Team A - Marky, Olly, Fluxy, Hero, Tino
First topic message reminder :
Task 1
In your teams of 4 i would like you to come up with a plan to get Everton to compete in the top 4 obviously with their takeover it gives you a high budget which will be set at £250m, You may also sell players via their TM Price but anyone bought for this season will not be eligible to be sold (Including Fat Sam). Incoming players must be realistic.
Money may be put towards other things such as youth facilities & staff etc

Ultimately it's worth keeping cover, not all 25 players have to be very good. Some just have to fill in from time to time, and he covers both fullback roles. It's worth checking his wages if we can, and if others think he should go too then I'm happy to go with the majority, but personally I'd keep him in (as long as he's not on silly money)

Lennon has just been confirmed as leaving for Burnley for an undisclosed fee, how will this affect us?

I'd presume, if we're counting Walcott as coming in without affecting our budget, that we can't sell Lennon ourselves to add to our budget. Which isn't a massive blow considering the likely wage and transfer value differences between the two.

Sign a new CB, a LB, and a CM in January.
Then any more changes can be made in the summer, too much upheaval could go against us. It's not Football Manager after all.

I like David Neres of Ajax for 13.5m, as a wildcard/x factor type signing - one i think would we need

Juan Bernat linked in the papers and only £10.8m, I feel he's an obvious replacement for Baines.
Regarding Neres, I think he would go onto the list for the summer signings if at all, would he start ahead of Bolasie or Walcott straight away?

Re: Team A - Marky, Olly, Fluxy, Hero, Tino
I agree that I'd rather have Neres in my fantasy side, but realistically, Walcott is proven in the PL, he's already on the books at £110k (and can't be sold), and because of that I feel we should spend money on key areas (like CB, LB and CM) before we sign a player to bench Walcott. Same with upfront. Everton have just signed Cenk Tosun, so we couldn't really sign a new striker until the summer months.
Also it's not Big Olly's team, or Big Marky's team. It's Big Sam's team.

Plan would be (unless anyone objects) to go with the squad I suggested, sign players alongside Walcott and Tosun at LB, CB and CM in January, then sign new players in attack in the summer.
What are the PL rules on squads? 25 man squad, but you're allowed a certain number of extras under a certain age aren't you?

Bernat is only on €65k a week at Bayern so even at £100k per week (times 52 weeks, £5.2m a year) and a £10.8m fee, it's only a £16m outlay of the £250m.
Any thoughts on CB signings and CM signings?

Re: Team A - Marky, Olly, Fluxy, Hero, Tino
I thought about Kamil Glik of Monaco, Polish international, £16.2m on TM, 29 years old, Monaco out of Europe (so no reason why he wouldn't realistically join Everton for the right price), I feel he'd bring enough experience in as well seeing as we're losing Williams and Jagielka, history usually shows that inexperienced defences struggle.

Need to make bolder steps forward today really.
Need more suggestions for signings, you can all chip in. Only thing I'm invoking is that if they're not a CM/CB/LB they'd have to be a summer signing, not a January signing.

No worries. Also if anyone can suggest what we can do about youth and staffing that'd be great. Even if there's a world class coach available.

Changed my mind on this happening in January, seeing as by selling Aaron Lennon there's a squad space at RW. Unless anyone can think of an alternative?

Also wondering if Hirving Lozano counts as a realistic transfer target to come in at LW, usually players in the Eredivisie are fair game.

Bracketed players are suggested targets but open to being trumped. They would need to be realistic, so take into account whether the player is currently playing Champions League football, whether or not they are unsettled, and basically if they would realistically join Everton.
I'd say our aim for the rest of this season would be to aim for 7th place, we're out of the cups anyway, and unless Bristol City win the League Cup it'll give us a Europa League spot.

Re: Team A - Marky, Olly, Fluxy, Hero, Tino
Trying to gauge rating of players for us, against what I would think, so bear with me!
I am a big fan of Harry Maguire, and could be a decent partnership between himself and Keane? In my mind suits Big Sam, but also offers more to the team. Although doubt he would move mid-season.
Not attempting to keep it English, but Mawson might fancy a move, but not sure how you'd rate him?
CM - Cyprien, Vilhena, or Sturaro (not flashy, but linked with moves away)

Sturaro I like, not sure the other two would realistically do better in the Premier League than Schneiderlin/Gueye, and we want to improve what we already have.
Maguire is a shout, but only just moved to Leicester who are arguably at the same level.

Often laughed about it before but he's been linked a few times and is available on a freebie soon...Mata.

Mata isn't a bad shout, but with Rooney already on the books, the immobile attacking midfielder slot is already taken really?

For reserve GK and full backs shall we look at promising youngsters could take on a loan?

I agree, although if we could sell Rooney I'd say get Mata in.

From where? They'd have to be from Real/Barca/Bayern to make it worthwhile. Already got Garbutt and Kenny covering LB and RB from within the academy. 3rd choice keeper I'd say could be from the academy too and then stick the remainder of the budget into the youth Academy for future stars.

I'm happy to go with Alfie Mawson as a realistic January signing who's also an improvement.

If we’re looking for backup RB/LB we need better than freaking Luke grabutt
There must be a decent LB at a big club who could do a loan - Baba Rahman? Maybe Luke shaw

I wouldn't class them as promising youngsters
But yeah, although I'd rather we did permanent deals over loans for reasons mentioned previously.

I didn't describe it well! But i think you can make a splash on key positions, if you can scrape a loan or two for backup roles - and usually you can get a better backup on loan than on a permenant

I just feel that loans would be using short term vision, and also in a World Cup year these players would only leave on loan to be first choice.

Also if any of you want to come up with some realistic transfer fees for these players it would be very helpful.

Guys, I've been writing it up in bits as I went along, but I need serious suggestions, ideally tonight or early tomorrow, to fill the blanks in here for our summer signings. Give me plenty of options please so I don't have to worry too much about it when finishing the presentation.

New big name CB
New RB

Re: Team A - Marky, Olly, Fluxy, Hero, Tino
New reserve GK - Matthew Ryan - presuming that Brighton go down (probably won't), or that he wants a move to a bigger club.
New big name CB - Maguire, Laporte if even bigger?
New RB - Vrsaljko could be a shout, seeing as Juanfran is preferred at RB for Atletico.
New reserve LB - Jordan Lukaku?
New LW - (Lozano)
New big name CF - Bakaumbu? Trying to think of an all-rounder - like Anelka at Bolton.

It might be stealing it from somewhere, and could be worth a quick re-hash, but something noting that we want to help strengthen the academy and improve the frequency of quality players coming through might help on this task?
Seeing as the likes of Davies, Rooney, Calvert-Lewin, Jeffers, Richard Dunne, Osman, Rodwell and Unsworth. Most of the latter not amazing players, but are currently coaches in the Youth set up and there is something there in keeping the Everton mentality, but might need a coach from the outside to get another player or two up to scracth for the 1st XI

Think Bakambu taking Chinese millions prices him out of a move, but I like the other 5. Will put them in.

Definitely mate. Whatever our budget is after these signings will go into the Youth Academy, to improve coaching and facilities.
