Big news/rumour on Twitter that Jeff's been suspended for suggesting that someone shoot Kanye West. Details to follow as they're received, even if I have to make them up myself.

Going fine in the Dagless household, though know a few people who are not doing great TBH.
There seems to be the start of a North South divide again, which is not good as I genuinely thought that was being broken down.

Yeah, things started to go pear-shaped when the Danelaw lost its sway. Maybe time for a revival?

Not sure about that, peej, I know a few folk in York, not sure I would wish to reside in their Kingdom.
Looks like you guys are coming out the other side now, which is great news.

There's been a bit of a fuss kicked up on local news sites that no taxes from London's drivers go to London roads (which are subsidised instead by London public transport users) - nothing like a bit of belt-tightening to bring out the handbags.
The UK economy seems to be run like a giant Ponzi scheme about to collapse.

Only kidding, mate.
We've been very lucky here... don't know how or why. Some say the track and tracing has been top notch and whenever someone tests positive they jump on all known contacts. It has only occurred in a few pubs, clubs and retail outlets and those have been quickly hosed down when the virus occurs.
Only 53 deaths in NSW/Syd (but 22 were from a cruise ship) so effectively only 31.
819 out of the total 905 deaths in Australia have been in Victoria. They have a different approach. Tier 4 only lifted yesterday.

Good point, super. We have low density of population as you know. Living on top of each other is only a relatively recent phenomenon.
Generally speaking - I also think we tend to over-wash ourselves or at least I do. However, it's also important to get out amongst the dirt and germs regularly to build up the immune system too.

Top punning from the J'Dizzle on the Offtopic.
We are not in tier 3, which is great, but I was on a work call with someone from Austin TX and they had just moved down from tier 4...

I'm ok, PJ, other than being a little angry/sad/surprised that a Blackadder Goes Forth reference was enough to michaels the thread. Sometimes I think you lot are a bunch of w*nkers.
How are you? Watching the footy this weekend? It's wall to wall rugger this Saturday with the Bledisloe game and the final 6N matches. What a day.

Just about over it, Tino. The rugby that is. Apparently there will be 4 rookies starting against the ABs on Saturday. Just waiting for the usual silly remark which will no doubt inspire the opposition to go into full rampage mode. The Kiwis should win by about 37.
Jules, that's good to hear. Keep up the fine and compassionate work on the golf thread.
Morning Super. Glad you're not Bobby Ball... but maybe Rick is/was?

Thanks PJ. It was a rare moment of candour brought on by the nonsense of certain posters categorising an entire class of people based on superficial observations and without knowing the slightest thing about the environment which influences their behaviour.
Don't worry, I'm now back to making inappropriate comments about recently deceased celebrities.

I thought it was a lovely post as well. Genuinely moving and poignant. I thought growing up in Runcorn was sh*t but you really had it tough. Sadly, it will fall on deaf ears with the c*nts that frequent that board but fair play to you all the same.

Cheers Tina - I probaly prefer the insults.
I also wouldn't want to give the impression that it was all misery and poverty - a hell of a lot harder for my mum than for us and as mentioned in the post, I had friends who had it much worse.
Most of the time we just rode our bikes and played football.

We seem to be losing so many people these days, aren't we Guildford? It's almost too much to take in.
I'm still reeling from the sudden death of Dean Jones... I still can't believe it. I was just too stunned to write anything on the cricket boards.
I've just now seen that an earthquake has struck near Izmir and Samos. I have such fond memories of that island. Stayed there a while back when it seemed so beautiful and idyllic... with laid back friendly locals. Now they've had to deal with waves of immigrants from Syria and the like (poor souls) and I recently saw some footage of crowded tent zones which seems to have changed the whole complexion of the place. Many angry locals there apparently. And now this natural disaster has occurred.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
I meant to ask you about Dean Jones, PJ.
I went to the SCG a couple of times with one of the members and he raved about Jones. Reckoned that he was the most naturally talented Australian batsman of his era and was this guy's favourite cricketer (despite the fact that he was a big NSW fan). I only had vague recollections of him as a player so was surprised at how enthusiastic this guy was about him.

Hi Joey - sad old git that I am [hang on folks, you weren't meant to agree so readily], yesterday I had a look through one of the online articles highlighting Celebrity Deaths in 2020. As you say, so many familiar people. One death I had missed at the time going back to April was the actor Sean Arnold. Not sure if that name will immediately mean too much to you and others here but I reckon many will remember his long running role in Bergerac - as the grumpy Barney Crozier alongside John Nettles and the delectable Liza Goddard.

I used to have John Nettles autograph. It was on the back of a picture of him as Jim Bergerac leaning on his car. I used to know someone whose uncle was the chef of the production team that covered Bergerac.
I've also driven through the village where they used to film Lovejoy.
As far as celebrity anecdotes go, they are not zingers like Jeff's mum mating with one of Westlifes dogs or Superfly sh*gging the midget wife of one of the Proclaimers, but I am happy with them.

I only worked in the same office as her and any allegations of impropriety on my part were proven to be facetious. She was a dwarf and not a midget, elf, goblin or pixie.
My celebrity anecdotes involve discussing golf with the guitarist from Teenage Fanclub or nearly spilling two pints of Crown lager on Sir Ian Botham and at a push, the time I served steak pie and chips ("no vegetables please") to Scottish international footballer, Gavin Rae.

And even though he never appeared in Bergerac, now Nobby Stiles. Sad times indeed.
