Well 4 times as many people die every year from guns and nobody cares.
But 9/11...
Why do you bother ??.........Bless you.

What a strange response. Who said anything about 9/11? My point was that Trump was advocating that last week's attacker should be sent to Gitmo, but he said practically nothing about the guy that murdered more people in Las Vegas.

That isn't true he said a lot about the Vegas shooter.... But its funny how you seem to stick up for Corbyn on here over his relationship with the IRA.. A guy who practically said little about IRA violence while jumping on violence elsewhere.
Not suggesting you have double standards or anything.

Whataboutery of the highest order, old boy. Well done.
Did Trump call for the Vegas shooter to be sent to Gitmo? Or for him to be put to death?
I find it extraordinary that you keep sticking up for him. Testament to the Americans' blind loyalty to their President.

Perhaps they should add a special graveyard at Gitmo for them and then it'd work going forward?

So no attempt to address the actual argument, as usual, then Truss? You seem to want to make this about me and not the Tangerine-in-Chief.
I'm saying that Trump has different standards when dealing with mass-murder in the US. If the killer is white, attempts are made to deflect the argument away from gun controls. When the attacker is Muslim, the usual anti-Muslim rhetoric comes out. Do you disagree with that?

Let's move on....
Trump is on 37 percent approval rating.. Which despite being 6 percent above May over here is a record low for any President at this stage of his Presidency...Not good.
Next lowest was Truman who had the WW2 aftermath and the problem of following the great FDR

Guilty of deflecting from the Trump witch hunt generally based on unsubstantiated opinion by posters who more than likely resent the fact he is successful and right wing.

Anyone wanting a firearm like too many do in the States has mental issues, regardless of colour. Anyone who advocates for more guns in order to prevent mass murder in churches etc, has a screw loose. Maybe a .50 cal in the pulpit would help?Pr4wn wrote:Seems all the white shooters have mental issues.

I don't believe that clay pigeon or target shooting is odd, it's a hobby in the same way that archery is.
However, collecting guns, believing you need a gun to protect your family, those are weird. Lots of people in the US are obsessed with guns.

^^^ This. I have no problem with shotguns and clay pigeon shooting etc. I do have a problem with wanting to own stacks of handguns and anything that would come under the description of 'assault rifle'. Combine that with the head-in-the-sand, knee-jerk response that numbers of guns in circulation having nothing to do with gun-related deaths, despite evidence to the contrary then yes, I do think some have mental issues are a few rounds short of a full magazine.Pr4wn wrote:I don't believe that clay pigeon or target shooting is odd, it's a hobby in the same way that archery is.

it isn't like the UK Pr4wn..............Third of the households in the USA have access to a gun. More than a good chance if someone wants to do you harm he is going to bring a gun...
For what it is worth I have no doubt if the Founding Fathers had foreseen where the second amendment has taken us.. they wouldn't have put it in there in 1791......In essence....Naively geared to keeping out foreign oppressors and for stopping oppression from within.....To be hijacked by special interest groups.....
We are where we are......Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

You dont know that though do you? Its simply the absence of all the usual indicators that gets it assigned to the only one that makes sense.
I say he was a product of the American dream, its values and its laws, and became disillusioned with it all.
A multi millionaire, the right to bear arms, the right to free speech. He's in a Vegas hotel, with an arsenal of guns, having his say.
Doesnt sound like mental health to me. Sounds more like a product of its designer, the good ol' USA.
Makes more sense than 'mental health' but hey, which American is going to put that theory forward, for that would be truly mental.

Re: The Trump Presidency
I see Trump says with China as an ally they would solve all the worlds problems.
Lets see, to solve racism he would sack kneeling NFL players and say theres good people amongst white supremicists.
To solve homeland terrorism he would close the borders and build walls even though by far the mass shooters in the USA are American white men.
To solve the mass shootings and gun problem he would simply get more guns, so people can shoot back!
To solve global warming he would pretend it doesnt exist and mine the ar!se out of it instead.
To solve nuclear conflicts he would prefer to bomb first and ask questions later.
And just how does an America first viewpoint work when solving these problems?
Solve the worlds problems? Hmmm. No thanks Mr Trump. First you actually have to know what a problem is.

Re: The Trump Presidency
Trump's response to Kim's tweet calling him basically an old lunatic that could start a nuclear war should tell you all you need to know about him....
He took offence to being called "old"....
My take is...The Presidential campaign was one big vanity exercise where the public could flatter him and tell him how great he was........Must have been a shock when he ended up winning and realised he had to spend four years in what he describes as the "White dump...."
He will probably never forgive Clinton for being such a poor candidate..
Trump just wants to be loved and the USA is going to pay the price and maybe him too if he loses Alabama.....Should be a formality but Moore has big problems and Jones is basically a Republican in all but name.

The sad part is while he can swan off into the sunset when his term ends/he gets booted, the divisions he's widening while exploiting for cheap political gains among his own supporters will take generations to heal.

Re: The Trump Presidency
It’s astonishing how easily Trump controls the news cycle; something which allowed him to win the Presidency.
The NFL non-controversy was manufactured so Trump’s failings (again) with Obamacare were largely ignored.
Now the media are, again, mostly talking about a non-event, rather than his tax reforms or whatever the hell else he is doing.
If he runs again in 2020 (and he has already set that campaign up) he will win so easily. He plays the game better than anyone else in America.

Not so sure, he just won last time by the thinnest margins last time and he's only become more toxic since. Also generally better to be a fresh face than the incumbent.
My guess is he won't run (not sure he ever wanted to be president) because he knows hed lose.

Re: The Trump Presidency
I've never understood the 'Trump never wanted to be President' argument.
He's planned for at least the last three decades on getting into the White House, and he struck at the opportune moment.
He won by a comfortable majority with the electoral college (whilst spending less than half of Clinton's campaign); take Florida out and Trump would have still been successful.

In fairness knowing he can't get any of his agenda through congress...Gives him plenty of time to work on his media strategy..
Think he might be gone by 2020 if Flynn gets a deal and sets the ball rolling....But
Trump does have 44m twitter followers and it is a luxury that other Presidents haven't always had to roll back a hostile media.....it is the reason Corbyn is surviving.........
He also has the luxury of being viewed as anti-Establishment......also like the Labour Leader....
However he lost the popular vote to probably the worst Democratic candidate since James Cox lost to lughead Warren Harding in the 20s....
When you consider he has an incumbency bonus and latest polls for 20/20 are...(PPP)
Biden 53 Trump 40......(Be Biden, Warren or Booker...me thinks)
I think you give him too much credit Duty.......He sneaked Michigan and Pennsylvania in 16...He won't be facing Clinton next time.
But if the last two years have taught us anything.....It is anything can happen.

Boris never wanted Brexit but saw it as a means to an end of getting him into No.10. I wouldnt be surprised if Trump didnt want to win but just wanted to be the centre of attention for a year or so.

True about Boris, but there are far easier ways for a billionaire to get attention than by running for President.
He wanted it, he planned it, and he made it.

Whats going to garner more attention than trying to become the President of the United States?

Re: The Trump Presidency
May has got to explain why the man she held hands with is quoting from an extremist organisation whose name was being exclaimed out loud by a scumbag busy killing a Labour mp before the EU referendum.
Trump has all the markings of dementia...If Biden isn't jerking off right now at the thought of 2020 he has taken a vow of abstinence.

No doubt. But there are far easier ways of gaining attention than running for POTUS. If he was being attention-seeking then he would have pulled out during the primaries/ran as an independent.
