6CW Proving Grounds Results 12th July 2020

*The show immediately begins with “Sweet but Psycho” playing out and Miss Jessica leading Tyler Roth, James McManus, Ricky Nelson, Jimmy Phillips and Johnny Lawless to ringside. Miss Jessica says they have a lot to get through tonight and she wants to start by issuing a warning to Dante Phoenix. She says that Phoenix will have to turn up at some point if he wants to keep his job and when he does he is going to pay the ultimate price for his double-cross at Scars and Stripes. Jessica says she has compiled an unstoppable army to bring 6CW in line and she will have no qualms in unleashing the wrath of said army in order to maintain control.

That brings her onto Jackson Jackson. Jackson Jackson in the 6CW Champion and he deserves respect but Jessica isn’t happy with his attitude toward her and now is the time for him to pledge his allegiance. Jessica says it is important that the 6CW Champion is model employee of the company and a true representative of her regime. So she wants Jackson Jackson to come out her and join her cause or else.

*There is a long pause and then “The man” booms out. There is complete shock on Miss Jessica’s face as Dante Phoenix arrives with Cillian Frost. Frost is holding the “file” from Cherry Falls and says he’s been having some very enlightening conversations with Phoenix. Jessica tries to interrupt but Frost says now is his time to speak.

*Frost goes on about how he brought 6CW back to repay the fans for their unwavering support and he truly believed that Miss Jessica would make a fine General Manager, despite her past, but he now sees how foolish he was.

The big screen then highlights some newspaper cuttings with headlines such as;

*Miss Jessica can be seen squirming as she looks up at the evidence in front of her. Cillian Frost says it almost reads like something out of a Hollywood thriller and yet here they are. Jessica & Johnny Lawless, who would have ever believed them brother and sister. And whilst in their teens they were connected to the mysterious death of a classmate. However just when it seemed like they were destined for jail they were spared by the confession of another young boy who lived on their street, a loner with an infatuation.

*Frost points back to the big screen and we see transcripts of conversations from the Cherry Falls Asylum where Engel Harlequin admitted that he had grown up with the Lawless’ family living nearby and despite never being accepted by society he was always made to feel special by two of the most popular kids in school. It transpired that Jessica manipulated this “love” to make Engel do whatever she wanted, despite being repulsed by him, and that her brother, Johnny, was a huge part of the plot too. Engel was sent to Cherry Falls Asylum after being declared criminally insane

*The documents go on to reveal that whenever Jessica found herself in a spot of trouble over the years she would turn to Engel and every time Engel would do her bidding whilst her brother used his position on the B.O.D of Cherry Falls to ensure his timely release. Miss Jessica, herself, was then admitted to Cherry Falls herself in 2011 following a breakup with Lex Hart that saw custody of her son pass to Hero. Engel Harlequin would then target Hero (Night of Glory) and even kidnapped Austin Lawless, only to return him to Jessica upon her release

*Johnny Lawless’ wrestling career ended and he became successful in business ventures and built contacts that allowed him to pull strings for both his sister and Engel Harlequin’s erratic behaviour, all with the intention of seizing as much control as possible. Upon hearing of 6CW’s re-opening Jessica pleaded with her brother to get Engel released one more time whilst she concocted a plot to seize the company for herself, believing that it was her right to run a company with which they all had a prestigious history.

Engel’s job was to take out Cillian Frost, which he did, and then Jessica manipulated the Frost family to sign control of 6CW to her so that she could run it in his name. The Lawless’ twins then ensured Engel was returned to Cherry Falls but they didn’t bank on Dante Phoenix stumbling across this treasure trove of information, unravelling their plot.

Frost has returned to take control of his company but Jessica finds her voice, her brother alongside her, and says that 6CW now belongs to them. She has given everything to this business and she’s had to endure all the insults over the years but she won’t give this up for anyone. She says Frost’s wife signed the contract and there is no going back on that. Frost admits Jessica owns a portion of the company but not all of it and earlier today Cillian Frost bought all the remaining shares from the shareholders, making him a 50-50 partner. Jessica and Johnny Lawless are outraged but Frost tells them it is real simple. They have their army and he’s fortunately got one of his own, loyal to 6CW. So why don’t they have a match. Beachfront Brawl. War Games. For Control of 6CW.

Tyler Roth/Jimmy Phillips/James McManus & Ricky Nelson vs Dicey Reilly/Perfect Jack/Dante Phoenix & Marty Helms

*Jessica and Johnny Lawless consider for a moment and then they agree. They say they’ll seize total control and make sure Frost never sets foot in the building again. Jessica says that everyone who has stood beside him will be punished until they beg to be released from their contracts. This is her 6CW. Frost disagrees and says 6CW has been on life support during her tenure but he promises to breathe life into the company once more. There is a staredown as the rest of Team Frost join (minus Marty Helms) on the stage whilst the commentary hype up and discuss the huge show opener.

*We return from the break and Team Frost are gathered in the backstage area. Perfect Jack says he’s ready to strike first and heads back out. Cillian Frost tells the rest of his team that he’ll see them later but he has something to do. He then walks off and we see him come across Jackson Jackson. They exchange pleasantries and Jackson says he hopes he isn’t being groomed for a spot on the team because he isn’t interested. He’s focused on staying 6CW Champion and he doesn’t want to be caught up in a war. Frost agrees that Jackson is doing a great job as world champion and is a fine representative of the company. Frost tells Jackson to keep making 6CW proud. Jackson leaves and Frost then enters a room to the side where all 6CW officials are present. Frost makes it clear that any referee guilty of bias from now on will be immediately terminated.

*James McManus is shown stood in the ring waiting as "I am perfection" is blaring out through the speakers and Perfect Jack is walking down the ramp. The commentators discuss the alliance of individuals supporting Miss Jessica and those fighting against them.

*The match starts off with some chain-wrestling between the technical wrestling wizards. After an exchange of holds, McManus takes PJ down to the canvas with a hip toss. He applies an armbar which he controls the tempo from, bringing PJ to his feet on a couple of occassions to hit clothesline before covering

*McManus continues to dominate the early proceedings of the contest, attempting a couple more pin attempts following a bridging German suplex and then a running knee/neckbreaker combination.

*The Norwich native goes for a Three Amigo's suplex but on the 2nd suplex attempt Perfect Jack blocks and then takes McManus down to the canvas with a suplex of his own. He turns this into his own, more successful, three amigo's attempt which McManus kicks out of at 2.

*Perfect Jack slows the contest down with a sleeper hold, which takes McManus a minute or so to fight out of with elbows to the abdomen. He runs the ropes but Jack takes him down with a picture-perfect dropkick and then an elbow drop from the 2nd rope.

*Perfect Jack proceeds to take control of the next stage of the match-up, particularly focusing his attack on the right knee of McManus. He hits a series of knee-breakers, stomps and slamming of the knee into the mat.

*Following a few close calls, Perfect Jack sets up for his perfect-plex finisher on McManus but he blocks and then counters with a small package roll up. After the kick out, they rise up simultaneously and McManus nails a big boot to regain control, while also gaining the closest 2 count so far.

*McManus hits a succession of impactful power moves on PJ such as a running powerslam and a short-arm powerbomb. He then hits Perfect Jack with the River Wensum Plunge before covering.

*Clarke James is interviewed by Christy James. CJ says that he knows The Wolf Gang are coming for him but he’s played this game before from their position so he’s always one step ahead. Christy asks if he’s not at all worried about what Ojore could do to him tonight but CJ laughs it off and says he is prepared for anything. CJ wraps up the interview and then comes face to face with Marshall Murdoch. They hug and then CJ wishes Marshall good luck tonight, saying now is Marshall’s time and he will be #1 Contender. CJ says they started this journey a long time ago and Marshall’s on the cusp of the mountain top now, he’s proud of him.

*Jackson Jackson comes face to face with Crime Lord. Crime Lord tells Jackson his days of being champion are numbered because once he wins tonight's main event he'll heading to Summer Showdown to take the 6CW Title. Jackson says Crime Lord is finished and he can't get the job done anymore, he's proven that in every big match he's had. Crime Lord says if it wasn't for Karl Kramer he'd already be 6CW Champion but nobody will get in the way this time. Jackson merely smirks as he walks away

*Proving Grounds returns to show Ojore striding to the ring, staring down at Clarke James who is already in the squared circle. Ojore reaches the bottom of the ramp when James runs the ropes and performs a suicide dive down onto Ojore.

*James picks up Ojore and runs him head first into the steel ring post as the commentators talk about James looking to gain a quick advantage due to the significant size and strength difference. James pummels away on Ojore, he then attempts to throw Ojore into the railings but the big man reverses the momentum and slings James into the steel.

*After beating away on James for a few moments longer on the outside, Ojore rolls James into the ring for the match to officially start.

*Ojore dominates proceedings following his reversal on the outside, using a variety of power-based moves to James grounded. Ojore doesn't make a cover until he hits a Gorilla Press slam into a Samoan Drop.

*Ojore then keeps James grounded with a full nelson hold before switching tact and gripping James viciously around the head. He reverts back to the Full Nelson hold and brings James to his feet where he nails a big full nelson slam for another pin attempt.

*James kicks out, Ojore then slings him to the corner where he first beats down on him with headbutts before flattening him against the turnbuckles with a big clothesline. He drags James out of the corner and then flings him across the ring with a big belly to belly suplex. He covers again and James kicks out.

*Ojore goes for a scoop powerslam but James manages to drop down the back and he then plants The Wolf Gang member into the canvas with a reverse DDT. Ojore gets the shoulder up, James looks to increase the speed of the contest. He hits some punches and then goes for an Irish whip but Ojore reverses the momentum, only for James to hit a tilt-a-whirl neckbreaker on the rebound.

*After another kick out, James scores a couple more pinfalls. The first is following an atomic drop/spinning heel kick combination and then the 2nd comes with a clothesline and then diving plancha combination.

*James tries to throw Ojore into the ropes but the momentum has been reversed and then Ojore plants him into the mat with a spinebuster of his own. After the cover, Ojore goes back on the attack...

*Dante Phoenix is shown doing stretches in the backstage area when Charles Kramer approaches. Kramer wants to talk to Phoenix but Dante laughs him off. Phoenix says that Kramer tried to use him for information but he didn’t back Phoenix when he needed it. Phoenix said it’s up to Team Frost to save 6CW from the Lawless family. Kramer says he wants to help but Phoenix tells him that he’s just the same as Jessica before walking off.

*Jackson Jackson is sat in his locker-room shining the 6CW Championship when Clarke James hurries into the room and shuts the door. Jackson looks confused but CJ says he just needs a place to hide out. He sits down and Jackson smirks. They trade comical insults and talk about how it would be good to get “the band” on a night out again. CJ, PJ, Jackson…..Clarke says Marshall but Jackson doesn’t seem interested. Jackson catches CJ staring at the 6CW Championship but CJ smirks and says he’s just admiring. Jackson tells him he can look but don’t touch, this is as close as he’ll get

*Johnny Lawless is hyping Tyler Roth in Jessica’s office. They talk about the disrespect of Cillian Frost and his team and now is the time to send them a message that they will never forget. Miss Jessica is sat at the desk looking sullen and she tells Roth that she wants Phoenix’ head delivered to her. One by one she is going to destroy every single member of Team Frost and all known associates. This is their company and they went to great lengths to seize control of it; they will relinquish it to nobody. Roth tells them not to worry, Phoenix’ downfall is inevitable.

*We get a view from backstage where Dicey Reilly is asking Phoenix if he’s ok to compete. Phoenix wants to fight and says that the tide is turning. Reilly looks concerned as Phoenix heads out to face Roth.

*Roth is visibly laughing and mocking Phoenix before they start. Phoenix tries to use his speed to target kicks at the legs. Roth tries to trap him in the corner but Phoenix rolls free. Phoenix springboards onto the ropes and twists back for a crossbody but Roth catches him. Roth sets up for the “Capital Punishment” but Phoenix counters out into a “downward spiral”. Roth powers out before two

*Phoenix beckons Roth up and hits him with a “disaster kick” before running to the corner. He leaps off for a “meteora” but Roth catches him again before powerbombing him down on his knee. Phoenix staggers up in the corner and Roth hits a ten clothesline combo and a Biel throw to the centre. Roth beckons Phoenix up and looks for a leaping superkick but Dante ducks it and runs off the ropes with a flying V trigger knee but only gets a two again

*Phoenix looks for the “From the ashes” roundhouse but Roth counters with a leg capture suplex and then nails a fall away throw. Phoenix staggers into a pumphandle front facebuster for a very close two

*Roth continues to mock Phoenix and flips him for a powerbomb. Phoenix spins around the neck and shoulders before attempting a “poisonrana” but can’t muster the strength to pull Roth down. Roth uses insane strength to launch Dante back over his head and into the turnbuckle before nailing a devastating release German that flips Phoenix inside out. Roth follows up with a double underhook into a sit-down powerbomb but somehow Phoenix kicks out

*Roth argues with the referee as we get a glimpse of both Team Frost and Team Jessica locker-rooms. Roth follows Phoenix to the outside and looks for a running “pounce” but Dante avoids and sends his opponent into the steel steps. Phoenix rolls Roth back in and hits a catapult DDT from the apron but only for a two count. Phoenix goes to the apron again to attempt a “buckshot” lariat but Roth catches him on his feet with a snap uranage slam. Roth drags Phoenix up and hits a European uppercut into a sickening discus lariat for another dangerously close two

*Roth attempts “The Reaping” but Phoenix flips out back onto his feet. Roth spins and looks for a right hand but Phoenix ducks and runs the ropes, only to run straight back into a snap superkick. The kick sends him back into the ropes and he returns into another high impact discus lariat. Roth then hits Phoenix with “The Hangman” (running musclebuster)

*Uryu Ishida is interviewed by Fleur Michaels. Ishida says he was battered and bloodied by Ojore at Scars and Stripes but tonight he’s going to show that his spirit cannot be dented. He vows to go out there and take the fight to the Wolf Gang and promises that he will be victorious over Drake. Liam Wood walks past and Uryu wants to talk to him. Uryu says they were both victims at Scars and Stripes and maybe they should be working together against a common enemy but Wood informs Uryu that they aren’t friends and he doesn’t need anyone watching his back. They argue and Wood tells Uryu that he should consider himself as much of a target as anyone else, especially considering he’s holding championship gold. They go head to head and Wood smirks before wishing Uryu luck.

*Jackson Jackson finds himself confronted by the Kramers. The Consultant wants to introduce Jackson to the King of 6CW and the man that will become 6CW Champion at Beachfront Brawl. CK says if Jackson somehow makes it through next week then his nephew will destroy him so maybe it is for the best that he hands the belt over to someone who can withstand a little more punishment. Jackson fires back and says a plastic crown doesn't make anyone a king. He says he'll see Kramer at Beachfront Brawl and he'll teach him all about wrestling royalty

*We are back out at ringside for the “Kornonation” of King Karl Kramer. The Consultant goes on a full rant about how in times of uncertainty the company needs a leader and that is the man sat on the throne. He says Karl Kramer will become 6CW Heavyweight Champion at Beachfront Brawl and he will dismantle everyone in his path between now and then. Crime Lord interrupts and says that if it wasn’t for Charles Kramer then he would be the rightful king and he’s sick and tired of being overlooked in this company. KK rises up from his throne to confront but Crime Lord kicks him right between the legs. CK tries to grab the sceptre but Crime Lord knees him in the gut and then delivers a huge F-5 that sends him crashing through the throne in the centre of the ring. Crime Lord stands over both members of the Kramer Klan before the action goes backstage

*Robin Reborn and the Wolf Gang are in full sermon mode. Ojore and Drake want Clarke James but Reborn tells them that James is merely a fly in the ointment and their priorities remain the same, he says CJ can't run forever and his time is coming. Uryu is about to be baptised and then all five men in the main event will bow at their feet when they realise he is the rightful #1 Contender for the 6CW Championship. Reborn says that 6CW is crumbling at the foundations and now is the time to invoke change, he vows to lead the company from the dark into the light. Reborn gives Drake and Ojore permission to destroy anyone who tries to disrupt their plans, including Clarke James, but to ensure the most important aspects of their plan are executed first.

*"Hold on tight to your dream" blazes out around the arena as the 6CW UK Champion Uryu makes his way out to the ring as the commentators discuss his defence against Ojore from Scars and Stripes.

*This is followed by "Sandwitches" playing and Drake appearing on the stage alongisde Wolf-Gang leader Robin Reborn and also Ojore. The commentators discuss the escape of Clarke James in his match with Ojore earlier in the night and how the Wolf Gang are present from the start in this one.

*As the bell rings to kick the match off, Uryu ducks the lock-up attempt. Drake spins around, Uryu feeds the boot and Drake grabs it, only to be taken down with an enzaguri kick to the head and Uryu quickly attempts a pin.

*After the kick out, the UK Champion continues to try attack at pace, taking down Drake with a series of deep arm drags followed up with a high-angled dropkick. He goes for a 2nd cover but again there is an easy kick out from Drake.

*Uryu throws Drake to the corner, he hits a flurry of body punches before sprinting to the corner going for a shining wizard but Drake catches him, spins and nails a buckle-bomb. Uryu stumbles out of the corner and Drake takes him down with a running neckbreaker.

*Drake dominates a large stretch of the match from this point onwards. He initially attacks Uryu with strikes, pummelling away on him against the ropes with punches and knees to the stomach. He then clotheslines the champ down to the outside, the ref warns off The Wolf Gang who step back in mock innocence.

*Drake goes to the outside to continue his beat-down of Uryu stomping away on him against the steel steps which he follows up with a running knee. He rolls Uryu back into the ring, steps in himself and then hits Uryu with a gutbuster before covering.

*After the kick out, Drake then hits Uryu with an impressive triple German suplex, the last one hit with extra elevation and a bridge into the pin. Uryu kicks out again, Drake levels him with a step-up enzaguri kick for another pin attempt.

*Ricky Nelson and Mike Hill are receiving their rallying call from Miss Jessica although Johnny Lawless informs them that Marty Helms still isn’t here and seriously doubts he will be after what happened to him at Scars and Stripes. Jessica says they can’t afford to work off of “doubts” and that Helms has been allowed too many chances to mess up their plans. She says that if he turns up she won’t be satisfied until his knee is shattered into a million pieces.

*Liam Wood is interviewed ahead of the main event. Wood makes it clear that what happened to Uryu is not his problem and that he made it clear that they aren’t friends and they aren’t fighting the same war. Wood says he has no allies and he’d just as much put Uryu down as he would Reborn. Wood says tonight is about getting what belongs to him and that is another shot at the world title. Wood says he was born to be the man and that is exactly what is going to happen. Wood isn’t interested in Team Frost or Team Lawless, he isn’t a company man and he won’t be wearing the colours of either. He says Reborn got lucky once but tonight his luck runs out, the same goes for everyone else standing between him and what he wants.

Wood leaves the interview podium and finds himself face to face with Jackson Jackson. Wood glares at the 6CW Championship but Jackson laughs at him and says he had his chance and blew it, even if he somehow wins tonight the whole world knows he has his number. Wood tells Jackson that there's only so much luck in the world and he's used up most of it.

*Ricky Nelson parades the ring whilst talking trash to the cameras about how Marty Helms doesn’t have the bottle to turn up. Mike Hill is egging him on from ringside

*Minutes pass and Nelson demands that the referee start a count and then declare him victorious via forfeit. The referee’s count reaches six when “Remedy” screams out and Marty Helms enters the fray.

*Helms’ knee is heavily strapped and he struggles across the walkway. Mike Hill tries to get involved but Helms headbutts him and then launches him off the walkway to the hard floor below. Ricky Nelson springboards to the outside and dropkicks Helms off the walkway, causing him to land badly on his injured knee five feet below on the hard flooring.

*Nelson places the knee of Helms on the steel steps and then stomps on top of it before lashing the injured appendage against the solid steel. The referee is urging Nelson to bring the action inside and eventually he does.

*Helms is barely able to get to his feet as Nelson goes in from behind with a chopblock. Nelson works over the leg with stomps and then applies a single-legged Boston crab. Helms is in agony but refuses to quit and eventually makes it to the ropes. Nelson waits to the count of four to break.

*Nelson continues to attack the leg and tries to re-apply the submission but Helms kicks him away. They get back up and Nelson looks for a running flip-piledriver but Helms catches him on his back before countering with a Alabama slam back into the turnbuckle and then a black hole slam for a near fall.

*Helms drags Nelson up and tries to flip him for a powerbomb but Nelson drops down and attacks the knee again. Nelson looks to apply another submission but Helms grabs him by the head and throws him through the ropes to the apron. Helms gets back up but Nelson catches him with an over-the-top kick and then springboards back in with a headscissors takedown.

*Helms staggers up and swings wildly but Nelson ducks and attempts “Rapid Fire” but Helms battles free and then nails a snap spinebuster as Nelson charges him. Helms looks for the “Lights Out” but Mike Hill is back on the apron for a distraction. Helms tries to take Hill out but that allows Nelson to sneak in behind with a vicious behind the knee kick. Nelson goes for the ropes whilst Hill is still on the apron. Helms is clearly in agony but he removes the heavy brace from his knee.

*Cillian Frost and Dicey Reilly welcome Marty Helms into the backstage area and Frost tells Helms that he’s pleased to see him & that he didn’t suffer too badly at Scars and Stripes. Helms makes it clear that he isn’t a team player and he isn’t interested in being on Team Frost. Dicey tells him to swallow his pride because this is bigger than him and he isn’t the only one with a vendetta. They go face to face and Frost has to separate them, telling them to use that energy against Team Lawless. Helms still isn’t happy as Dicey says he is going out to win the main event and then do something Helms couldn’t, win the world championship.

*Jimmy Phillips is the final member of Team Lawless to receive his orders for the night. Jessica wants the 6CW Championship so that their position at the top is solidified and also because she wants Jackson Jackson punished for slighting her. Phillips says he is ready to make Team Lawless proud and to forge a new future with him at the helm.

*Karl Kramer is shown leaving the trainers’ room and is stopped by Travis Sharp. KK is in a foul mood and says his uncle is currently receiving treatment after Crime Lord’s cowardly assault. KK not only promises justice in his kingdom but that he will drag this company, kicking and screaming, into a new era. Kramer says he is the King but there is still one piece of the Crown Jewels missing and at Beachfront Brawl he will take the 6CW Championship. Crime Lord and nobody else can stop him just like nobody could stop him in the Road to Royalty.

*We get a six-way split screen of the main event participants preparing for the upcoming bout whilst the commentary team debate on potential victors and hype up the Summer Showdown in two weeks’ time. The screen moves back into one as Marshall Murdoch leaves his locker-room to find his way barred by Jackson Jackson. The two men glare at one another but Jackson says he just came here to say they move in the same circles but they aren't friends. Marshall mocks that he's touched Jackson came all the way over here to break it off. Marshall makes it clear he's never liked Jackson, in fact he thinks he's a joke, and that at Summer Showdown he'll take great privilege in being the one to end the most "overrated" title reign in history. Jackson laughs and tells Murdoch not to bottle it "again".
