Most common heard phrases on 606v2
Bored and trawling through posts and I just keep seeing the same turns of phrases on here. Is it a rugby thing or a 606v2 thing?

Thing to remember is that most (or all) of us are not journalists and although we have a generally good grasp of the English language we aren't wordsmiths.
I have certainly been guilty of typing oft-used phrases. Doesn't bother me though, because I am not getting paid for it

"World class." Usually used when discussing an England player. Need to hear it more when we're discussing AWJ.

Re: Most common heard phrases on 606v2
It's got to be the "World Class" bomb. Dropped liberally everywhere by Welsh and Glasgow fans in particular, usually bestowed on a fast and lightweight player in his early 20s, who has strung together two strong performances and, in the case of Glasgow, heralds from Ayr.
What then typically follows is this:
- they get prematurely called up to an international training camp,
- Stuart Barnes writes about them in the Sunday Times,
- mediocre rugby journals stick them on a "one to watch" list,
- it turns out, however, that they can't defend or tackle,
- after a viscious cracked nail incident, they have to drop out of the international reckoning,
- they never quite regain eye-catching form,
- the fans who declared them world class now call them "solid club players", in an attempt to smooth over poor judgement
- the club ditches them and they end up with a string of short term contracts at struggling clubs,
- they end up back at Glasgow, where they become World Class all over again, Jimbo bestows upon them an incomprehensible nickname and they go on to establish a fine collection of 1872 runner-up medals.
I may have spent too long on this....

'The ref was...'
'C'mon referee!'
'What are you on about ref?'
'How'd he miss that?'
'Well, he didn't penalise them for that!'
Und so weiter und so fort.
