Congratulations Murray, US Open champion
Jamie Murray's won the mixed doubles title with Martina Hingis, coming through a tight match 6-1 4-6 10-8 against Michael Venus and Hao-Ching Chan. They're having a great year having also won Wimbledon this year. For Jamie the match is also consolation for having lost heavily in mens' doubles quarter-finals with Soares to Tecau and Rojer.
Hingis has now won an impressive 12 womens doubles slam titles and 7 mixed doubles slam titles. I do like the way she's gone on to forge a stellar doubles career after coming back to the game few years ago.

Congrats to both, you don't get much doubles on TV these days, but I do like them both.

Jamie says the secret is to play on the opposition woman. However, Hingis says he's too nice and doesn't wallop it at them. Some doubt whether they will team again. Seems to be some suggestion - although nothing official - that Hingis might be calling it a day.

It's a great result - and Hingis is showing what we always knew, she's one helluva classy tennis player. I'm a fan of her tennis and think she adds a bit of spice to life, but her track record suggests that she's a less classy human being off the court, so if they both quit whilst they are ahead so be it.
I'm sure Mrs. Murray has justifiable confidence in her man, and maybe she travels with him anyway, but if she doesn't and I were a wife in that situation (which would require an unlikely transition), Hingis is not someone I'd want hanging around my husband thousands of miles away at a tennis tournament more frequently than absolutely necessary.

Talking of older women players, Kimiko Date, now 46, played as a WC in this week's Tokyo tournament. But she got just 13 points as she lost love and love to Krunic.
Remember seeing the Japanese pay at Wimbledon more than 20 years ago. A very fine player. Even when she returned to the circuit after many years way she did OK.
Update: Just seen that this was Date's final match. She's had injuries and announced that this would be it for her.
