First topic message reminder :
I understand that some players haven't had a break for a while, but still, either it's a must-win game (with a bonus point) or it isn't.

wayne wrote:So basically, NOT even Newport RFC members were interested in the result of this exercise, just over a thousand were eligible to vote, and even with the chance to Postal Vote, Proxy Vote or attend on the night, only 429 could be bothered 351 voted Yes and 78 No.
So in reality the best opportunity for survival of Regional Rugby in Gwent has been seized, let's now hope the rest of the County joins in.
Maybe their way way of abstaining since Newport RFC were shafted whatever the result. Also, the reporting on the matter leading up to the vote which leant heavily and unfairly on shareholders wasn't helpful. Been suggested on twitter that some felt pressured into voting yes and won't be supporting anymore. We'll see I spose.
Was also suggested on twitter that TB wanted to go, but they didn't want to let him in. You can't make it up mun.

I'm tending to agree at this moment in time until something persuades me otherwise.
With the East being based at new CAP, I spose.

For that to happen wouldn't Scarlets and Ospreys have to join forces?
Cant see that happening

If I remember correctly there were great ructions in Swansea, Neath and Llanelli such that the 5 club breakdown that emerged was not the one we ended up with.
I seem to recall Llanelli were put in with one of the other two and raised merry hell.
Obviously there will be Welsh posters who will remember better than I do, but its seems it would just raise the old regional carve up animosity that occurred before

Except this time, the Turks are skint and have no leverage with the WRU.

Front Wayne so numbers only 35% of those eligible to vote , voted for the WRU take over hardly the the 75% for the motion to go through!

That myth again. I don't believe there are that many of these "folk" though. A few dozen possibly and is it true that compared to the Drags, Newport RFC had double the number of ST holders outside the walls prior to Dragonalism? Tells you something.

Wouldn't "join forces" per se....
WRU takeover both. Announce that one aint working. Shut it down. Left with one, job done.
Something like that.

Not really as it was 13 years ago.
I still think its a bit sad that middle aged men wont attend a game because the team have a word in their name they don't like or they don't like the colour.
Seems a very childish thing to get all worked up about.

I agree. But equally silly when that silliness is used to dismiss very valid concerns about the way pro rugby has been run in our neck of the woods.

Me and around 4 or 5 others on the North Terrace will be renewing ST anyway, including our mate from London who comes to the odd game.
If it is just 'Dragons' I'd really like a better logo - needs a big rebrand - the tail thing is awful.

Hoops. I've always been a fan of hooped jerseys.
Western Stormers Blue and white hoops was my favourite back in the day.

Re: Newport Gwent Dragons 2016/17 thread
Yeah probably.
A new jersey is the least of our worries, but if the ownership and the name is changing, they might want to tweak the shirt a bit too.
I'd be happy for our away shirt of the last few seasons become our home shirt.

Re: Newport Gwent Dragons 2016/17 thread
Oh heck. Blue and Black hoops would definitely get the natives restless. We were already "copying Cardiff" with a completely different Blue.
I can't see the one shirt as it is blocked in work, but I think Munkian's was my favourite one until our current one came out. That said I didn't mind the one for the 15/16 season either, before they changed it to match the supporters' one.

Re: Newport Gwent Dragons 2016/17 thread
Shirt designs are already locked in for next season. Home colours will remain the same, although I imagine we will have just the tail logo, much like the away kit does now.
My favourite is this year's blue, Gwent blue, although I did like the blue and black one from a couple of years back.
I suppose branding could (and I don't know anything, just supposing) be up for grabs moving forward....depends on our new owners.
