Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Saturday 30th November
Glasgow Warriors v Leinster
Scotstoun Stadium
Glasgow
Saturday 30th November (St Andrews Day)
KO 19.35
Live on Premier Sport
So it is back to the Pro 14 for last years two finalists after their European jaunts, which delivered a mixed set of results.
Leinster will be pretty happy with their efforts and look to be strolling into the playoffs once again, whilst Glasgow, though not out of it yet, showed their limits at this level once again, being well beaten by Exeter (no shame in that) but after being well in the game for the first 40 mins, feel away really badly. They did a similar thing the previous week against Sale but fortunately had enough in the tank to get them over the line.
So Glasgow still not completely firing yet this year, good in parts, but not in the whole. Leinster on the other hand, despite also losing a host of their top players to Ireland for the WC, have carried all before them and look the team to beat in the league. It looks a tall order for the Warriors on current form, but they are a team that do sometimes bring out the best in us and we did manage to beat them twice last season, something not many sides do.
Both teams will be giving some players a rest, seeing as it is only one week off before Euro hostilities are renewed the following week. For Leinster, this is not a game that they need to win, but they may fancy it in any case, just because they can. In terms of our league position and the need to push on to make the playoffs and just to regain our form, it is far more important.
I think we may see a Glasgow side something along these lines:
1. Allen
2. Turner
3. Rae
4. Gray J
5. Cummings
6. Harley
7. Gordon
8. Wilson
9. Price
10. Horne P
11. Niko
12. McDowell
13. Jones H
14. Steyn
15. Bryce
Subs:
Seuili
Stewart (if Fit)/Mathews
Nicol
McDonald
Flockhart
Dobie

There’s a typo in the Gee, you’ve accidentally written Jones H at 13. We all know the Cowboy isn’t going to do that, you must have meant something else

Good chance for Glasgow to get one over Leinster - I can see them putting their reserves out. Their 2nd and even 3rd team would still compete well in the league so it won't be easy, but Glasgow should still win.

H Jones to get a hat trick and Cowboy to drop him for the next 3 weeks because he's not as physical in defense as Grigg

Good time to play Leinster. Big game for Jones and Niko, both of whom are becoming more peripheral.

Nah Gee has it spot on. Rennie will play Jones in this game as he'll not want to put out all his 1st team players.
Unfortuately it is possible that Glasgow and thier powderpuff pack then mean the backs dont get any ball and Shug doesnt get a chance to show hes not a pony!

I expect this to be a TBP win for Glasgow by more than 7 point margin. Leinster shouldn't even been in the running for this one. Our tight five will be adequate, our backrow probably won't get parity. Half-backs definitely Glasgow, and outside of Lowe in the backs Glasgow will run though the leinster backs.

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Saturday 30th November
Leinster will be looking to make a strong statement for this game so should put out an experienced side against last year's losing finalists.
They have two back-to-back games against Saints coming up followed by a set of interpro derbies. Cullen & Lancaster want to get 10/10 for this batch of games.
Think they need to get some rustiness out of the returning RWC players so some of them should feature this weekend. And they need to give some of the younger players a little rest like young Kelleher who's played a lot of minutes so far this season and Sean Cronin is still injured.
Don't know whether they'll start or finish with some of them.
1. Cian Healy/Peter Dooley
2. James Tracy
3. Tadgh Furlong/Michael Bent
4. Scott Fardy
5. Devin Toner
6. Rhys Ruddock/Josh Murphy
7. Scott Penny
8. Caelan Doris/Max Deegan
9. Jamison Gibson Park
10. Ross Byrne
11. Cian Kelleher
12. Robbie Henshaw/Joe Tomane
13. Garry Ringrose
14. Adam Byrne
15. Jordan Larmour
Reps: Peter Dooley, Bryan Byrne, Michael Bent, Ross Molony, Josh Murphy, Hugh O'Sullivan, Ciaran Frawley, Fergus McFadden
Or it could be something completely different. Armchair coaching and selection is very stressful.

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Saturday 30th November
Gee, thanks for putting this thread up
Novo virus/winter vomiting thingy/really guff lurgi...whatever. I had no real idea how virulent it can be; grandson was puking through the night on Sunday, Princess Daughter off work on Tuesday, Feckless Rogue sent home from his work Tuesday pm, Tuesday night and my katsu chicken curry made a reappearance and another and another. , by Wednesday Mrs Pip was vomiting too. But in a very ladylike fashion. Mind you, I have lost about five pounds.
So, Glasgow really need a win tomorrow...while the Ladyboys can afford to rest players and concentrate on Europe. But Dr has been palying a fairly settled 23 and some players will need to be rested before the La Rochelle games and the Luvvies double header. Double header; as in how Batman will welcome Henners back to Scotstoun
I predict....
1. Allan SueEllen
2. Stewart Fitter And
3. Rae Hector, I bet only GC will get that one
4. Ickle Jonny
5. McDonald Davidson
6. Cully
8. Ashe
7. Mullet Giant Red Crayon, I think the Mullet was born to roll around a muddy field swapping punches with angry Irishmen. I just hope the ref doesn't get in the way.
9. Aldi Price. Dobie
10. Thompson who has probably served his time on the naughty step
11. Nairn
12. Stafford remember him?
13. Not A Pony
14. Seaman
15. Seymour Needs to play himself into form. Furra Linee and MadMata to cover all the backs position.
I think it's a Ladyboys victory. I'm also bemused that our season could could effectively be over by New Year. The next five games have no real margin for error.

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Saturday 30th November
Probably about the best team we could get out considering the need to rest players and injuries.
Huw Jones finally gets a meaningful game, hope he makes the most of it!
JG makes his come back and we will get our first view of our new LH, Aki Seiuli.
Pack looks a little light weight again but at least we have some beef to come on from the bench this time.
Still going to be hard work though!

Leinster have definitely held back a bit, not a match they need to win I guess, but still a very decent team.
Could be an interesting game.

Dobie is probably in the gym getting told to get a bit more muscle onboard, which to be fair, he will probably need. Hopefully we will see a bit more of him during the 6N window.
I guess we don't have a lot of choice apart from him!

No Watt's on second!
One of Abbott and Costello's funnier jokes. But that's not saying much; they were almost as unfunny as the Three Stooges. Think Gove and Johnson as a double act. As opposed to the Three Stooges which would be the previous two with the addition of Jacob Rees Mogg. But if you were nostalgic for the Sand Dance you could go all Wilson, Kepple and Betty by dropping Oiky Gove and bringing in Pritti Patel.

Re: Glasgow Warriors v Leinster Saturday 30th November
Speaking of comedians.....
Boris Johnson’s father, Stanley, has been criticised for appearing to suggest the British public is illiterate.
In an appearance on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire show, the 79-year-old was told that one viewer had called his son “Pinocchio”. Johnson replied: “Pinocchio? That requires a degree of literacy which I think the Great British public doesn’t necessarily have.”
The show’s presenter, Joanna Gosling, standing in for Derbyshire, asked what he meant by that, to which Johnson replied that he didn’t want to go into it.
“That’s quite a pejorative thing to say about the Great British public,” Gosling suggested.
Johnson said: “They couldn’t spell Pinocchio if they tried, I shouldn’t have thought.” He then challenged Gosling to spell it.
Johnson said he had been trying to make the point humorously, but he thought it was “utterly absurd and wrong that you can read out on air a tweet coming in from one of your readers which calls the prime minister a liar. I think it is amazing you can do that.”
I'm not sure which is more "unsettling"; the obvious contempt for the "average person" or the outrage that one of the great unwashed might actually dare criticize the Prime Minister.

I'm sure he and the Chookie Embra could do a wonderful double act. Of course it would all be "satirical" "in no way ever intended to cause offence ". Not to anyone.

Only to those who want to take it. And sure they were only joking.

22. Ciarán Frawley (16)
23. Fergus McFadden (179)
That’s a handy enough team but up against it in Scotstoun.
Dev Toner seems to have been around forever with that number of caps. Jack Aungier must be wondering will I ever get there.
Interesting bench - the Byrne Bros need to pull up their socks in the front row. Scott Penny should be raring to go and prove again that size doesn’t matter in the back row. And McFadden is entering his rage against the dying light phase this season.

I used to like Stanley but whether it was meant as a joke or not he’s really put his foot in it just as Boris would have done.
It really did come across like the wee people on the world are too thick to dare challenge the elite.

Horne however, has unsurprisingly looked pretty inaccurate.

Leinster not looking particularly sharp - some of the combos rusty.
Surprised they’re not using Kelleher more. Adam Byrne seems to have brought cowhands tonight.

And there we go - Kelleher gets to use his wheels. He’s a bit to go to catch his brother in the scoring stakes.

Kelleher was part of the superb Connacht back-three when they won the title in 2016. He’s been out of form and favour. Good to see him get a couple under his belt after his move back to Leinster this season.
