Re: Wales and Ireland Two warm up test series Match Thread
They said before the game that the 10s would get 40 minute each.
Lot of handling mistakes by both sides so far - with Wales very much like a team of second and 3rd choices trying too hard to impress. Perhaps the biggest winners for Wales so far are Moriarty and Wainwright. I know they are not on the pitch but Shingler and Navidi will be really disappointed with their first half.
Ireland's back 3 look threatening in attack, and overall the team (despite the error count) look far more interested in the match than last week's lineup did.

Maes I deleted the post to get back on track, I don’t want our English chums to feel unwelcome. I was merely suggesting and hoping it doesn’t go the way of previous threads lately...

I was really hoping Tomas would be on at nine this half. Nice break.
Lots of subs at half time.
Both props, Patchell too

They subbed 10, why not sub the 9 who isn’t performing (as usual).

I really rate Navidi but I've barely noticed he's playing this game. I don't t think he's an international 8!

It just seems that if you get a good high jumper at the front, the throwers can't cope. Could be wrong, I hope I am.

Bit soon to say? His previous start at 8 was MOTM, and I can’t see what he’s done wrong today. He plays there often for Cardiff although he can play 6 and 7 too. I think whatever Schmidt had planned has worked, the back 5 of the Ireland pack in particular.

Yeah maybe a bit harsh, just don't think Wales should rely on him at 8 other than in emergencies. There's a huge step up from Blues to Wales!

Isn't that what they said about Richard Hill. I thought he has been okay. Nothing spectacular, but doing a lot of the clearing up.

I think it was the wrong call on the scrum there, looked like Ireland TH brought it down. I don’t think Brown was going on tour anyway but it was still a harsh call on him.

Irish tighthead binds illegally every time, his initial bind is on the shoulder, then slides round the shoulder and drives the Welsh loosehead down.

Ooft I thought Wales had that.
Surely some 'dark arts' by Ireland to turn that over.

If he did it worked, 7 points and playing vs 14 men. It’s a cynical claim but these things happen.

All they had to do was drive the Wales scrum back. nothing to be gained from collapsing.
