A kiwi MP was ejected from Parliament the other day for showing up wearing a Highlanders jersey in protest at their new lime green strip - for not meeting the dress code!

So many things that can't and shouldn't really be gotten into on a forum dedicated to rugby (not politics).

Do you want a list? Suffice to say he is a politician....I would say that's enough.

Well then what makes him worse than other politicians? I like the guy myself. He's moderate, modern and pragmatic. Better than the slop served up by Labour for the last 10 odd years.

I wouldnt trust any of them, although Cameron did say that his favourite ale was Doom Bar, which give him a few brownie points in my book!
Anyone remember when Gordon Brown was introduced as the Prime Minster of England at the last world cup?
Suffice to say that the response from the English section of the crowd was a less than positive. In a similar vein, I think the only times John Major came to HQ, England lost, which meant after a few appearances his presence wasn't greeted warmly!

No that wasn't anything to do with John Major. That was just England being rubbish as per.
Gordon Brown loved the sport. He even gave an eye to rugby. Apparently Tony Blair used to be a solid tackler though. Can't remember where I read that.

Aye Gordon Brown used to play for Kirkcaldy High School and he lost an eye in a game.
Kirkcaldy High School are the town Rivals of my old School Balwearie. I had the honour of Captaining Balwearie to victory 3 times out of 3 against Kirkcaldy High that was nearly 10 years ago now though...... where has the time gone?!

Did he?
I remember he said he liked to drink cans of Guinness and watch darts then got roundly mocked for it. I guess he spent some good money on paying a researcher to find out what beer he should pretend he likes then.

Yes, he did, to an audience of Cornish folk, then later he told the Devonians that O'Hanlon's Yellowhammer was his favourite tipple, and the next day he told a group of Somerset farmers that he really liked Wells Bomardier. Only a week after, he was seen supping a pint of Badger's Golden Glory
Fickle, nah, he's not fickle

Re: David Cameron on rugby
Nick Clegg is propping up the ConDem coalition!
Any backbenchers would be in the second rows!
Peter Mandelson has pulled a few flankers in his time! Oo er!!!
John Bercow (the speaker dummy) is an annoying little sheet! Ideal scrum half!
David Cameron, a natural for number 10!!!
Dennis Skinner and Tony Benn will have to fight it out to be the left winger!!
A couple of famous Lib Dems (can't think of any!!!) in the centre!!! Maybe not, better put them on the right wing now!!!
Etc. Etc. Etc.

Re: David Cameron on rugby
We should follow Belgium’s example in not electing a government - they seen to be getting on ok.
I distrust politicians on principle, and the expenses scandal and their eagerness in giving themselves pay rises and very good pensions only underlines that distrust, but David Cameron has me reaching for my virtual shotgun and virtually blowing the mother away - he's just seems to ooze insincerity.

Re: David Cameron on rugby
Belgium did elect a parliment, the parties just didnt form a government. Big difference. Besides, when the Libs 7 Cons took a whole 3 days to form the coalition there was outcry at the 'uncertainty' of it all.
Back to matters rugby, that political teamsheet was a bit of fun. Would you take a risk and through Prescott into the fray? I reckon he'd make a good prop but could be a yellow card liabilty for retaliation when being wound up.

Yes, but I envisage a problem where he refuses to come in off his wing and thus misses opportunites to score...

Re: David Cameron on rugby
Hey,
I'd just take that video clip as being a bit funny, and leave it at that. Its funny.
And, you have to give credit, Cameron does know how to get off a one-liner now and then.
Now, that was a favourable statement. However, in the interest of fairness and balance, I understand the need to balance a positive statement with a negative statement:
The appearance of Cameron in those tight bicycle shorts on tv in enough to make me reach for my medical barf bag.
See? Political balance achieved with no problem.

So you mention Irish politics and it is immediately deleted.
You mention British politics and it is allowed to run - inconstancy I think moderators.
what is good for one should be good for the other

Geoff, I removed the Irish Politics stuff because it was off-topic - nowt to do with the haka, which was generating enough "heat" as it was. Though some individuals may have been getting over-sensitive in their reaction.
I'll confess to being bored to tears by this debate too, but then again I don't particulary care which bunch of incompetents* are copping flack for trying to clean up the UK's finances before the bailiffs arrive.
*I consider that an appropriate synonym for "politician" until proven otherwise
