To add another - Atkinson's first delivery in Gloucs' second innings is a no ball. Add that to the six he sent down in their first dig and that's 14 runs gifted to the opposition. We can't afford that.

Don't give up hope, JimBob - not just yet anyway!
2 down now and all results possible. Do fear the light may prevent either side getting the win but very interesting atm ....

7 bowled on the reel by Topley. Unfortunately he can't stay on until stumps. Virdi might though.

Absolutely, JimBob. You just beat me to that comment.
Van Buuren has tonked Virdi out of the attack although I would have stuck with him for an over or two more. Virdi's always in with a chance of taking a wicket and especially when someone's after him.

As feared, no control in the attack - going at nearly five runs an over through the first twenty

Yep. The support bowlers pretty toothless and also expensive. 10 overs in total so far from the Atkinson/ Overton / Clark combo for a return of 0/59.
The hosts need about 115 more with 8 wickets left and 40 overs to go provided the light holds. We're going to have to put Dent and van Buuren in the hutch quickly to keep in this.

First ball after tea and Virdi bowled a no ball. He's now bowled two more since then. Totally unprofessional and raises questions about the team's preparation.

JimBob with his rain dance a serious MotM contender.

Nice try JimBob but rain now stopped and play to resume at 5:20.
Can't complain. All in all, we don't deserve to escape with a draw.

When Gloucs were 36/2, the game was - or should have been - in the balance. Hats off to van Buuren and Dent who both batted very well but we badly let it slip out of control.

Evening all. Shocking performance. As with every year, we seem very short in the bowling department. I know we're missing Roach and both Currans but the latter was to be expected.

Yep a poor performance with the ball all game - bar Topley (and even he was hardly in total control), everyone was going at far too many runs per over to build up any pressure, the no ball stuff is just embarrassing at a professional level. We have seen over the Morgan era with the England white ball sides how easy it is to not bowl front foot no balls, it's ridiculous that we bowled so many in this game.
Batting was poor in the first innings too.
Very concerning performance to start the season.
