Election Debates
A number of debates are taking place. Below is May v Corbyn. What is everyones' view on the debate? who do you think came out on top? Did the debate change your mind on who you will vote for or convince you who to vote for if you were undecided?

Consensus had Corbyn winning probably because he had the lowest threshold of the two...but they don't as a rule really mean a lot.......I had it a draw..

Re: Election Debates
Leaders debate tomorrow and Labour still haven't decided who is going.......My advice is Corbyn should do it....Take his crap and say "well at least I'm here and not hiding...Thought she was strong"........
Labour manifesto is more popular than the Conservative one but the Labour leader isn't...
Sell yourself.........Still time..

Just watched this, Paxman is a shadow of what he once was. All he did was interrupt. At one point, Corbyn asked whether he could finish answering Paxman's question and Paxman said no!

Re: Election Debates
Paxman got some solid blows in on both - Corbyn on security and May on her U-turns/strong and stable nonsense. But overall he was pretty terrible, Andrew Neil is now far better.
I genuinely thought Corbyn did pretty well, compared to Ed Milband who was more on the 'did well, but only because we thought he would be totally useless'. Having said that, May will still piss this election.
On the ratings though, May vs Corbyn - 2.79m (Peaked at just over 3m). Can't imagine it will change anything.

I think it is not so much who watches it but the reviews and little highlight videos we get. I am guessing the number of people who have seen the highlights on sky's website or on the bbc website etc will be far higher

Yougov....Con 42....Labour 38..
ICM......... Con 45....Labour 33..
One is Hung parliament..The other a big majority..
My guess is ICM is more accurate.....But plenty of time to change and Corbyn had a nightmare day.

Re: Election Debates
I think in the above interview Corbyn comes across very well. He was never academically strong at school which a lot of people can relate to. He spent his teenage years asa paper boy delivering newspapers and after school he went to Jamaica to volunteer to help people diagnosed with polio. He spent years protesting against apartheid.
He is truly a genuine man and I think the public are warming to him more with every interview and debate he does.

Those polls are from the weekend so the effect of the debate and his radio performance won't be in them.

Re: Election Debates
All of the above may well be true and if he's a genuine politician, so much the better. It doesn't alter the fact that he needs an orchard of money trees to implement what they've promised. I don't really care if he's nasty as Hell, as long as I get honest and properly costed policies. Just for balance, I think the Tories behaviour over their proposals is at least as bad.Musclular-mouse wrote:I think in the above interview Corbyn comes across very well. It helps that Jeremy Corbyn is an actual real person, not been pumped out by whatever machine they have to create most of the identical, robotic politicians.

That is the Tories all ends up. They are exactly the same in Scotland. Absolutely jack **** on policies and just vote for us to save the union or a vote for Labour is a vote for the SNP. Quite pathetic really.
In my observations Corbyn comes across as a human being that cares whilst May comes across as...well I can't say it without being banned.

It's quite pathetic being a political party with one policy but you still vote for them Craig and a human being does not cosy up to the IRA.

Not sure what it says about the state of politics that "he seems like a nice guy" is a major talking point.
One of the most dour campaigns I can remember. Tories have assumed they've won and just dragged the whole thing down.

Hmm try and get hold of election leaflets from Scotland. If you do it will tell you it is Tories that have no policies but SNP have plenty as do Labour to their credit.

Tories on not costing their policies have proven it's better to keep quiet and be considered an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Don't think your average voter cares about the costings that much until Diane Abbott looks like an idiot on tv.

To an extent I suspect they were always likely to narrow near polling day anyway.
Corbyn much better campaigning than he is leading, Mays just tried to drop anchor.

I want the Tories to win this election...I just want the kids to make it closer.
Who in the right mind wants to deal with the nightmare of Brexit ??..and it will be a nightmare especially with her negotiating.
Labour get a good leader after June 8 and watch the disaster unfold..
Good election to lose..

The Tories could do worse than sending Boris Johnson in that case, he'll irritate some but I'd expect him to have a clear upper hand on Corbyn.GSC wrote:Corbyns finally wised up, will turn up to the debate May is skipping. Angus Robertson and Amber Rudd taking Sturgeon Surgeon and Mays places

I hope you have some evidence that Corbyn is an "IRA appeaser". Pretty libelous, if not.

Surely it's simply a statement of fact. Anyone involved in the Good Friday Agreement can be seen as so. To go further, he's refused to speak out against them on a number of occassions and had meetings with a number of IRA leaders/those involved with the IRA. That's not to say this is anything different to what government officials were doing, but I don't think it could be seen as libellous.

No, but the fact she is actually an ex-member of the IRA and not just an alleged supporter is an important thing to recognize.
