Pro14: Dragons vs Edinburgh 25/11
First topic message reminder :
Last time out: Dragons 12 - 25 Edinburgh
Record: Played each other 30 times, Edinburgh edging it (only marginally) 16 wins to 13 (with 1 draw in the mix as well)
Both teams are likely to be missing a number of players with Wales and Scotland in action the day before.
Also the sh*ttest KO time going, if you factor in the internationals the day before, I would imagine there will be max 5 Edinburgh fans travelling for this game.

Very silly from Hunter-Hill, that might even cost the BP

The backs might as well go for a shower - this isn't leaving the forwards

Deserved win from the dragons - we just didn't do enough over the 80.
Our playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.

Very unadventurous from Edinburgh, can't say they did not deserve that

Didn’t see who that was who got turned over but definitely saw it coming! What were they thinking?? Everyone was still on the floor!
Well done dragons! Easily the better team despite a few silly handling errors at times.

Guess we'll have to win the Champions Cup to qualify for Europe next season!

That result was well and truly deserved, with Edinburgh being utterly mince and Dragons actually playing pretty well.

Re: Pro14: Dragons vs Edinburgh 25/11
I don't think Hickey or Pyrgos are really cutting it at the moment. Both too one dimensional at the moment. If the rumours are true about Hickey's wages, then I really hope he either shows his worth soon or there is a clause to let him go if he's not capable, as so far I have seen nothing to suggest he's better than Jaco.
I get Pyrgos likes a box kick, or is being told to box kick, and if you're box kicking it's absolutely right that its set in a way that an Edinburgh player can challenge for it, but it also lets the opposition get totally set and ready for pretty much anything coming there way.
I know there are 13 other players on the field, but given those two are supposed to control the game for Edinburgh, currently I just don't see it.
That said, there was a lot of dross on display. I know Cockers has done a lot of good since he came in, but him and his team are responsible for the tactics and style of play, and currently it's ineffective and painful to watch. Not saying cockers out or anything mad like that, just saying a lot of blame here needs to fall at his door and he needs to start sorting it out.

Re: Pro14: Dragons vs Edinburgh 25/11
Sounds strange but signing Pyrgos has played a big part in our utterly abysmal playing style - everything revolves around him. If we were stuck with Kennedy and Fowles our game plan wouldn't be so dictated by our 9.
It's also a major issue that Cockerill doesn't trust anyone but Pyrgos over 80 minutes.

Re: Pro14: Dragons vs Edinburgh 25/11
Given both Fowles and Kennedy are out of contract this year, I really hope Cockers (or if we have such a thing as a scouting team) are having a look at possible replacements for someone who could step up a be first choice, or at least offer some realistic competition to Pyrgos.
Just for the record this isn't a reaction to just this game, we've been playing like this all season and I can't see anything improving whilst we play the way we do

Edinburgh have now lost 5 games - they only lost 6 in the league last season.
As an aside - Hodge has to go. Our backs and attacking play under his regime has been retched.

I'm hoping that was your Southern Kings moment for the season. But you never know....

Hard to be to critical of the backs as they never get the ball.
Edinburgh seem to have two tactics: pick and go or box kick and neither of them seem to be working very well.

Thing is though they did get a lot of ball tonight they just made a complete arse of it. Our basic skills under Hodge are just shocking - night and day to what Glasgow's B team produced on Friday.

Good win for Dragons. Atmosphere was a little flat at times, especially first half. We actually got the ball in Jordan Williams’ hands today too, which was a pleasant surprise.

Didn't see the game but sounds like a Herculean effort from our four back rowers saved our blushes thereRiscaGame wrote:Good win for Dragons. Atmosphere was a little flat at times, especially first half. We actually got the ball in Jordan Williams’ hands today too, which was a pleasant surprise.

I didn’t see Lewis Evans do much, to be honest. Think he must’ve been doing the Dan Lydiate unseen stuff. I’m sure a lot of them had high tackle counts, with the way Edinburgh played. The only real standouts from the pack were Griffiths (obviously) and Keddie for me.

ESPN had Hibbard (missed him) and Griffiths on 19, Shanks on 20 and Keddie and Cudd both on 23, only a few misses between them. Somebody was obviously listening to Bernard during extra D practice.

Good win for Dragons. Hopefully it gives some belief to the players.
