Out first is Bad Luck Fale, Hangman Page, and Yujiro Takahashi, who heads to the ring with two ladies by his side. One of them in an outfit that would not be considered PG. Some fighting spirit shown early on by Roa and Rowe, each pulling off big moves to no effect. German suplex on Roa finally slows things down before Tonga gets in. Hanson with clubbing blows to put Tonga down. All four men pull off a number of moves on each other and the action comes to a pause as all four are down on the mat. Tonga vs. Rowe, back and forth elbows/forearms, neither seeming to have much effect. Rowe is no leaning into the Tonga's strikes! The ref is trying to gain control as they go into the ropes. Action to the outside for a minute, but they make their way back in and are chopping the hell out of each other! Tanahashi has his right arm taped up and seems to be more jacked up than usual to put Naito down. Corner strikes by both wrestlers, Naito started to work on Tanahashi's injured arm. Announcers say Naito plans to vacate the title (or get it retired) because there are too many in NJPW with the addition of the US Championship. "Everyone will have a title." Naito gets tranquillo in the ring as the crowd isn't sure whether to cheer or boo him. Naito goes to the outside and continues working that injured arm against the barricade. Ref starts 20-count on Tanahashi and he gets back in at 19!

Naito is relentlessly working on the arm, despite Tanahashi's foot on the rope, he continues to hold. Another taunt by Naito, Tanahashi starts throwing punches to Naito's stomach, but is quickly stopped with some kicks to the head. He then taunts Okada to hit him and Okada doesn't go for it. They exchange side headlocks/head scissors. Omega into the ropes, Okada almost hits Omega, but just pats him on the back. Plenty of counters early, Okada goes for a senton over the ropes, blocked by the knees. Early attempt at One Winged Angel, but Okada escapes.

Action moves to the floor, Omega sends Okada's knee right into the apron and the champ crumbles to the ground. Another drop on his knee right into the announcer table! The Young Bucks and Omega admire the replay as the ref begins his 20-count. Okada gets back in the ring, but Omega has been dominant thus far into the match. Omega attempts some redirection, but gets caught with a dropkick to the face. Okada hits a flapjack, and remains on the mat. Crowd is into the match, but is not yet as vocal as they were for Naito/Tanahashi. Okada tries to slow things down with a submission, but Omega eventually makes his way to the ropes.

Action spills to the outside as Okada jumps over the barricade and takes out Omega. They get back to the ring, tombstone reversals by both wrestlers. Okada nearly sends Omega again to the outside table. Springboard by Omega gets countered by a dropkick. Rainmaker attempt, Kenny feels it coming and backs Okada into the corner. They get back into the ring and Omega absorbs another four (yes, four!) running dropkicks. Pin attempt and Omega's arm is under the bottom rope to break the count.

Omega stands over Omega as he weakly wails at Okada. Rainmaker! He holds on and yanks Omega back to his feet, another Rainmaker, but Okada doesn't go for the pin. Gedo is yelling to "Finish him!" as Okada tells the ref to check on Omega. Omega says "No" over and over. Out from the back comes The Bullet Club and Cody has a towel. Omega goes up for his finisher, Okada continues to fight the move and Omega hits it by the ropes. Okada gets his foot on the rope just before the 3 count! Crowd is going nuts.

Taunt by Omega and he is on the receiving end of yet another Rainmaker, both men down though and ref begins his count. Both wrestlers work their way up, both are completely exhausted sending forearms each other's way very slowly. The pace picks up and Okada ends up falling down after a big strike. Snap dragon suplex and Kenny is amped up, but he walked right into another dropkick. Passing the 50 minute mark, both men with multiple forearms, Omega with two knee strikes, pin, 2-count!

Omega drops his knee pad and hits a running knee to the back of Okada's head. One Winged Angel reversed into a Tombstone by Okada. It was still a brilliant match but it became fairly obvious with 5-10 minutes left they were playing for a draw, every time someone got a run of offence together someone would do a cut off and they'd lay around for 30 secs- a minute, I think it tells the story of Omega inching closer to the belt but I'm glad I didn't know the result before I watched the match as the last 10 minutes would die without that drama ****1/2

I think it would of been better if Omega hit the OWA in the last 60 seconds and Okada got his foot on the rope. Build up to finally getting it hit & thinking it's in the bag Laugh

Still preferred the Kushida vs Hiromu match on the show. The story was there & the match was awesome *****

Haven't got to that match yet, watched the undercard up to Elgin/Cody them skipped to the main event as if I hadn't watched it this morning I would have had to avoid spoilers until tomorrow

I think I'm the high man compared to reviews I've seen but I loved the Jr Tag match, the Bucks were sensational and my heart was bleeding for Trent, anyone who criticises the Buck's style should watch this match, up there with any southern tag I'd care to mention ****1/2

I'm also really enjoying Kelly & Cyrus on commentary

Meltzer has given Omega vs Okada II 6.25 stars. On a second viewing I must admit I enjoyed it more than the first match.

I don't see it myself tbh, I rewatched it as well and I enjoyed it more but I can't put it above the first match

Mad props to Meltzer for trolling the star nerds though

Cornette Meltzer feud incoming. Gonna be fun

If official though it makes it WONs greatest match of all time given the first match shared the 6* rating with a Misawa match in 1994 and an untelevised Flair vs Steamboat match

I think it had more drama and slightly better storytelling, even if the end was a bit telegraphed. I think the way it was booked (I especially like Okada refusing the easy way out and trying to get the pin - superface) gives great options going forward. I can see Cody beating Okada and Omega being pissed that he stole his win, leading to a full blown Bullet Club implosion. Omega can then beat Cody for the title but not be content because he didnt beat Okada, so he challenges him to a rematch at Wrestle Kingdom 12 for the title so he can feel validated in his own mind.
