Not only that - I honestly think Twist's selection would beat United tonight:

Ter Stegen
Pique - Puyol - Mascherano
Rivaldo - Xavi - Toure - Iniesta
Messi - Ibrahimovic - Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho wouldn't need to do much running next to Ibra and Messi, and Rivaldo's skill would allow him to operate well. Genuinely, I think that team beats United.

Michael Laudrup had to be in my team (he's my favourite player of all-time), so it was a question of which of Rivaldo or Ronaldinho to leave out. Rivaldo scored the greatest hat-trick in football history, so the buck-toothed 80s-headband-wearing beanpole is out.

Now there's a debate.

His was tremendous, but in football history? I'm not sure.

If Man U could guess that team in advance, they could just go out wide and ping it over the top constantly. Problem being is that if they lose it, chances are they would not get a sniff of the ball for 20mins! The ball gets to their final 3rd and goodnight. Even if you cover 5 of those front 7, you get Xavi just hogging the ball and playing the intricate through balls. Then Toure just coming from deep and bulldozing everyone.

In the 30's, 40's and 50's you were used to teams playing 5 up top and pretty much no defence. Here is the Busby Babes team in comparison:

Wood
Byrne - Foulkes
Edwards - Blanchflower - Colman
Charlton - Whelan
Pegg - Taylor - Berry

Now I only know a few of those from things my Dad used to say, so had to wiki a few. But that is basically 2-3-5. I suppose Barcelona are probably the only team that could potentially get away with that in the modern era

Phil Jones and Ashley Young weren't good enough to keep Messi at bay. Who knew?

Ole needs to go out and spend £200m this summer, all on defenders. Midfield and attack can wait.

Its not even his fault

The board should have been smart enough not to act rashly and give him the job before the end of the season. He may well have proved to be the right and available man for the job, but what was the need to confirm it in March?

Just smacks of Woodward not wanting to pay to get Poch (or not being able to get him), so taking the easy option off the back of a big win

Nothing embarrassing for Ole about losing to Barca. Already beat the odds to get past PSG.

If beating PSG was against the odds, United no longer belong in the Champions League. Even as bad as they are now, they ought to sweep PSG aside easily.

That that makes no sense. PSG have a far more expensive and better team on paper, so there’s no way United should be sweeping them aside

I wholeheartedly disagree - United are better on paper, and are only "cheaper" because they've brought far more players through their system / bought them some time ago. If I wanted to win a game of football, I'd take Solskjaer's team over Tuchel's cavaliers, any day. There's a damn good reason PSG never win anything worth winning, they're like Celtic but with money.

Totally. More players from United's side would get into PSG's than vice-versa:

De Gea > Buffon
Shaw > Bernat
Rashford > Draxler
Pogba > Verratti
Lindelof > Kimpembe
Lingard > di Maria

Not to mention, literally anyone > Dani Alves, even Mr No Balloon Door votes himself, the real-life managerial bottler, Paul Scholes.

Draxler and di Maria probably wouldn’t even play for PSG every week if Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani were all fit

I can't stand United, everyone knows that. But PSG have never been a "team", not since the days of George Weah anyway. They're a collection of individuals, who bottle every big game they ever play, and besides Mbappe there's not a player in that team I'd want to see play for Albion (I'd take Neymar, only to sell him).

PSG are literal crap - proven to be so over many years of persistent failure - and United are proven to be a competent team on the big stage. "Everyone and their dog" is something that happens more and more - no-one wants to go against popular opinion, to say that something "cool" isn't actually cool. No-one wants to criticize PSG because they're so good "on paper" and "costs lots", and they have old man Buffon. I'll say it. PSG aren't even a top 10 side in Europe, even with all their expensive "stars".

Add in Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani if you want - I'd still rather have Lukaku than Cavani.

And according to OddsChecker, PSG were 9/5 to win the first leg, and United were 7/5, so I'm not sure who it was that had PSG as "big" favourites?

To look at the odds for the United home leg on its own is simply wrong, obv. I can’t be bothered looking will leave you to it if you want to see that

I’m not saying PSG are good, just that United have been dog poo for the last five years or so

I mean making a point about PSG and money is fair... but not when you look at United and their own expensive ‘stars’

What’s the plan with fixtures?

Are we just saying games against Crawley and MK Dons are a week off? Probably easier than trying to rework the fixture list.

I can easily take the past results out when I am back at a PC.

But if we are going to remove them from fixtures, which I think we should do that Hero doesn’t have to play unnecessary games, then the sooner the better.

For example, I have MK dons this week on the fixture list, so I either need to not worry about tactics or do them to play someone else.

We would also have to follow protocol and take their results out of the table from the year, as that was what happened last time.

If we can list the fixtures this year (between those of us who are left) that have been played twice, we can put them into one/two/three weeks of the fixtures and make up the rest of the list

I did do some, but only a copy and paste job from last week.

So I'll make the executive decision that it was a week off and we just need to check with Dolph about the re-do of the fixture list and where he is at with it.

I'll update the results and table with both last week's games and taking Crawley/Dons out, tonight
