Press conference - ***Special Announcement***
Exeter Gently manager Trebs has called a special press conference just as the season is about to get underway, in order to present a huge announcement. Two key appointments have been made, following a very successful meeting in Birmingham.
The first appointment is of Nick Fury, who brings a wealth of experience to Exeter. He has been recently pursuing other projects but now has the perfect opportunity to return to the fold in a key role of Head Scout. Initially, he is taking the role on a freelance capacity - as and when requirements suit. Slightly outside of his remit, his first duty will be to provide the name for the stadium which we will be playing in this season.
Exeter Gently are also delighted to announce that Viva, also known as FIFA diva, will be joining the staff. He will be a crucial addition to the team, not only with his wealth of knowledge, but also as possibly the most likeable manager around. Viva steps in immediately as head coach.
Manager Trebs said:
'The two managers provide valuable experience to the club, with somewhere near a combined 30 years of gaming history at the club. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge in the manager world knows who these two guys are.
As soon as I heard that there was a possibility of getting them involved I was very quick to arrange a meeting with the pair. From our conversations, it was crystal clear that we all have the same vision, the same goals. I hired both of them on the spot as both of them ensure the long term success of the club.'

Question from the floor......
With Nick Fury's experience of fake grass, is there any prospect of you playing on an artificial pitch?
And does this mean that his much taller brother, David Villa, will be joining Exeter?
And finally, have you warned all local Chinese restaurants of Viva's arrival?

Its quite surprising that a manager of Trebs reputation should feel the need for two sidekicks to compete in this league.
Its quite a statement as to how FIFA has progressed football management

I have two questions. Is this Trebs admitting he doesn't have what it takes anymore, and if so, is this just a way of training up his potential replacements?

I feel that after being lauded for his tactical ability, Treb's is now scared of being found out as a tactical fraud, so has two scapegoats in place already.

Also it's interesting that this has come before his side has even kicked a ball, almost to suggest he doesn't back his players

Its got the air of Mourinho .. knowing he's going to disappoint so just being ready to cause the biggest ruckus possible, get sacked and collect the compensation

Thank you for your questions Afro. To take each of them in turn:
The pitch being suited to our game is absolutely paramount and comes before any cost analysis. Nick has serious expertise of all types of grass, and will have a large say on what we do here. To reiterate, one of his first jobs for us will be to name the stadium.
I would be lying if I said that we wouldn't exploit his brotherly links to our advantage. However, we may see Nick take to the field himself. We have heard that he is in fantastic form for the sevens. He has a similar playing style to Villa, so there could be some healthy competition for places.
As it stands, signing Villa would contravene the league rules, but we are considering applying for a dispensation to bring in the forward.
The Chinese restaurants are very aware of Viva's arrival, not only the restaurants but the takeaways too. We are considering a few ideas to the take the club forward. Our Welsh friends in Cardiff have been considering renaming to the Cardiff Dragons, which has gone down very well with the fans so we will be doing a consultation deciding ourselves whether we pick up on this idea.

Re: Press conference - ***Special Announcement***
Regarding the further questions raised by others asking about the reason for my appointments, I'd like to say the following.
The two men I have brought in are not sidekicks. Both of these guys have a lot to offer and I don't believe that one man makes a team. I wouldn't have just hired any man off the street, the only people worthy of joining my Exeter team are these two. The only other person that was considered was SmartestGooner, but it was decided that he didn't quite fit the team dynamic.
I have worked in a co-management system before, most notably with Nadz, where we made huge waves in LSTD's league. It was an arrangement that suited the pair of us very well, as we had different strengths and our skillsets were complimentary.
To say that it is strange that the appointment comes before the first game of the season, I ask what the point of waiting is. Our meeting was full of excellent ideas and I'd rather have got it sorted prior to the season beginning. The players are delighted to have Viva in as head coach. Our new signing Tahith Chong has already said that he has learnt more in his first day here than he did from Jose Mourinho.
There will not be a meltdown due to working relationship between the three of us, I cannot make that point any plainer.

Just to clarify it was Hodgey's league where trebs and I Co managed a team together. I hired him as my assistant manager and when the time was right, I stepped down and trebs took over as the head honcho. But we worked well together and Trebs's lower league knowledge helped me out when I was struggling to get together a decent squad. I think the trebs + viva + nick threesome will work wonders and be mutually beneficial to all involved.

So before Trebs was head honcho, was he just the backup honcho?

He was more than a backup I gave him all the power that a normal manager would have. I let him reply to offers and such and make offers to other clubs aswell. While it remains to be seen if Viva and Nick will be given as much power in the club as I gave trebs

My role will be head of transfers and head of tactics. Nick and Viva have control of everything else regarding the club.

All this tells me is Trebs can't handle the pressure, the fans will be baying for his blood in no time.
Luckily he's already employed two ready made replacements to step in and steady the ship, one could take over as head of transfers and the other as head of tactics

Disagree. Viva has had the pleasure of meeting all the players and is working with them. I await his report on which ones we intend to keep, which will be sold at the earliest opportunity, and which will be sold should be get a lawyer's offer.
Nick is currently consulting the good people of Exeter regarding the name of the stadium and also potentially a name change. Although I'll be impressed if he comes up with a better name than Exeter Gently.

Friday lunchtime drink may be talking but what the actual f*ck?! This is hilarious. Soooooo basically Viva and Nick are your bitches and so when you inevitably complain about how the Fifa league doesn't work because it is not your usual tactics based stuff, you can go and without screwing us over leaving a team in limbo mid season?
I mean fair play with creating a Press Conference and all, but for me this is a non-story. Trebs doesn't think he will be able to move his so called tactical genius over to the new type of league so he is setting up his fall guys. And for me Nick and Viva have enough knowledge and experience not to suddenly be deemed as number 2's (literally) at Exeter Gently - sold yourself short gentlemen.
Never fail to lighten up my day Trebs - brilliant.

I think it’s excellent and adds to the league, one lacking in personalities and ideas from some jaded and frankly deluded coaches. Their egos will let them down, whereas you’ve put yours aside for the good of YOUR TEAM NAME. Bravo

You've just got the heebie-jeebies about having to face the Exeter juggernaut. It's not till week 10 so you have time to get yourself sorted out before then.
The two didn't express any concerns with the roles agreed in our meeting. I'm sure they'll let me know if that changes, but they are certainly not, to use your phrase, my biatches.
