Yes, I imagine most footballers are some thought of drug, prescribed by the club doctors. My point was, that although Sakho was wrong suspended by UEFA because the drugs were not on the banned substances list, he still took drugs he shouldn't have because the club doctors never prescribed nor allowed him to take them.
It's also important to note, the drugs he took were fat reducing drugs because he had problems remaining fit, most likely due to his unprofessional attitude which he has shown throughout his career.

If they're not on the banned substances list he doesn't have to get permission from the club doctor to use them, it's his own personal choice.

You don't have to, but it's a pretty good idea to. Hence why the club and Klopp were so annoyed with him. His unprofessional behaviour on the trip only exasperated the issue. Sakho's stupidity cost him a game in the late Europa League stages, Euro 2016 in his own country and ultimately his place in Liverpool's squad. No excuses really.

I don't see how that's the case when the substance wasn't banned.

You can't see how a football player taking a medical substance without first informing the club and it's medical staff would be a problem? Had the club been made aware of Sakho's intention to take a fat burner, the whole mess wouldn't have happened.

Does he also have to tell the club when he's going to the loo everyday? I agree with HH, so long as its not on the banned list he's doing nothing wrong

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Marco Silva has stepped down as Hull City’s manager after a meeting with the relegated club’s owners on Wednesday night and is weighing up interest from Watford and Crystal Palace to prolong his stay in the Premier League.
The Portuguese met Assem and Ehab Allam at the Hallmark hotel in North Ferriby and confirmed his intention to leave the KCom Stadium, effectively as a free agent, after five months. The 39-year-old’s preference has been to remain in the English top flight, despite reports from Portugal that Porto were keen to lure him home, and Palace and Watford have made clear their interest with his representatives.
Those clubs are managerless and considering their options following the resignation of Sam Allardyce and sacking of Walter Mazzarri respectively, though the financial package potentially on offer to Silva at Vicarage Road would trump that likely to be proposed at Selhurst Park. Silva is deliberating his next move and, should he make clear he considers a switch to Watford more tempting, Palace will turn their attention more vigorously to the pursuit of the Burnley manager, Sean Dyche, whose achievement in steering the Lancashire club to safety this season has not gone unnoticed.

Can't blame him really, he did a good job with Hull before those final few games and there's interest from better clubs.

He's not had great experiences with the big Portuguese clubs. Sacked at Sporting for not wearing a suit supposedly.

Portuguese football can be a bit of a dead end to be fair.

More money in PL as well.
Imagine the idea is that if he can do well at a smaller club, the bigger clubs will quickly snap him up.

For a start Porto is a bigger job than bottom half PL sides.
Titles in Portugal and a decent run in Europe are far more likely to land you a big job than surviving relegation with Crystal Palace etc.
Managers rarely seem to transition from small to big clubs in England.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Marco de Silva made a decision to join Hull in the Premiership even though they looked doomed to relegation for many reasons. He said he wanted to prove himself in the Premiership. I suppose that is still the case hence perhaps the reason he hasn't automatically accepted the Porto offer (assuming it has been offered to him). No official announcements have been made so far.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
The BBC announced the move about 90 minutes ago (14:30 pm). Silva must have found his own expectations matched the expectations of the owners. It would be interesting to know exactly what the owners expect for their investments.
As regards Wengers future I think it is going to be entirely Wengers decision. I imagine the board are keen to keep him on.

If Arsenal ever do decide to spend big money on transfers, they're going to be hard to stop. They're in London, have a massive stadium and plenty of fans. Apart from the fact that they haven't won the title in years, they're a well run club. Wenger deserves credit for keeping them significant.

On the basis we are an absolute mess of a club when it comes to injuries, really happy to see we've taken on Gary Lewin as our new head of medical services

Interestingly, in all the van Dijk reporting, it's seen as Puel is gone at Southampton but they won't announce it till they have a replacement

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
He was unpopular with players and the fans, think his season on paper was success, finishing 8th and a League Cup Final but makes sense if they can't plan with him long term to bring somebody they think they can. I wonder if Tuchel is on their radar, you'd expect him to sign for a bigger club but considering he's left Dortmund under a bit of a cloud and no big clubs are in the market for a manager right now, they may think it's worth a shot?

Zlatan release confirmed.
Hope it was amicable, would have been a good gesture to keep him on and allow him to do his rehab with us - I'm sure something could have been sorted RE wages.

Zlatan isnt an all time great or even World Class until he has proven he can bang in goals on a cold tuesday night against the likes of Burton & Bristol City etc..
Luckily for him Middlesbrough are looking for a striker
Wonder who he will go to...the wages are a major turn off for likes of Real etc given his age. China do we think?

Yes he played a part in getting us promoted, how he got given keeper of the year was beyond me. Made countless of mistakes, including costing us the title.
His attention seeking behaviour on social media post season, has been the final straw for me though. Don't like seeing people like that at the club.

Liverpool's fixture list is okay, all the big games are spread out pretty evenly, only niggle is that in the first half of the season they'll come after European games, but on the flipside, the other top sides will be playing Europe as well.
