Apologies for not getting many of the games done over the weekend, will be a bonanza of them this evening though.

I'll be sat at the side of a pool again this evening, 6.15 to 7.15, looking for something to fill the time

Thought this may be the week Grimsby's winning run finally comes to an end as Mansfield are a top side, the manner of their victory appears ominous for the rest of the league!

Changed my formation for the first time in months, battered.
Not helped by the subs. Diangana came on at left back, then Godfrey came on in centre midfield.
AND THEY STILL WONT F***ING SHOOT

Crashed and burned there. Managed to save a penalty, but trying to play out from our half killed us. No shots on target either

Some debut by Dylan Vente - two goals, one of which Dennis Bergkamp would have been proud!

Tweak to the tactics looked like it was working perfectly 2-0 at half time and dominant. then it looked like it was too much and they tired really quickly to lose 3-2

You’re flying!
I’m going backwards very quickly. Think it’s 3 points from the last 5 games, plus I’ll lose 6 when we ditch Bury and Newport.

It's alright im losing 6 aswell Still not convinced it's entirely fair but id take compensation in the form of money Being really lazy with tactics > doing tactics is the key
Also just buying jacked players helps too

Now there's a press conference question, have you bought players to suit your tactics, or suited tactics toward the players you've bought!

How so? I haven't seen the match. Maybe he has torn allegiances Where did you have him in the team?
The games I got him to play well was as an attacking midfielder, who stays up front, comes in for crosses and is gungho in defence (whatever the opposite of conservative is...i forget). He kept winning the ball back for me in the other opponents half. I suppose it is a number 10 role?
His finishing/heading stats are wasted as a CM or CDM. You could put him up front I suppose......should be able to hold his own there

Relieved with that win over Carlisle thought having a lot of defensive injuries would cause big issues especially with Addae at RB.

Things were looking pretty perilous at 0-2 down after 60 mins however nice to see D-Rod and the boys stepping up to turn that one around

I thought TAB had found a way to beat the big bad wolf in that first half, boring them to death with 5 yard passes outside their box

I think we should call Season 1 quits, give Nando the title now, raise the cap to 75 and get going with Season 2

No.
We have bonuses to calculate at the end of the season based on Afros table. I'd like to finish this season so that it is closer to the start of the next PL season. It makes a difference to ratings.
You are saying you are bored and you want to spend your TM uplift and buy 75 rated players. Nothing to do with Grimsby doing really well

One of the things to consider is the length of season 2 and the release of FIFA 20.

The new Fifa normally comes out around the end of September if I recall.
When's the current season scheduled to end now that a couple of teams have been cut?

Personally I prefer the shorter seasons, playing each other once. Home and Away doesn't have a sufficient difference to justify playing the games twice.

Whereas you're saying that you'd like to finish the season so you end up with more 70-75 players from your existing squad before the cut off
For what its worth I agree with you, gives more of a chance for inflated TM values

Have you not looked at my squad.....that's very unlikely even with their potential
In some ways I agree with Trebs that a shorter season could be good. But then I think we did it like this to have longevity between FIFA's
I think it would be more important to have home and away matches for a smaller pool of managers that you know are going to stick around. I think that is our current lot.

Oh we definitely need to finish season 1, Grimsby haven't won anything yet
I wouldn't be opposed to having shorter seasons from season 2, although for the sake of longevity wouldn't want to increase the ratings cap too quickly.
Maybe instead of one long season where everyone plays each other twice it could be split into two seasons at a 75 cap. Play everyone once, crown the champion. Then maybe Hero can run an update, TM prices are frozen at their new values, reset the league table and play the next season at the same cap.
Means that if you get off to a poor start you still have an incentive to build a competitive side for the following season whilst also allowing you to benefit from any ratings or price rise investments.

Or you don't go up in 5s. So next season is, for example capped at 73, then 75 etc

Doesn't have to be 73, that was just an example. You could do 75, then 78 for season 3, 82 for season 4, 85 for season 5 etc

There are 12 week's left, which takes us to the end of June.
If we then ran a 14 team league, assuming a weeks break and no cup, season 2 would run to the first week of October if we play each other once, or January if we play each twice.

We did it years ago where the TM limit started at something like 10m, then went up by 500k per week. I think it could work.
Only thing I would say is that I'd prefer some sort of auction to prevent it being the person who is up at midnight and clicks fastest getting a player everyone wants.

Works perfectly given that FIFA is usually released at the end of September.

I recall that, enjoyed it as well as kept freshening up the league.
Only issue would be ensuring players bought were of that rating when my update, hard enough now with it being 70 all season, changing every x weeks but still having to check a certain time point would probably cause issues.

Re: Match Talk 1 - contains result spoilers
Its an idea worth considering, although you're right it did then become a race to see who could pick up the player at 12am/9am as the limit went up.
I also would prefer not to see something that adds an extra thing to track and need to remember when looking for players.
