This is a way better task than the last, and far more suited to this team
Lets see what we can do, I'll have an initial think today

Yep - I was planning on contributing today.
I'd suggest as a starting point finding the best 2/3 players from each team?

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Think we should confirm what formation we will play first.
Conti does play 3atb so
--------------------------GK------------------
------------CB---------CB---------CB---------
RWB---------DM----------DM----------LWB
-------------RF-------------------LF---------------
-------------------------ST----------------------------
Maybe put the right and left forwards more towards the wings but I think the formation looks ok.

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Agree with the system.
IMO, there are a few players who are absolutely key for Conte, using his ideal Chelsea team as the base this is what I would say
ST - Obvious, but needs to be a real all rounder - aerial ability, good on the floor, hold up play etc. One fairly obvious candidate, he takes up 1 English player slot/the Spurs slot but I can't think of any other English players I would have over him
Wing backs - Ideally players who play/have played that system for me - that starts with Alonso, but then you lose the Hazard option. Would have to think on the RWB
CM - Kante is great, but do we want more rounded players in that midfield 2? Also rules out Pogba for me, good as he is
I'll list my picks by team shortly

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Arsenal - Aubemayang?, Ozil,
Bournemouth - Ake, Wilson, Begovic
Brighton - Duffy, Propper, March
Burnley - Mee, Tarkowski, Cork
Chelsea - Azpilicueta, Kante, Hazard, Alonso
Crystal Palace - Sakho, Benteke, Zaha
Everton - Pickford, Sigurdsson,
Huddersfield - Mooy, Mounie, Ince
Leicester - Mahrez, Schmeichel
Liverpool - Salah
Man City - de Bruyne, Aguero, Fernandinho
Man Utd - De Gea, Lukaku, Matic, Valencia
Newcastle - Kenedy, Ritchie, Slimani
Southampton - Bertrand, Redmond, Lemina,
Stoke - Crouch, Shaqiri, Zouma, Butland
Swansea - Ayew, Sanches, Clucas
Tottenham - Alderweireld, Kane,
Watford - Richarlison, Doucoure
West Brom - Evans, Sturridge
West Ham - Arnautovic, Lanzini
I'd say the blatantly obvious without even debating are Harry Kane, Jonny Evans, Mo Salah and Riyad Mahrez.
We should play a three at the back system, I agree. Also like the idea of putting some into the squad which Chelsea have loaned out (including Kenedy and Zouma)
Kante is tempting, as is Azpilicueta and Alonso. Teams that play attacking full backs? Valencia, Coleman, Bertrand.

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
That's basically what I was planning to do, so great
I think we should start with the top 6 teams and decide who we want as they will be the stars
Arsenal - struggling here. I don't see Ozil fitting into the formation, and Aubameyang not needed given we have Kane. Could we look at a defender like Monreal as the left sided CB? Kolasinac as the wing back?
Chelsea - Much to debate. For me, its either Hazard or Alonso picking only 1 - wing backs are so crucial to this system, and Alonso is probably the best in the league
Liverpool - Salah I can't argue much with tbh. I wouldn't take any of their defenders or midfielders, I think Salah is perfect for the right sided forward in this formation
Man City - Again, so much to consider. If we're playing that two in midfield, are KDB/Silva really the best fit there? Could Walker be the option as the right wing back instead? Sane/Sterling also options for the wing forward positions
Man Utd - De Gea is an obvious place to start, but we'd have to consider his Spanishness too. Pogba doesn't fit in to this formation in my opinion but would be interested to see what you guys think. I think Alexis/Martial could be great options as the left sided forward - gives you the opportunity to get Alonso as the LWB
Spurs - Kane. He has to be the starting ST, regardless of how good some of the other Spurs players are
In my head, Salah and Kane are our only two nailed on certainties to start
If i was going to pick the players from the top 6 to start with, this would be the base of our team
--------------GK
-----?--------?-----Monreal
Walker --?----?-----Alonso
---Salah---Kane---Sanchez
I do wonder if it will leave us too weak down the spine, but this formation seems to really require top quality out wide too

Coming up short on RWB candidates outside of the top 6 so just went with Coleman
Coleman, Walker, Valencia, Moses, Ox?, Trippier, Aurier, Femenia maybe?

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
I would play Valencia RWB and swap Laporte and Sanchez with Monreal and Sane. Monreal and azpi are used to playing in a 3atb formation.

I'm fine with that. I was also considering Walker at RWB
Just means we'd need a striker other than Aubameyang if Monreal is starting

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
I've got this.
IMO Kante and Matic has to be the midfield two.
Begovic
Koscielny Evans Otamendi
Coleman Kante Matic Bertrand
Mahrez Kane Salah
Although I'd be tempted to suggest Monreal and Stones. I'm thinking the CM two and front three are definitely right, but the defense could be reshuffled.
I would be against Aubemayang/Laporte etc. being involved as they haven't played in the PL.

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Depends what we think the key roles are in that formation I guess
IMO its the wing backs and the two wider CBs - get those right and you've got a real good base. The CM pairing doesn't necessarily have to be the best players, and I think we've almost seen Kante's weaknesses come to the fore there this season and a more rounded player might be better off
I'd be happy to see Kante paired with a better all rounder than Matic though.
I also don't rate Koscielny much any more

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Could put Azpilacueta in instead of Kante then? And maybe De Bruyne alongside Matic? I'm not sure.
Personally I think the CM duo is crucial. I think Alexis and Mahrez is much of a muchness, and I'd prefer to have a Matic or Valencia in there.

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Valencia doesn't offer enough in attack to be the RWB in my opinion, he's been very ineffective even though he has scored a couple of times.
Matic I can see the argument for. I don't think KDB fits this formation, it requires a lot more defensive work than when he plays CM for a ball dominant City side
Nads call I guess

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
IMO the most important positons are the wingbacks. The CM's just have to be solid defensively and have a lot of stamina to cover the gaps in the middle.
Fabianksi/Begovic
Azpi Evans Monreal/Koscielny
Valencia Ndidi Gueye/Doucoure Bertrand
Salah Kane Sane
Would be my team. I think the defence back 3 and front 3 are ok. The midfield is just the hard part.

So it looks like this
-----------------Swansea
----Chelsea------WBA-------Arsenal
Utd---Leicester-------Everton/Watford-------Saints
-----Liverpool----Spurs-----City
Brighton, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Huddersfield, West Ham, Palace
Leaves Stoke, Burnley and either Watford or Everton to pick a forward from
What if we went with Gueye in CM and Richarlison as the sub forward?
Or Doucoure and Tosun/Siggy - Benteke could then be the sub striker?
-------------------Poland
-----Spain-------Ireland------Spain
Ecuador--Nigeria----Senegal/France----England
--Egypt----------England---------Germany
Australia, Netherlands, Brazil, Australia, Austria, Nigeria, ?
Fine on nationality

Zaha is from ivory coast
But I do think having Richarlison as a super sub would be great. And Gueye and Doucoure are about similarly rated. Think Gueye and Richarlison would be the best option.

Another suggestion would be to write a general set of tactics. One set against weaker opposition and one set against teams in the top 4 who would be harder to beat. It doesn't have to be anything too long just summat that will get the consensus of the team out.

If you got the time I think you should put together the final submission (unless trebs wants to). You did a top job with task 1 and it's not really my forte, don't want to hurt the teams chances of winning the task.

I would consider that we have to compete over a 38 game season, so we need to make sure all options are covered on the bench. Would like to see a backup target man there. Andy Carroll?

My thinking was our back up plan would be a false 9/fluid front 3 made up of Salah/Sane/Arnautovic/Zaha/Richarlison
Could consider Slimani as a back up striker? I can't bring myself to put Carroll in a team like this

Our team's submission
Personally I think the CMs are more important than the wingbacks, but we'll go with this. The bench needs a sort out, just realised we can't have Carroll as he's English. Although I think Conte would love him in the side.
Slimani isn't a bad shout but his record in the PL isn't great...

- Spoiler:
Asmir Begovic - Bournemouth
Cesar Azpilicueta - Chelsea
Jonny Evans - West Brom
Nacho Monreal - Arsenal
Antonio Valencia - Man Utd
Wilfried Ndidi - Leicester
Idrissa Gueye - Everton
Ryan Bertrand - Southampton
Mo Salah - Liverpool
Harry Kane - Tottenham
Leroy Sane - Man City
Matthew Ryan - Brighton
Kurt Zouma - Stoke
Aaron Mooy - Huddersfield
Richarlison - Watford
Wilfried Zaha - Crystal Palace
Wilfried Bony - Swansea

Valencia-------Ndidi-----Gueye-------Bertrand
----------Salah-----Kane------Sane-----------
BENCH
Ryan
Zouma
Kenedy
Mooy
Richarlison
Zaha
Bony
Deciding the squad:
We quickly decided that the sensible thing to do was to select Conte's usual 3-4-3 formation.
We went through the sides and decided that Harry Kane and Mo Salah pick themselves, as well as Cesar Azpilicueta, who is possibly the best wide centre back in world football.
Our next priority was to ensure that we selected the best possible wing-backs as they are so integral to this formation. Hence, we settled on Antonio Valencia and former Chelsea star Ryan Bertrand.
We finished by ensuring we selected a few who Conte clearly likes, including Begovic, Zouma and Kenedy, as well as the backup target man in xxxx.
Tactics:
Against the rest of the 'Big 6'
Allow our opponents the ball higher up, but get plenty of men behind the ball.
Looking to absorb any pressure put on with our back three and midfield pairing congesting the space.
In possession, break quickly with the pace of Salah and Sane, who effectively have free roles behind the striker. Kane to hold up the play, getting the others into the game.
Against the rest of the Premier League:
Attacking line-up, Valencia and Bertrand to get forward as much as possible to stretch out the opposition. Salah and Sane constantly drifting around the final third, looking for spaces in front of and in behind the defense. Looking to play the ball forward quickly, exciting football.
The central midfield pair should be high energy, looking to pressurise their midfielders quickly in possession. They are supported by our CB trio, who have plenty of pace to cover the midfield and play a higher line.

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
Putting the names to one side, I would say the bench needs:
GK
CB - Must be able to play in the wide CB roles
WB - Preferably can play both sides, not essential though as Azpi can cover.
CM - Another energetic tackling type player
CM - Creative/attacking midfielder
WG - Can play both sides if possibly, maybe upfront as a different option.
ST - Target man as this is Conte's preference

Potentially look at Lanzini in place of Arnautovic to fit the 2nd CM slot?

What do you lot think about Fosu Mensah? Good cover at CB, CM and even RB. Has loads of energy aswell to do well in any of those positions.

I'm fine with Fosu Mensah as an option, but think Zaha is about as good as it gets as a winger outside the top 6, while there's similar quality to TFM in defence

Yeah don't think there's a better winger than zaha outside the top 6.
How about Renato Sanches? What do you lot make of him?

Missing Kenedy from your squad list Trebs, other than that it looks good

Re: Task 3 - Nads, Trebs, Bam
One more option for the squad
GK - RYAN
CB - Must be able to play in the wide CB roles - ZOUMA
WB - Preferably can play both sides, not essential though as Azpi can cover. KENEDY
CM - Another energetic tackling type player - MOOY
CM - Creative/attacking midfielder - LANZINI
WG - Can play both sides if possibly, maybe upfront as a different option. - RICHARLISON
ST - Target man as this is Conte's preference - BENTEKE

Cool, I'm happy to submit the write up with the subs changed to the above. I'll do this morning unless anyone wants any more changes?
