I know we didn't last year, but it was one of our worst 6 Nations in a long while.

Of course not, but then you can't refer to our match last year by that reasoning ?
Look, Im trying to save you from yourselves, every year you get all excited and wax lyrical about your world class players then it all goes a bit poopy
I always support Scotland against anyone but Wales in the 6 Nations and nearly always end up disappointed.

You're generalising all Scottish people as having the same opinion (a common problem on these boards!) - those that know me on here know that every 6N I urge caution about Scotland's chances A) because it is a brutally hard tournament and B) we've had a lot of false dawns/years of misery!
I'm certainly not expecting us to ruin riot and win the tournament at a canter and I'm realistic enough to know that there is a chance we could be going into the last game trying to avoid the wooden spoon with Italy. However, the team has been building over a few years now and we are in a good place to do well - and I would class 3 wins as doing well. We have a good chance to beat Wales but that doesn't mean that we should expect it by any means.

I think it's just that a few Scots boys here haven't been informed about the newest 'offence' rules - that admittedly change daily on the whim of the High Priest Twitter Sect. Anyway, it is now an offence to declare that you got 'a chance' in polite circles.

I find it strange fans aren't more concerned about missing two whole front rows !
Thats relying an awful lot on the ball being constantly in play.

It's worse than that - there's 10 front row missing for Scotland!
Our starting front row should hopefully be able to hold their own as they are experienced front row. The longer they can hold on the better - our reserve front row is a big step down. The loosehead Jamie Bhattie is great in the loose but his scrummagine has been exposed a lot playing for Glasgow.

Excellent, our line out was a great platform in the AI's with McInally's strike rate at better than 92%. Gray runs the line well and with Toolis as another option and Barclay as a great tail option our line out and maul are in great shape.

Both hookers are good in the lineout. McInally has been on the form of his life this season and was superb in the autumn.
The problem is Scott Lawson - he's 36 and hasn't played for Scotland in 4 years. He has been playing well for Newcastle by all accounts but it's really not ideal that we are relying on him in the 6N.

Whew - the 6 Nations eh? Calm down everyone.
This is a real Toonie selection. I don't remember a situation before where a player was starting for Scotland and I had literally never seen them play club rugby. Having just seen the end of a horrendous era where Graeme Morrison and Nick De Luca were the apex of the jock midfield alchemy, I am delighted to see yet another centre deemed test class. Well done Chris Harris. Will be very keen to see how he gets on and I presume that he will get at least the first half.

Don't worry George, you won't be disappointed. I remember when young Chris was called up in November, my immediate reaction was "Chris Harris is Scottish? Really?! Freaking awesome!!" He's very good at playing within the Falcons' system, where the aim is to get the ball wide as often as possible, so he should thrive for Scotland.

If this was at Murrayfield I'd be backing Scotland.
I backed Scotland to win last year when many didn't think they'd win, backing Wales this year when many think they are the underdogs.
Home advantage helps most teams.
Last year in the 6 nations the only team who won a match away which wasn't vs Italy was England - this decided the competition and only just.
ruggerradge home advantage was a big factor last season if you discount Italy.
It's been forgotten that France beat both Scotland and Wales at Stade de France. I wouldn't underestimate any team bar perhaps Italy at home.
^This
I don't think it very likely Scotland will pull off a shock (it rightly would be a shock) as Wales tend to be better on home advantage and step up 6Ns time.
On the flipside if Scotland win, then we'll be competing for a title and my tenner on 16/1 odds 6 months ago will be justified.
We've said this many times but Scotland's away record is atrocious in the 6Ns. If we win this then the new dawn that has been happening for the last 3/4 seasons may actually come to fruition but it is another big step up for these guys. Not saying it's impossible but I'd say the scales are very much tipped in Wales' favour, especially with a relatively inexperienced centre pairing.

If we're going on what tends to happen: Wales tend to start the tournament slowly, and Scotland tend to lose away from home. So it's going to be a draw, isn't it?

Pretty sure I said from the outset that I’d been reading the forum for a long time. So not totally new. But yes I guess that was a little deceitful.
Anyway, my post above probably doesn’t make sense because TJ’s post (that I was replying to) was deleted.

My post was deleted? But the trolls still are allowed to ruin the forum? great stuff miods
For what it is worth IMO this forum is being ruined by a small number of bitter trolls all welsh who have driven many posters away. without action from the mods and it may wellnow be too late this place will die. Already we get no postings hardly on the AP and none at all from outside of the UK
Its a shame, the mods were warned this was happening and now its coming to pass.

'Reading the forum for a long time' isn't the same as being a member with a name/title. If you 'left' something, it suggests you were a member.
Were you a member? Don't worry about answering that if you don't feel inclined to. There is lots of shyness in 606 lately.

I'm in the same boat, having never seen Harris play (I had in fact forgotten about him being an option). Still, I wasn't confident about Peter Horne starting at 12 (the mere thought of Scott Gibbs and Jamie Roberts running at him could knock him over, let alone Hadleigh Parkes) so I'm pleased we have another option.
I'm pretty nervous about this one. It's the hope that kills you. Shingler and Navidi have been horribly good recently, and Gareth Davies will relish a fast and open game. Gatland seems to have picked a bit more on form - where's Tom James and Alex Cuthbert when you need them??
Still, Toonie seems to have made some tough calls along sensible lines. Wilson was never going to be ready to start, and the thought of Dentons hands ruining out fast and loose game plan was a concern. Du Preez may well be a lazy player, but his handling skills are top class. I'm also pleased with Toolis over Gilchrist. Jim Hamilton was saying we need Gilchrist in there for his "farmer strength" in the tight, but Toolis is an extremely consistent performer and it would have been really tough on him to lose out to a player who has yet to match his club form.
I think it'll be a great game, but I actually think Wales will edge it. I'd feel differently if we were at home (or if we had a fit Nel and Dickinson). Cardiff is not a happy hunting ground for us.

That's okay by me Long breaks are what make this place bearable now. But I don't blame 606, I just blame time. People move on, even in the cyberworld.

All welsh? You see, the reason I left was in part due to some non-welsh wums from England, NZ and a particular one from Ireland, plus some really agressive Scottish posting that was not dealt with my Scottish mods. Seems opinions on where the wums come from can differ.

I only made the post so the mods could see but they won't take any proper action so the forum will die.

Pretty sure if Welsh fans said “we’re going to comprehensively beat Scotland”, or words to that effect, then Scottish fans would be responding with the ‘you said what’ lines, and rightly so. Can’t see how any of that is WUMing though? If it is then there’s been a bit from both sides.

Hmmm..................... anyway.........................
Wales and Scotland? Which side is going to comprehensively beat the other side? Place your bets folks and do your discussing.

How much do I wish Scott Gibbs was playing for us!
It was announced today that Tom James is being treated for depression, which is sad but great that he’s come forward with it. Very difficult still for men to do these days with a lot of stigma attached. Read it on bbc. Hasn’t played since December I think it said.
Cuthbert has actually been in much better club form recently. Almost to the point where I wouldn’t have minded too much if he’d been picked (I think!). But the other two starters have been in better form even if inexperienced, which is unlike Gatland.

Got scotland to win the six nations with Stuart Hogg as top try scorer at 125/1. Like printing money.

There is some nasty WUMMing but there are plenty of over sensitive souls too. I have said this before but if you go to another forum/ form of media there is no reason why the trolls would not go there too.

When you say ‘nasty’ what do you mean exactly? Like, threats to people or their families? Homophobia? Racism? All I’ve seen since I’ve been back is some posters saying your team is going to get soundly beaten and other posters saying things along the lines of ‘you’re dreaming’ or ‘you’re deluded’? Is that really nasty? Try forums like Munsterfans if you want to see nasty! Not for the faint hearted.

The funny thing about Forums is that some people get the impression they are in their 'Local'. They are just down their local street, in their cosy local pub, talking to people they might have gone to school with or worked with. Pardon my directness, but that is a silly concept of what this net space is- thus why everyone gets so mad and can't take it no more when people disagree with them, even mildly!!
The truth is we're all talking to people we'd never dream of talking with in that local real-time setting if they entered the pub as strangers.
We might talk with them if they looked the kind of people we'd talk to; but it's a big world and when we talk online we're talking to all kinds of people from all the roughest ghettos to the biggest mansions, we're talking to people from the darkest dingiest streets or tree lined avenues. We're talking to bankers and waiters and cheats and scum, to philanthropists and psychopaths, to warm, gentle and good people and to clouded and vicious people, we're talking to alcoholics and teetotallers, we're talking to happy people and morbidly depressed people, we're talking to bible thumpers and atheists, we're talking to ugly people and beautiful people.........
..........we're talking to the world, and yet we have this strange, strange notion that they should all somehow think, look and act just like us - and we get deeply offended when they don't.
Forums are false communities. Don't take them so seriously, people.
Now who the F**K! said we were the most arrogant People in Northern Europe???!!!

Agreed about the mods. There were some good ones on here but you had one like Bedford Welsh for example who would encourage bullying on here never mind try and stop it. Especially when it came to the Newport Mafia Mob. Don't leave though or they have wonTJ wrote:I only made the post so the mods could see but they won't take any proper action so the forum will die.

Back to Wales v Scotland. Wales will win. Is that a fact? Yes...and it could prove to be a very painful one for Scotland

I predict a Scottish win, but where the ambiguity lies is in the history of the two teams.
As others have pointed out we don't typically do well at Cardiff. Equally Wales have been pretty bobbins for the last year. I just feel that Wales have lost too many key players for this one. Losing JD, Biggar, Webb, Williams, Faletau and Warburton has to have an affect, that's the spine of the team gone.
Scotland's front row has been decimated, but the whole axis of that Welsh team is banjoed.

It seems a bit rich that TJ (who does his fair share of trolling) is now leaving. In the same way that eirebilly (who had various pops at NZ fans and then left when they, understandably, bit back) said he was never coming back. I would imagine TJ will return in the same way. It’s only a forum folks! Hypocrisy rules

Yeah that comment about 'the welsh' was a bit typical of his outbursts, just another example of the welsh-bashing on here, and then you get bashed for pointing it out! And the less said about the muppet who never steps foot outside of Ponty the better .
