Usyk-Briedis spoilers
Ukrainian technician Usyk outpointed hometown hero Briedis in a thrilling fight. Two elite 200lbs fighters left it all in the ring. Usyk got a close decision 114-114, 115-113 and 115-113. Usyk rightfully won, unified the WBO/WBO titles and advanced into the WBSS final.
After seeing briedis pushing Usyk to the limit, it's no wonder Bellew's ducked the Latvian.

The cruiserweight WBSS competition is fantastic. The final 4 were all unbeaten beasts and I think all champions. Sounds like the fight was superb and a real test of the much-heralded Usyk.
The one I am REALLY looking forward to is next weekend - the utter humdinger between Dorticos and Gassiev. Both KO artists, beltholders and also unbeaten. Should be one for the ages!

A fantastic fight. No holding and they fought the entire fight. Their stamina was unbelievable for the weight.
The next semi can be just as good!
I think Usyk will move to Heavyweight once the tournament is over. If he unified the division he’ll be heralded with Holyfield as an ATG at the weight.
At Heavyweight Usyk will be undersized and lacking power at the weight BUT skill-wise will be levels above all the top HW’s and could potentially box rings round them.

This tournament(both super middle and cruiser) is like the opposite of the super six in that so far it couldn’t have gone much better obviously the knockout system way more logical well done to Kalle and the team there’s nobody who’s not in the tournament who should’ve been there at cruiser ok maybe Ramirez and DeGale at super middle. Hope he can get a few more going maybe at the lower weights and the Eubank-Groves and Usyk-Gassiev are what you’d call mouthwatering
Looking forward to next week fight wiell know a lot more about both of them as still haven’t seen either of them fight live. Looking forward to see if Gassiev is as good as some people say

Have to say Briedis really changed my opinion of him, thought he was vastly over rated and had been hyped up more than he deserved but despite losing on Saturday night he showed he is the real deal.
If Usyk wins and moves up to heavyweight as expected would really like to see Breidis in against whoever wins the other semi final in the not too distant future to decide who will take his spot at the top of the cruiserweight tree.

Cracking fight between Dorticos & Gassiev. Gassiev by knockout in the 12th.
Contrast that, to the non-spectacle of Okolie v Chamberlain. Total mis-match in favour of Okolie.

Superb fight. Dorticos' chin was pretty solid until that knockdown!
SO glad it was on terrestrial tv. Probably a way better fight than most ppv "events.

Re: Usyk-Briedis spoilers
Unbelievable fight between Gassiev and Dorticos. Two KO sluggers going at it for the best part of 12 rounds. I had Gassiev ahead going into the 12th, but his power in that 12th round was scary.
I don't think Usyk will stand and trade, as his technical ability is more than Gassiev. But I envisage a wide Usyk points win or Gassiev by KO.

Be very interesting to see the betting on Usyk/Gassiev, Gassiev looks a beast
Is the Usyk chin crackable?

Re: Usyk-Briedis spoilers
Gassiev is only 24 years old. He kept catching Dorticos with left uppercuts, but Dorticos kept coming forwards seemingly unhurt. But it eventually caught up with him in the twelfth. Both looked tired towards the end. Gassiev turned pro aged 17 and has had 27 professional fights. Oleksandr Usyk is 31 has only had 14 professional fights, turning pro aged 26. However he had a decorated amateur career (Olympic, world & European champion).
