The Trump Presidency
First topic message reminder :
Well, since the last thread got terminated, I thought I'd open a new one as I think Trump's Presidency is potentially quite an important event (one way or the other), so we should talk about it.
Let's at least try to argue points raised rather than sling any personal insults (not that I mind).
To kick off, what on Earth is that Kellyanne Conway doing promoting Ivanka Trump's fashion line and does the Donald seriously think it's OK to weigh in as he's done??? With any luck, some legal eagles will tear Conway down somewhat and someone (anyone!) will convince Trump to stop tweeting. In fact, does anyone in the Administration know what they're doing? A less suitable press officer than Spicer is hard to imagine but to be fair to the guy, it must be difficult fielding media comments when he's having to make it up on the hoof.

Not a sentence as surprising as you'd think.

Yes, certainly. I mean, appointing a former CEO of Exxon with zero diplomatic or political experience as your Secretary of State wasn't enough of a clue, I suppose.

But none in diplomacy and the workings of politics. To assume that being Secretary of State is just "wining and dining VIPs" is a little ignorant.

Incredible that the huge scandal surrounding the POTUS is hardly even worthy of discussion on this forum. These headlines are daily now.

Maybe that is part of trumps plan.
The man is just such a grade a bumhole he still spends his time ragging on Obama and Hilary instead of doing some actual work.

Yep, he's about as much of an ar5ehole as it's possible to be. The fact he's POTUS should be a concern for everyone and certainly for the American political scene.

Re: The Trump Presidency
This was pretty good:
"Trump makes Nixon look like a true statesman and a venerable historic figure. In fact Nixon's foreign policy initiatives - breaking the ice with China, and facing the reality the Vietnam war was un-winnable, were farsighted and with hindsight, laudable achievements. That's not to say he was not an extremely devious character, capable of almost anything to bring an opponent down, as Watergate bears witness to, but Trump has no redeeming features whatsoever, he is a complete idiot on the world stage, hopelessly out of place, understands nothing about any protocols, acts like a drunken boor at a wedding, simply the worst kind of embarrassing guest anyone could have to put up with.
Every day brings yet more madness from this absurdly vain, self obsessed ignoramus, he doesn't even have the guile of past dictators of the world, Hitler, Mussolini, Gaddafi, Hussein, Castro were all actually highly intelligent men in their own Machiavellian ways, as well as being monsters, they didn't just swank around boasting about themselves all day, they actually did stuff, terrible as it was, Trump does nothing except play golf, openly boasts he's never read a book, wallows in his own ignorance as though it were a mark of honour. His imbecility literally leaves you speechless, it makes me despair that we have to live through his time in office, why could not the same fate befall him as befell good men like Kennedy & King, but he'll probably live to be a hundred."

I don't see what the problem with Trump being president in if it results in articles like this. Far more entertaining than the fawning, insipid drivel written about Obama and how cool and chilled he is.

Trump commenting that it was a great day at the White House. Seriously the man is delusional, as all this does is show his appalling judgement is who he is appointing to the various roles in his close staff.

He's a bell-end, propped up by the deluded and scammed. I like how he appears to want to appoint military men, as if that makes things look organised or somehow assuages his guilt over avoiding the Vietnam draft, insulting McCain or that 'Gold Star' family.

Re: The Trump Presidency
I'm pretty sure he still thinks he's filming The Apprentice and that regularly hiring and firing people willy nilly will win ratings...I mean voter approval.
Also, being forced to sign a piece of legislation he doesn't even approve of just shows he's basically a puppet controlled by Congress. His petulant Tweets afterwards only reinforce his image as a spoilt rich kid who never grew up.
Seems one of the scenarios I predicted is playing out. Absolute chaos in the White House where only yes-men are tolerated. Alienation from the rest of government who appear to be taking a stand against him and making many of his election promises look empty.
Way things are going at the moment I don't see Donny winning a second term.

Re: The Trump Presidency
Think GOP Senators may seek to enforce LBJ's 25th Amendment and move Trump out on Health grounds if things get too bad...Use Pence as an Acting President..
Problems for the GOP when it comes to impeachment are..
1. Economy is doing better than when he arrived in January...
2. Plenty more jobs.
3. Trump has a positive rating in the South East and the rust belt states..
4. Trump brought in non voters and floaters in 2016...The GOP Senators and Congressmen will think as well as the tribal vote..Trump may add a few of them to the ticket.

The 'man' is a p***k:
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/donald-trump-real-fake-news_uk_598805a2e4b08b75dcc7bd50
US politics is so partisan now, they'd rather one of their 'own', even if he's an utter disgrace. This isn't (or shouldn't be) about Republicans vs. Democrats; it's about having someone as POTUS who's more than a bullying, spoilt, fantasist, lying, man-baby. The GOP needs a lot more like Jeff Flake to come out of the woodwork and the World needs someone to come up with the 'smoking gun' to give Trump nowhere to run and get him impeached/arrested/Sectioned...

Trump has a positive rating in 17 states...and is holding water in places like Texas.
67 percent of Senators are needed for impeachment..
Just won't happen before the half terms and even then there are more Democratic seats in play.
The economy is doing fine.....For most people that is all that matters.
Backwater Kentuckians aren't really bothered about Russia.
Best to remember that.

The GoP May may not like Trump but can they really turn their nose up at the guy who won the white house. Better to work with him and try to accomplish some of your aims than drive more deadlock because you think he's a knob

Re: The Trump Presidency
Oh, I do. Ignoring potential malfeasance on the level he's potentially been playing at isn't really a goer though is it? OK for your backwater Kentuckians maybe, but not for officialdom. At least, not if they still want to be considered a credible 'Leader of the Free World'...TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Trump has a positive rating in 17 states...and is holding water in places like Texas.
67 percent of Senators are needed for impeachment..
Just won't happen before the half terms and even then there are more Democratic seats in play.
The economy is doing fine.....For most people that is all that matters.
Backwater Kentuckians aren't really bothered about Russia.
Best to remember that.
Then again, power is worth everything isn't it? It's pathetic.

Re: The Trump Presidency
If you were to get rid of every leader that was a dick you wouldn't have many left.
If you are looking for a politician that is whiter than white..I suggest you take your head out of your ass.
