Omega turning up.
I also think Big Cass at 16/1 for most eliminations is a great bet.

I did see Omega and AJ Styles to both enter at 16/1, although that's only going to happen if Styles loses the title to Cena.

His contract expires 2 days later, the 'E would buy that out quite easily.
Makes more sense to have Styles drop the belt at the EC. Multi man matches seem to protect the champ, and we know how Cena kills anyones momentum.

NJPW I don't think could stop Omega entering the Rumble as I don't think his contract is exclusive and allows him to work other promotions

It might allow him to work the Indy scene, but i think the 'E would be out of bounds.
It could be smoke and mirrors, but surely NJPW getting something out of Omega appearing there would be beneficial to them.

Until recently NJPW didn't necessarily see WWE as competition as NJPW didn't have much of an American presence but that's changing sure their guys appeared on TNA/ROH and others
Its WWE who want the exclusivity or until recently they worked that way, they didn't want another Luger/Madusa situation it still may work against Omega if they are afraid of NJPW using him to promote their show on AXS while hes in WWE but it didn't stop them with AJ

Not sure of the odds, but if anyone is breaking the most eliminations record it's Braun Strowman. Strong rumours all over the place that suggest he will break Roman Reigns record in order to begin the major push that will see him square off against one of Brock, Goldberg or Indeed Reigns himself for the title at Mania.
With Smackdown confirming the Elimination Chamber match is for the title..I'm starting to think we will get a RAW rumble winner guaranteed.

Randy Orton is currently the bookies favourite to win. As much as I like Orton it'd be seriously underwhelming. Wyatt winning the title at EC perhaps? I don't think that fued is or needs to be title worthy.

Re: Who's your favourite to win the 2017 Royal Rumble
And I'll be honest, after his resume of work over past 12 months would be a travesty to see Bray or Randy in that title match over AJ! I really think AJ should be winning the title back at Mania...even if it's against John Cena in another match! Cement himself as the man of the future with a win like that! Bray and Randy have done nothing to warrant carrying the major title into or out of Mania!

Re: Who's your favourite to win the 2017 Royal Rumble
I've enjoyed Cena lately and that's saying something as I've been one of his biggest critics over the years. That being said their are still little things that bug me about him, more so because I feel he does things which takes the shine off his opponents...such as the pandering to the crowd, with the bowing and the funny faces etc..I get he's a baby face and his role is to interact but he does it at the wrong times on occasions and it overshadows others moment. That being said..AJ actually does a good job of limiting it by his constant stopping to tell Cena to stop talking etc..
I really wouldn't mind Cena picking up the strap at Rumble and then somehow AJ forces his way into a rematch at Mania...perhaps even a triple threat and he goes over Cena clean one final team. It would be a great way to end a fantastic 12 months and I feel it would legitimise his run and really place him at the forefront of the Brand and WWE in general.

He seemed like the old rapper Cena and it almost seemed like he was wanting to start rapping about AJ
Also got the feeling he wasn't just talking to AJ, maybe responding to what some people have been saying recently

If it's Samoa Joe I can't see it not being for the title..the monster push that the 'dirt sheets' would seem to suggest require more than just a standard win over Cena..especially if he picks up the title and drops it a month later..a win over him would hold very little imo...ok not very little but wouldn't be seen as a huge victory.
