Scotland v Georgia Friday 24th October
First topic message reminder :
Scotland v Georgia
Friday 24th October 2020
BT Murrayfield
KO 19.30
Live on ITV 4
Well at long last we have an international game coming up for Scotland fans to enjoy, a warm up game for the final 6N fixture against Wales the following weekend.
It will be an interesting line up though, as a fair few players will be missing due to the English Premiership final that weekend and it also being outside of the international window.
So what kind of lineup will we see?
My guess is something along these lines:
1. Sutherland
2. Brown (Captain in Hogg's absence)
3. Fagerson Z
4. Cummings
5. Harley (Been the form lock in Scotland these past weeks)
6. Ritchie
7. Watson
8. Fagerson M
9. Price
10. Hastings
11. Graham
12. Lang (Johnson to get a run out with Glasgow)
13. Grigg
14. VDM
15. Jones H
Subs:
Keeble
McInally
Nel
Gray R
Cowan
Steele (I fancy he might have a look at him off the bench)
Weir
Hoyland (Kinghorn to have a run with Edinburgh as well)

Duhan
Like Visser
Though he tackles
I'd still pick Sean "my Corona" Maitland over him on this game so far.
Lang and Harris are not drawing defenders or straightening up. When Scotland are passing the ball it’s all moving diagonally and duhan is getting the ball to close to the touchline. He needs a bit of help from those inside him
Sounds like we need the Scott Bennett combo of auld.
Not that that will ever happen!

Think we’re about to see the Hastings Russell axis

I’m assuming Kinghorn knew we had an advantage? I didn’t.

Re: Scotland v Georgia Friday 24th October
On their 4th choice tighthead here, sadly. Beka Gigashvili is the usual starter, Levan Chilachava usually second choice and Giorgi Melikidze (on the bench today) has been picked ahead of Kaulashvili in the past. I'd have really liked to see Sutherland and Gigashvili in a head-to-head.bsando wrote:Georgian scrum is awesome
Kote Mikautadze who is a rock in the scrum at lock is missing as well. Gigashvili, Chilachava and Mikautadze are all in the extended Georgia squad so I'd presume they are being held back for Wales.

Can’t complain with the scoreline but really need to see scotland step things up in the second half. The forwards are linking well with the backs and although it’s not very high quality I like the way Scotland are going about their business. Watson and Cummings my players of the match so far.

First game back test wise after 7 months, I can't complain at that, I think a few players have added to their game. Fagerson Jr is showing a bit more of his club form at this level now. In fact our back row have largely stolen the show from the backs and looked pretty good on the whole.
Our centre pairing has been a bit... Eh. Kinghorn has looked desperate to show he can run with a ball and been okay but made some pretty stupid errors because of it. Graham always plays with some bite. VdM seems to have settled in nicely but needs a bit of space. Hastings looks solid but needs to occasionally pass deep rather than pancake flat. Also I think he should be given all kicking duties, I feel he performs better when the responsibility is on him.

Re: Scotland v Georgia Friday 24th October
Forgive me nelly, my comment was on the last phases of play. Lots of knocking at the door and then failed to get over the line.
Overall I’d say pass marks for the half in general

Hard to argue with three tries to nil and total domination, but we have looked pretty stodgy in midfield. Early days to be fair but would like to see an improvement in the second half.

So the question is... Could Harris do a reverse Richie V? He'd be a great back row...

Deserved score there. Simple ball over the top of the Scottish defenders who were all too narrow

Well that should shake any complacency away, good try from Georgia, who have started second half better than Scotland

Melikidze coming on at tighthead has made an impact at the scrum. A better contest against Sutherland now.

But worrying they're our main source of scoring! It's certainly the most helpful our centres have been!

Centres too slow and uninspiring.
Kinghorn is trying to do it all himself. He needs s few weeks at club level.

Different team once Russell comes on. Looks a much wider pitch and much harder to defend. Puts us much doubt in defenders minds.

My bets would be Watson will tour in the initial party and Ritchie will be one of the approx dozen players usually called up as injury replacements.NeilyBroon wrote:TheMildlyFranticLlama wrote:Cracking shift from Hamish
