Re: The Open Championship 2018
Harry would be fine on the bag if Rory could get that missing element into his team somehow. I would never in a million years suggest anyone else tinker with Rory's swing though. I initially threw the Williams name out there as a joke but the more I think about it the more I think it 'could' help him. Rory dumped Kenyon recently and did speak to Rotella in the past but didn't get anything out of it. Williams helped Scott, I think he could help Rory.

Either a second voice as coach (DJ analogy applies) or a new voice on the bag.
Second in driving distance and 135th in gir don't seem compatible. Either he's too wild with his driver and putting himself in self-destructively dodgy positions or he's crap w/wedges.
Something needs to change to harness the talent we all know he has.
(Also not too sure he's a good greens reader.)

Re: The Open Championship 2018
I still don't understand how Rory's perceived deficiencies could be cured with a new caddie.
I think Ned has summed it up perfectly. The issues we are all pointing to (be the ball especially) look like problems with technique which Billy Foster etc won't solve, unless he engages a swing coach as caddie.
Also, I don't think Rory has a problem reading greens. On the whole his putting is decent, just not outstanding. There have been times when he's had technical issues, e.g. pushing a lot to the right, but he's always seemed to be able to go away and fix it ahead of his next round.

As Kwini describes, it come down to picking when to hit particular clubs.

I think it's the where he hits particular clubs that is the problem.

Re: The Open Championship 2018
Was it me, or were there a lot more moronic outbursts of mashed potato etc than normal?
Maybe it was the return of Tiger, bringing larger galleries and so a more diverse crowd (let's blame tiger). Just seemed to hear a lot more stupid shouting.
Also, I heard "light the candle" quite a few times. That's a new one for me, what the hell does that mean?

Apparently "Light the candle" has been around for a while https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/golf-devil-ball-golf/light-candle-tiger-woods-gets-tee-shout-195334052.html
Doesn't explain why though.
Urban Dictionary's meaning doesn't clear things up

So it's not a reference to the opening lines of "Pipes of Peace" by Sir Paul McCartney?
