Oh oh oh ..... yellow card game on. Borderline red!
All that talk of discipline...once again a team with a history of celebrating thuggery might just have committed ritual suicide by living up to reputation.
Japan have to make this count

He was lucky there, just came down on the shoulder, very very close to a red

Stupid tackle. Landing on the shoulder just saved him.

Fair play to Barnes. I thought he was a bit quick to decide on the card colour, but he must’ve been confident he saw the landing.

Barnes really is a terrific referee. For obvious reasons I hope he isn't able to ref the final but he certainly deserves it

Absolute mess of a game. SA need to do the basics right and play the game sensibly, rather than trying to outdo Japan in a desperate 7s contest.

I'd forgotten Kolbe and WLR were even playing! The Japan game plan doesn't give them ball to run back and SA aren't getting it out wide whenever they do have the ball

I do think refs are being 'lenient' with Japan, that wouldn't be the case if for example SA was playing another QFinalist.
As if giving them an easier session coz they is Tier 2

Yeah why clever?
Because SA are known as the Springboks and the shirt designer has managed to incorporate that into the fabric of the shirt.
Maybe I’m easily amused but I think that’s quite a clever design

SA bench is stuffed with massive ball carriers - Marx on already, Kitshoff, Snyman and Mostert all monsters
Deliberate tactic to bludgeon a tiring defence?

1 hour for the first half ....but only two scores.
Japan have done very well to hang in thanks partly to SA handling errors and of course the yellow card. That forward power off the bench will surely count into the second half
