Team A - Marky, Olly, Fluxy, Hero, Tino

Task 1
In your teams of 4 i would like you to come up with a plan to get Everton to compete in the top 4 obviously with their takeover it gives you a high budget which will be set at £250m, You may also sell players via their TM Price but anyone bought for this season will not be eligible to be sold (Including Fat Sam). Incoming players must be realistic.

Money may be put towards other things such as youth facilities & staff etc

Don't mind on the captain role on whoever wants it.

Questions I'd want clarifying though are...

Wages? Is that not a factor?
In what timeframe is competing in the top 4? This season, next season, within 5 years, within 10?

If we're using TM and using the fantasy league example then wages wouldn't come into it I feel.

So players available on a free in the summer are game despite their wage bill.

I think we need to compile a list of questions to take back to Nando before we begin

That's all that's coming to mind at present for me.

One thing to remember, even though we can only make realistic transfers anyway, is that we'd also need to sign players that would fit into Big Sam's style of play, no point trying to sign a handful of Serie A/Bundesliga/La Liga wonderkids as for this task the manager is irreplaceable.

While I'm this far in, I may as well declare myself in for the captain's position this round

2. What is the timeframe to achieve the target? 18 months as Mr Moshiri would like to see a return on his money put into the club
3. Will we be able to sign free agents in the summer or will we have to go by TM Values? - Free agents will be £0 but remember all signings must be realistic so Ozil or Alexis would be a no-no

If Theo signs before the end of the task he will be added to your squad at no extra cost.

States in the OP players bought this season cannot be sold but if timeframe is 18 months then surely at the end of this season we can move them on?

Sorry guys, only just seen this starting!

Agree with Olly, a good spine would be the top priority. Although do we want to look at some money going toward the academy? Everton bring through some decent players, but for a long-term/sustainable approach perhaps some budget pushed that way?

As self appointed captain, I'd like Olly and Tino to begin scouting, looking for real life players who would improve Everton while being affordable, consider players out of contract in the summer, or out of favour at their current club, and who would fit the Big Sam way.

I'd like Hero and Fluxy to focus on the existing wage bill, presuming the wage bill total over the next 18 months would come off the £250m budget, look for ways to cut the wage bill down without losing too many players, and also look into how much money we'd raise from Transfermarkt selling players we currently have but won't need.

Any objections let me know, and any ideas please share them. I'll try and help across both.

We've got a whole week to do this. Make the most of the ability to PM each other if some ideas don't need to be open to the other team seeing them.

Nope, This is solely for improving Everton as a whole but any new players will remove money from the £250m budget to add to the wage bill

Spell it out to me please. Is our budget £250m minus wages (and if so over 12 or 18 months?) or is it £250m plus wages?

On the plus side Everton have announced Theo, so he's already in.

So should we presume a formation in which Sam wants to use, or base it on what he is currently using?

I'd say he's probably using the formation he wants to use. Loosely I'd say it's either a 4-3-3/4-5-1 or a 4-2-3-1.

In regards to the scouting and purchasing of players, if it's solely based on TM values then I'd recommend purchasing Ligue 1 players ASAP before their value increases.

Everton linked with Juan Bernat today. That's a no brainer in our squad going forward I feel.

That's a good call, scour actual transfer rumour sites over the past few months for player linked to Everton or similar level players for realistic signings.

That's around £74m a year, so luckily we aren't taking that into account when it comes to our £250m budget!

Removing Barkley and Mirallas takes the total wage for the year to £68.25m

Selling on the undesirables: Stekelenberg, Williams, Jags, Baines, Lennon, Mirallas would generate £22.5m and remove just under £13m from the wage budget.

Personally, I'd add Niasse (with Walcott and Tosun already in) to the transfer list, £55k a week we don't need to spend.

While I don't think Nando has said we can't bring in loan players, I think it may help us to only go with permanent signings as we are talking about the longevity of this project, loan players (unless they're one of the world's elite) would go against us IMO.

Olly, search for every position you feel we need, and Tino can do the same separately, to see what different options you come up with.

I'd agree with Niasse, and perhaps look at someone else like Fuenes Mori as well? 

We are missing Cuco Martina, Vlasic, Garbutt and Kenny off the list, is there a reason for that?

Hero provided the list so I'm not sure. I think those four would probably stay in the squad anyway, so its not anything we need to worry about until we list the full squad.

A major overhaul wouldn't be ideal, so maybe it would be a case of seeing which of our transfer targets can be signed in January and which would be signed in the summer.
