I have him as left wing. Though is hard left not the same as far left because I dont have him as far left. I get tge views based on your own spectrum though. Which is why I hare labour supporters calling Starmer and others right wing.  Left of centre is not right wing.

I would say that hard left is within the standard left wing myself, thinking of someone like Tony Benn being hard left as opposed to Ed Milliband who was soft left, will say however that is possibly closer to far left than it is the centre.

The other day it was not the role of the state the support hungry children.

Now, it should be the job of the state to pick snd choose who can have children.

Unsure if you want minimal state intervention or massive state intervention.

It was tongue in cheek Beninho.
Of course the state cannot and should not dictate who has children. I simply wish these sub human wretches had enough brains not to breed so frequently.

I'm well into my 30's now and of the 30 guys in secondary school form only 3 have children none of whom have more than one. I see such people on the streets every day it must be said but personally don't know any of them thankfully.

Soul

Of my school and uni friend group I would say that I am now  just about in the minority (although it might be about 50/50) by not having children. And like you I am into my 30's. Although I can only think of one couple I know that have two children, and one of them is nearly 40 and the other in their 40's.

But I don't get what this proves?

It was to counter Realists assertion that we all know people with numerous children when it often isn't the case. From my experience those with a few know other people with a few likewise those without any tend to know other people without any.

Do you think couples should be means tested before being allowing them to have children?

What if both parents have been made redundant due to Covid? Should the state take their kids off them now that they are poor?

It's mad you need a licence to watch TV, but you don't need to demonstrate you are even remotely capable to bring horrible little urchins into the world.
Not sure about that. TV license is to fund the BBC, isn't it?

You also need a tv license to watch bbc iplayer. I switched off the signal box thing for my live tv because it seemed like a waste of energy given I don't watch live tv. But I still need a license.

Sure, but that's only to ensure people pay to fund the state broadcaster. It's a fee to fund the BBC.

What do people think of Netflix, I have it because it's only about £6 a month, but it's pretty rubbish for all that is on it to be fair. I've given up in the first 10 minutes far more times than finished programmes.

I think it’s decent enough. You could get more films on it.
I’ve been told that I’m a bit weird for this, but I love documentaries on i am a killer on death row etc.

Netflix has a good few of those.

A lot of the shows aren’t for me though.

Netflix is decent enough if you avoid the original films which are largely rubbish; The Platform being an exception although being dubbed unlikely to be for SR. Snowpiercer was ok in parts, although it drifted too much in the middle.

Trouble is with all of them you have to wade through an extraordinary amount of excrement to find something decent. The best stuff is often foreign.
Netflix in particular is awful at just making lazy remakes of old films into a series with about 100 episodes to tell the same story.

I neither watch live TV (a little bit of sport notwithstanding which I never watch alone) nor do I watch iPlayer so ditched the licence a couple of years ago.

You dont listen to any bbc radio or use the bbc website? And you don't watch any TV as its shown? Yet also don't watch any catch up or streaming bar Netflix?

What the Holy fick do you do with your life?

I don't need a TV licence to listen to BBC radio or to use the BBC website.

Thats true, but only an idiot would not pay the license fee, which funds the website and bbc radio stations, yet carry on using the services. Because that is a real d!ck move.

The point is you don't require a licence to listen to the radio, only TV.

I think the days of the licence fee are numbered anyway.
I don't think the Website is solely funded by the licence. My work PC goes through the cloud in Norway and as such websites like the BBC are full of adverts. That probably pays for it.

I know you don't need a license. But, if your so anti license that you don't pay for it, but still use the services it covers. Then your basically a bit of a tw@t. Or hypocrite as you like yo say.

Do get over yourself, you use websites all the time that you personally do not fund, like the one we're using now. How is it idiotic to know what I can and cannot use without a TV licence? The clue is in the name 'TV'.

Do you pay for the Guardian website, or Wikipedia? Do you fund podcasts through Patreon etc?

It's true. When I lived abroad (cue Super being triggered Whistle )the bbc news website had advert banners and ads before the videos played.
