SURREY VS ESSEX/MIDDLESEX T20 VITALITY BLAST
Rikki Clarke has been added to a 14 man squad for the T20 vitality game against Essex at Chelmsford on Friday.
This is the first time this season Rikki has been available for a t20 game after recovering from his hip injury.
Laurie Evans returns to the squad after missing the T20 game against Sussex due to a agreement with both clubs.
Sam Curran, Tom Curran & Jason Roy remain with England for the ongoing white-ball series with Australia.
Skipper Jade Dernbach is out with a groin injury. All-rounders Jordan Clark (foot and ankle),and Liam Plunkett (hamstring) are also out of contention for this match.
There is no place in the Squad for Mark Stoneman, James Taylor or Amar Virdi.
FULL SQUAD:
Gareth Batty (c)
Hamish Amla
Gus Atkinson
Scott Borthwick
Rory Burns
Rikki Clarke
Matt Dunn
Laurie Evans
Ben Foakes
Will Jacks
Dan Moriarty
Jamie Overton
Jamie Smith
Reece Topley
Borthwick wont play, and I doubt Dunn will so with Rikki back it will probably come down to either Atkinson or Overton for the final place, for me it would be Overton to miss out.
Over to you chaps

Cheers, JimBob. Totally agree with you on the team.
Fear our mini revival will end today. We often struggle against Essex who seem too streetwise for us, particularly at the People's Republic of Chelmsford.

Re: SURREY VS ESSEX/MIDDLESEX T20 VITALITY BLAST
Saw some of that. We came back into it with Moriarty getting 3 and Batty taking a couple with decent economy. However, an awful 19th over from Overton opened the floodgates again - 3 wides and 3 boundaries plus the most ridiculous bye of all time* were not what we wanted!
* You had to see it to believe it. Foakes attempted a stumping from a rare dot ball off Overton, he threw at the stumps but missed; the ball went through to bowler Overton who then rolled the ball back at the stumps, it also missed whilst Foakes was walking back to his spot unaware what Overton had done. The ever alert Tendo then ran the bye!

Following up on a recent post from Olly about Moriarty playing in the Norfolk league and not being rated there.
Not to do with his ability but might be to do with his character and not going down well with everyone - he got a clear ticking off from the umpire today when he said something after a caught behind appeal was turned down. He also had a run in with a Sussex batsman in the Bob Willis match this week when an umpire stepped in and called skipper Burns in to calm things.

Amla out first ball of the Surrey innings!
Given his scoring rate and JDizzle's recent comments, that might improve our chances!

Run rate good but 3 down early and Harmer now coming on. 2/22 would be typical from him and totally do for us!

My nerves are shot was dreading another tie
Glad in a way that Overton and Atkinson sort of made up for their awful bowling.
Also well played Laurie Evans that was a special knock

Tbh, I feared the worst there. Great win in the end.
Brilliant knock from Evans. He never properly got on top of danger man Harmer but he saw off the Essex skipper whose 0/29 was ultimately not good enough. A good call from Batty and/or the management as well to push Overton up the order. How cool though was that from Atkinson off the last ball? He got some tap earlier today but has shown his worth in this year's 20. Atkinson's been dogged by injury for 2 years and has battled back to earn his day in the sun today.

Surrey played well for most of the last thirty overs of that match. I must admit I thought the game had gone after the first ten though. Is Delport the new ten Doeschate ?
A little bit worrying that Laurie Evans said in his post match interview that he has found it difficult to settle back at Surrey but hopefully that innings will help.
I'm not sure we've got a side good enough to win the Blast this year but with the right overseas players and maybe with our England players available for some T20 games next year we might be beginning to form a decent white ball side.

Liam Plunkett has been added to the 14 for the game against Middlesex.
I don't think it will make any difference to the team line up as we will probably stick with the same eleven but it's nice to see him back at last.

Good spot on the old twitter, JimBob.
With Clarke and now also Plunkers in the squad, bit surprised Dunn keeps his place tbh.
Anyway, as you say, hard to see us changing a winning eleven. Overton could be rested / dropped as his bowling has not been up to much but we probably need his batting too much.

67 off 49 @ 137 when Surrey are on for 200+. Will be interesting to see if the Amla rule comes into play today! That Middlesex batting line up is not pretty though...

I was watching, he pulled something before the last ball of his second over. He had to abort his run up before finally delivering the final ball and went off the field immediately after. It looked serious enough that the commentators were saying "I hope this isn't the last we've seen of Batty"
