Re: The Trump Presidency
Its true. And if you think he was bad first term just wait until he gets a 2nd mandate. He will become absolutist and dictatorial. Dont be surprised if by 2024 he has passed legislation to run for a 3rd time or impose a bloodline on the Presidency.
Assuming we haven't all gone up in smoke before then of course

Bernie Sanders has confirmed he’s going to run again. No doubt in my mind he would have beaten Trump but its a different landscape second time around.

Bernie Sanders would have been annihilated by Trump and any half-decent Republican candidate. He has a better chance of winning the Democratic nomination this time (I mean any chance is better than zero), but if he were to secure it, it would guarantee a Republican in the White House until January 2025.

Re: The Trump Presidency
Good day for Bernie babes..
Sanders had a bigger lead over Trump than Clinton did....He also did a lot in the civil rights campaigns of the 60s so would have gotten out the black vote that stayed in for Hillary.
Also "grabbing Cat" remarks would have been more harmful for Trump had his eventual opponent not had a sex pest as a partner...

Bernie has raised $3.3m from 120,000 donors..
Win or lose its great to see a guy that has a small ceiling on contribution limit to keep out all the lobbies holding the US back..
Coming soon JP Morgan donate 'Insert number' to Kamala Harris.

Sanders was massively more popular than Clinton, who got most of her votes because of who her opponent was rather than what she stood for. Both Sanders and Trump was a vote for change, whereas Clinton represented the Status Quo. If it was a three horse race between them Clinton would have been miles behind.

Gallup....The pollster considered the gold standard gives Trump a 56% approval rating on the Economy..
Very good rating and most Presidents would expect a landslide as the Economy generally decides Elections...However this guy is the Village idiot so the normal dynamics of Election don't apply....
Said it before....Get off twitter...Keep your head down and go by the old premise absence makes the heart grow fonder...Let the Economy do the rest !!!!.
Not his way though..

Re: The Trump Presidency
Oh dear....that didn't go down too well for the Democrats (plus Republicans with skeletons in the closet) plus their handlers/facilitators in the intelligence services/tech companies/media. As Trump supporters always said - PROJECTION.
Before he gets a chance to blame them for some serious crimes both during but even more importantly before his election (and they knew such was his intention because he said so straight up during his election campaign), they decided to hit him with the allegations instead and in advance - and hoped to make them stick using all those tools (intelligence/big tech/media).
So collusion? Yes. There was collusion. The 'evidence' we've heard about now for two years non stop, saturation coverage, was fabricated. It was created (reality TV) by the very same people who pretended they were simply uncovering it. No, they were creating it to unseat a legitimately elected President of what is still the most influential Nation on the planet. And yes, it appears foreign governments and/or intelligence networks aided those who sought not only to influence the effectiveness of any future administration but to take out the present one.
When you know that you've actively created the 'evidence' you hope to use to unseat a legitmate President and you've used assistance from outside Nations to do so, then you're probably smart enough to realise that treason charges might very possibly be on the horizon for you if you fail.
The ball is in Trump's court now. Let's see. Who created the dossier? Who funded the dossiers? What foreign powers aided/COLLUDED in the creation of the dossiers? Which American intelligence operatives/politicians committed acts of treason in fabricating the accusations of collusion? What illegal acts did the sanction and/or carry out to attempt to bulk out their accusations?
Will the world's media now be as resolute and untiring in being centre stage in keeping such questions firmly in the minds of people's of the world?
Of course not...... 'em, Trump was cleared of collusion...NOW BACK TO IMPORTANT WORLD EVENTS. BACK TO BREXIT!

Rachel Maddow who has been bashing Trump for 2 years constantly over Mueller has seen her number 1 show drop to 6th place with 2.6m...
Her rival Sean Hannity on Fox has moved to number 1 with 4m..
Whatever your views on Trump....CNN...MSNBC etc are doing themselves no favours with 24/7 Trump baiting..
Supposed to be news channels...Now they are no better than Fox.

Whereas Trump is going around claiming the report was a "total exoneration" when the report specifically stated that it did not exonerate Trump at all.
He makes these claims, alongside calling other establishments fake news, with a straight face.
In all honesty, I don't think Trump is bright enough to collude with the Russians. I don't think he's capable of the subtlety needed to pull something like that off. He's a pathological liar, though. That much we already know.

Trump is spinning..Politicians spin.....Over here the Tories are blaming the Brexit debacle on Labour and vice versa..
I'm talking about news stations raking up crap 24/7 and dropping stories to fit their agenda when they should be giving the viewer news...
CNN especially is dying on its backside.....Trump has been going to jail for the last two years...
He gets away now with things he shouldn't because people are tired of it..
The US has had this silly season.. subjective approach with Fox for years and now everyone is doing it.....Even the BBC over here has gone to crap..
Think people deserve better....When Fox news is becoming the go to place for news...There is a problem..

South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg has officially launched his campaign to lead the Democrats in the 2020 elections. Seems very popular, but his major obstacle is he is openly gay. Should do well with younger voters but will really struggle in the more conservative states, especially the hardline Christian ones.

Could well be one to watch for the future, but 2020 will almost certainly be too soon for a proper run at the Presidency.
Very crowded Democratic field now...19 candidates. First 'debate' in just over two months time.

He's Christian himself though. Progressive Christians wouldn't reject him because of it. And the cross-burners wouldn't vote Democrat anyway.
I doubt he'll win the nomination, but he'd be an intriguing opponent for Trump. Mid-western, veteran, hardly a member of the coastal elite.
It's quite amusing that conservative Christians would be appalled at the idea of a gay president, but seem quite happy with a president who's about as un-Christian in his behaviour as you can get.

Re: The Trump Presidency
Trump with his misogyny and racism has done well to last this long...The fact he is still in with a shout says more about the Democrats than him and the luck of good Economic figures..
Only President I can compare him to is Millard Fillmore 'The president that hated everyone'...General Zach Taylor's VP..
There were even rumours he had old Zach knocked off..(Don't eat the strawberries)... 150 years later it was proven Zach died of natural causes..
Fillmore hated Catholics...the British.. The French...Black People.. Even his own Wife who refused to attend functions with him..
Because of the persecution of black people during his Presidency his administration is generally regarded as the starting gun to the Civil war a few years later..
His own Party stopped him getting another term..
Fillmore is generally regarded as a stain on the Oval office..Very few regarded as worse..
Maybe the same fate awaits Trump.

Re: The Trump Presidency
I was thinking that about Trump the other day - he's so angry. And not just slightly miffed at things, but furious. Every day, furious and frothing about something (or the same things, over and over). It's not healthy. Alternatively it's a result of poor / ill health.
Even when something goes his way, it seems he can't be happy, content about it, he has to gloat, rail, demand the punishment of those who argued against him.
(Remember his press conference after the mid-terms? Singling out Republicans who had distanced themselves from him, taking pleasure that they had lost their seats.)
Is he entitled to feel angry about certain things? Perhaps. But he allows these things to consume him. The slightest criticism, however valid and soberly delivered, sends him into a rage.

Re: The Trump Presidency
Reminds me of the old Monty Python joke about the Romans..... so the FBI, CIA, MI6 and other assorted linked-in intelligence agencies conspired to get him out of office - even before he got in!, so the controlled mainstream American media have attacked him right left and centre for over two years (whilst pretending the laughable veneer of journalistic Neutral integrity), so all his achievements get sneered at and get downplayed, so social media big companies continually censor Trump Republicans (coz they is dangerous hate preachers) but allow in countless vicious personal attacks on Trump and his family and hooded threats by the elite 'entertainers' of the world (coz it's just harmless non-politically biased fun) - so all his popularity ratings get stamped as votes from whacko red necked white male racist, sexist, homophobic, middle American trailer trash...... but why is he always so angry?????????
The Mad mad MAD MAD World of biased Neutral political commentary continues.
Meanwhile, in other news, I hear that French authorities have ruled out arson....before they do the investigations on the Norte Dame fire. I guess in the next few days it'll be a hate crime to even ask the question: "Was it an arson attack?"
Personally speaking, I think the world is already at war.... a new version, perhaps more brutal but even less immediately visible than the legendary Cold War of yesteryear. Being at war should I suppose be a tense and possibly angering experience. And of course we have ample evidence even pre-Trump of a world extremely angry with itself. We have Brexit in Europe. Many observers and commentators showing cool, 'reasoned' heads on that? Nope. You just have to wander over to the Brexit thread to get a sniff of the anger and hatred induced by that episode in the current World War.
You're either on one side of the fence - and angry - or on the other side of the fence - and angry. Anyone who says they've found a happy place in some perfect middle are liars. The principles and ideologies and philosophies are too distinctly opposite, and thus we're heavily into an ideological war. It's already brutal and bitter and I think anger is a natural emotion in such a theatre.

What the hell is wrong with you?

Pointing out his many flaws isnt an attack. If the guy says or does something stupid or offensive its not bias to present it as such. Also, which achievements? To my mind he hasnt actually passed any legislation making any palpable change in America and is still coasting off the work Obama started.

Re: The Trump Presidency
I think we should all start celebrating Trump 2020. It is now inevitable after Mueller missed the target. And as Bannon says, that guy will be in the mood to get even with everyone for 4 years so I'd advise people to buy some extra beans and Jaffa cakes and maybe dig a hole in their back yards.

A state visit in June, then.
I note that the BBC says he'll hold talks with the prime minister, not that he'll hold talks with prime minister Theresa May.
