Please add your score predictions for this weekend's three games onto the end of this thread.
The rules are as follows:-
- Spoiler:
- 1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games. All predictions must be made before the start of the games.
2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome.
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded with double points. So if the correctly predict a match's score you will receive a maximum 80 points.
Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 Wales
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 Wales
Your score 32 points
You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting Wales to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting Wales' score spot on.
The next round of fixtures are:-
Saturday 17th March
Italy v Scotland
England v Ireland
Wales v France

Re: Six Nations Competition - Week 5
France 38 - 18 Italy (France just too strong and run tries in for fun in last 20 mins when Italy tire)
Ireland 19 - 27 Wales (Tough game, but Welsh bench strong when Irish legs tire. North and Tibs play to win back their starting shirts when they come off the bench.)
Scotland 24 - 22 England (Scotland will throw kitchen sink at England to win some silverware. Not going to be a pretty game with a pen to take it in final mins)
This dents Ireland and England in one weekend. With Italy and then finally France at home, will put Wales firmly in the driving seat for the title.

I am not saying that Wales are not good enough to win the title.
But i do not see them winning the title this year.
Why ?
What I said was if my predictions come good (which they seldom do), then Ireland will have lost a game, yet still have England to play, which wont be a big score either way. They will still have Scotland to play, which wont be a walk in the park either. Also, if Scotland win England also lose a game, having yet to play Ireland.
So, Wales will be left with Italy at home, a game they should win and also stack up a bonus point plus points difference. Leaving them with France at home in the very last game of the tournament, knowing the result of the England/Ireland game, knowing exactly what they have to do to take the title. Hence in the driving seat.
Now, its all whats and ifs, of course it is. But that's the same for every side. So why is my comments so far fetched, in your opinion, that it needed a comment. Or is it just those dark red rosed glasses that restrict your sight.

Well....I've got some making up to do and can only put wales up on top with the following unlikely results..
Ireland 18 - 29 Wales
Scotland 18 - 10 England
Just for kicks I reckon France 34 - 17 Italy

Saturday 10th March
Ireland 20 - 22 Scotland
France 23 - 20 England
Sunday 11th March
Wales 38 - 9 Italy
Fingers crossed
Going for scores I suggested on other post (re BPs) which would see a team winning less games than others lifting the title.
If this happened, wonder how many who said they'd have no problem with this will stick with what they said..

Stranger things have happened in the competition that keeps on giving, No.9. But if that transpires that a team wins the title even though they've won less games than another side in the competition, then for sure the points system will either be revised or dropped next season.
So it'll be a shallow victory as everyone will remember the blip year when the best team in the contest didn't win because of a quirk in the rules.

Fly, it's unethical for me to go against my own team, hence the prediction. I also firmly believe Ireland will get a TBP, which means we need to score more hence the very unusual prediction, but if this is where we part ways, fine. We'll always have the time we spent together
Lemme know what it feels like when your ranking drops like a stone and you are back with the plebs

I hope this does happen just to show how nonsensical the bonus point system is. Have noticed this in the World Cup were teama have had nothing to play for going into the final games of the group stage.SecretFly wrote:Stranger things have happened in the competition that keeps on giving, No.9. Just shows you how open this competition is presumed to be - lots of variations in the projected wins as much as score lines.
Ireland 30 v Scotland 23
France 26 v England 23 - toughest to think about.

My god this is annoying!
Do I play tactically or do I go for it?
With Fly's utterly bonkers option to go for 65 for Wales he's left the door open for me to come in with a conservative prediction to possibly go top. With he and "hello from the other side" AKA RuggerRadge going for different outcomes with Ireland vs Scotland, I have an opportunity! Can I bet against Scotland though?

Oh it doesn't end with the Ireland v Scotland game, tattie.
It's the France v England match that will separate men from boys this round.
People are tripping over themselves with those two games. It'll be some lucky guys that get both right!
