The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub thread had a very slow demise. We were churning through threads in 1-2 weeks... then it just went dead after some people left.

I met a few of them when they came over here for the 2013 Lions tour.

Lydneyian stayed here for a few days (now remarried and living in Melbourne)
I spoke to The Hound of Harrow (who was very sick in his hotel room... missed the match... and has since died) So sad.

I'll assume red is for general waste (as you put that first), green for some recycling e.g. plastic and yellow is for other recycling e.g. paper.
Obviously they don't all go out together, so I'll assume the red is weekly and the recycling alternate weeks.
Most likely you wouldn't put red followed by green as you'd want to split up the 2 that went out.

I was hoping it would be yellow (plastic containers, glass & cardboard) but it was in fact green (garden waste) this week. Only had some minor garden off cuts in there with some fruit that keeps falling from my neighbours tree... onto my pebbles.

My Mum has a different system - blue for glass & plastic, yellow for paper only, then the same green and red... but her green one is huge because there are more (and larger) trees up north compared to here.

Would you believe they have rubbish bin inspectors here. I caught one guy in a special uniform with badge peering into my bins one morning.
I felt like doing the Basil Fawlty thing: "Can I help you? Would you like a sandwich or something... are you hungry?"

He reckoned I had mixed "soft plastic" with "hard plastic". A big no no apparently. He had just peeled off a (plastic) sticker which had "Good Recycling Citizen" and stuck some on my neighbour's bins.... but I didn't get one! I felt like a proper rubbish criminal.

I've heard tales of that here. Recycling not taken because they looked inside and saw something that would 'contaminate' it.

Yes, I had about 20 empty soft bags of organic mulch squashed in there.

I'm surprised we haven't had water inspectors on the rounds. So dry here. Only 38mm since June; not a drop in September. I've forgotten what rain looks like. Back about 20 years ago we had severe water restrictions. If you were caught (or reported) decent fines applied.

Our dams are down from 91% to 86%. I thought we'd lose lots more from evaporation and me hosing the lawns. 2 billion litres used 2 weekends ago!
